  1. They didn't guard very good last year either.
  2. This kid reminds me a lot of a young Yao Ming!
  3. Pathetic half by a team that doesn't realize good defense is more important that good offense.
  4. Team defense needs to step up. That's on TFord.
  5. JGood has played 3 minutes in the 1st quarter so far tonight vs Jazz. He's 3 for 3 from 3 pt line leading the Wizards with 9 pts in 1st quarter!
  6. I could have some of the facts wrong, but the way I understood it, Yuri was offered a relatively large sum of money ($50k ?) to play for nationally ranked Tenn in the high-profile SEC. Even though I don't like it, I wouldn't blame any college kid for taking that deal. Apparently, he got an NLI counter-offer to stay at SLU. My guess is that it was an inferior offer to Tenn, but he has some loyalty to his hometown and the Billikens, so he decided to stay. OG, don't blame the playa', blame the game.
  7. Great thread! I had forgotten about a lot of this. Fortunately for Spoon, Grawer brought in Highmark and Claggett as parting gifts.
  8. That is an impressive resume! Now I understand how you became such a big Billikens fan. I skim most of your posts, and usually read about 1/3rd of the content, but I'm sure the other 2/3rds is just as riveting. So, please keep posting here. I appreciate your unique point of view. Seriously. I apologize for being off topic here, but can you give me your thoughts on the advantages of the Billikens joining the Missouri Valley Conference as early as next year?
  9. When Venice Menace talks, Saint Louis Billikens Men's Basketball listens! 2022-23 Men's Basketball Roster - Saint Louis University (slubillikens.com) Thanks, Menace!
  10. Wait a minute..you're forgetting the Billikens loss at Loyola Marymount in the 2011/12 season. Bill's had just beat Oklahoma and were ranked in the top 25, and they laid an egg at Loyola-Marymount. We met as we we're leaving the gym.
  11. My wife and I try to go to one or two games a year. Living in Charlotte, we always go to the Davidson game. After a close loss in 2018, my wife, daughter and I went to a small, nearly empty bar/restaurant right next to campus. Within 15 minutes, about half of Davidson's team showed up, including Kellen Grady and A-10 player of the year-to-be, Peyton Aldridge. My wife and kid had the audacity to get selfies with all the players! I told them they should be studying. Among others, we've been to VCU and Richmond. The Richmond venue is bigger and better. The best game we've been to in the last several years was the Seton Hall game. For one, the Billikens won. Also, we sat right next to Matt Doherty, who was very nice, and posed for my wife's selfie. At the end of the game we met Hashan French's mom; my wife gave her a big hug. The fact that it was in NYC area was a big plus. Depending on the day of the week played, this year's Iona game look promising. The Hall of Fame Tip-Off in CT would be great also.
  12. Wow! Read about half of this a couple hours ago, and just woke up from a really good nap. Thanks, Old Guy!
  13. I’ve always been offended by “Fighting Irish” Some of us are happy drunks. The Billiken Freemasons connection is troubling. Also, SLU administration must, at least, define the Billiken’s pronouns!
  14. Right. 5 months is a long time, so we're going to need a lot more rumors!
  15. Hey Menace, you need to just beat it with that Michael Jackson analogy. The best Billiken's teams in the modern era, from 2011 to 2014, had lock-down defense as their signature trademark. It was mostly a lack of defense that lost games for the Billikens this year. It is meaningless to score 85 pts against UMass when they score 91.
