  1. I don't think the first-round sites feed into a certain regional. They can move the sites around so that the higher seeded teams can play close to home the entire time. The ESPN bracket shows different first round sites than other bracket projections. They move the sites around so even if Ohio St would be in the West regional, they could play a first and second round game close to home. http://bracketville.wordpress.com/bracketology/ http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology
  2. He made them during the A10 coaches teleconference today.
  3. St. Joes RPI 47 Xavier 52 Washington 53. Need to get X and Wash into the top 50.
  4. That actually somewhat proves the post about the greeks to be right. Although they do enjoy basketball, they're too good to be in the student section with everyone else. If you say a lot of people think that the leader is annoying, then why don't they all leave too? They are actually willing to represent the students in the student section.
  5. OT in the Nova/ND game
  6. At UMass on Tuesday and then home against Richmond on Saturday.
  7. Atlantic 10 Up to Date Standings Temple 10-2 21-5 Saint Louis 10-3 22-5 Xavier 8-4 17-9 St. Joseph's 8-5 18-10 La Salle 7-5 18-9 Massachusetts 7-5 18-8 St. Bonaventure 7-5 14-10 Duquesne 6-6 15-11 Dayton 6-6 16-10 Richmond 5-8 14-14 Geo. Washington 4-8 9-17 Charlotte 4-8 12-13 Fordham 2-10 9-16 Rhode Island 2-11 5-23
  8. Villanova up 9. 9 minutes left.
  9. Tu gets an And 1 with 11 seconds left to put Xavier up 2 but Xavier plays bad defense and gives up a layup to Dillard on the other end. Tied at 75. Going to OT. Dayton hasn't won at Xavier since 1981. Still rooting for Dayton because it gives us a 2 game cushion on everyone in the conference.
  10. Villanova up 16 on Notre Dame just before half.
  11. Dayton up on Xavier at half @ the Cintas Center. If Dayton holds on to win, SLU will be at least 2 games up on everyone behind them in the conference standings meaning that it wouldn't take much at all to clinch at least the 2 seed.
  12. Student turnout was better. Not a ton of cheering but it was still pretty good. One more home game left. One more chance for our students to really step up.
  13. WOW. UMass was down 3 and they hit a buzzer beater, but the guys' foot was on the line so it was only a 2 pointer. La Salle wins.
  14. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2012/02/ncaa-mock-bracket-selection/1#.Tz76t1HN0bS I like the way they did it with having teams that aren't the conference favorite winning their conference tourney. Allowed us to see what could happen in a different scenario,
  15. I agree. We do everything we can to get the word out to the students. They just continue to make excuses and not show up. I've heard people talk about how we're "first in the conference" (it's perfectly fine that they think that) but those kids say they still can't make it to the game. All I can suggest is maybe marketing the games earlier in the week and getting the signs up earlier in the day. The Xavier game will have good attendance. We'll lose a couple people to the homework and school night excuse, but we're going to have a very strong crowd. The key will be to actually get them to cheer and make noise and not get distracted by other things. The rest of the crowd needs to start getting loud and making noise too. That doesn't really apply to anyone who is on this board, but the problem isn't just with the students.
  16. For sure. A couple of thoughts. I think the athletic department/slunatics/whoever does a pretty good job of marketing the games to the students. My suggestion would be that we start earlier. We allow for the homework/work excuse when we don't advertise the game until gameday. Also we need to put the gameday banner up on Gries again. I don't care if it's old, it still catches people's attention. Another suggestion would be to get those little gameday signs up earlier. It doesn't do any good if we put them up at like noon. A lot of people are already done with class by then. But also, I just think that a lot of the students simply don't care. Some of them aren't aware of how good the team is, but I think the majority of people really don't care or don't want to care. I'm not expecting a good crowd for Saturday even though it's Mardi Gras. First of all its Fordham so nobody will care. And second, I'm seeing a trend develop this year where nobody shows up anyway.
  17. "No, I would be pretty skeptical," Pomeroy said this week. "I haven't seen them play much — I lamented this week about the Atlantic 10 TV package — and I saw them play earlier, before New Years. They look like a solid team. A lot comes down to statistics. I don't believe they're the 10th best, but I believe they're one of the 20 best. I see them as a 15 to 20 type team. … They'll be a tough draw (in the NCAA Tournament)." His stats and numbers make us the 10th best team, but there aren't many of us who actually beleive that we are the 10th best team in the country.
  18. My parents will be in 108 for the Xavier game. Hopefully you guys can get them going because normally they wouldn't want to stand up and be loud.
  19. I'd take an 8/9 if it meant getting Mizzou in the next round.
  20. Temple 27 Winner of eight in a row, I have rated this team consistently higher than both Kenpom.com and Sagarin, but both have now caught on to the genius of The Bilastrator. The BPI has Temple rated No. 30, and I tend to agree. Wins against Duke, Saint Louis, Wichita State and Maryland are impressive and worthy of the top 30. New Mexico 30 Kenpom.com still likes the Lobos more than I do and rates them No. 13, while the BPI has the Lobos at No. 22. And New Mexico was able to score 48 points against Wyoming and still win ... by double digits. Yikes. Washington 47 Washington has talent and is starting to play to its potential. But defense has to be the calling card, and every player on the floor has to rebound on every possession. Washington cannot afford to lose down the stretch. Xavier 57 The Musketeers have lost four of the last seven games and seem without life. I cannot see this team as an NCAA tournament team absent a major turnaround. St. Joes 63 Wins against Dayton, Richmond and La Salle put the Hawks back in the Bilas Index. Add in wins against Creighton, Dayton and Villanova, and you have a bubble team that could easily be left out. The profile is for disappointment on Selection Sunday. La Salle 66 The Explorers have lost three straight and do not do anything incredibly well, but they are simply a very solid team that does not beat itself. I do not believe the Explorers are quite as good as the metrics suggest, however.
  21. 32. Saint Louis Billikens I don't get it. Saint Louis is rated No. 10 in the BPI and No. 10 on Kenpom.com. There is no way that Rick Majerus has a top 10 team. Still, the Billikens have beaten Washington, Xavier, Villanova and Oklahoma. Only Washington is expected to stay in the Bilas Index past the next two weeks.
  22. that guy has xavier as a 10 seed. just another guy who has no clue what he's doing.
  23. ugly, but a philly sweep. take care of the next 3 and we're looking great.
  24. not liking this half at all.
