  1. I can only say that you should read into the fact that he declined to comment.
  2. From Bernie at the P-D Very nice win for St. Louis U. and coach Rick Majerus, taking down Nebraska last night at Chaifetz. The Billikens are ridiculously young, all freshmen and sophomores, and they’re going to have a lot of wild, foolish and helpless nights this season. But the Nebraska win did establish something: Majerus is getting talent into SLU, he’s putting together a team, and there is a program in the works. Instant gratification? No. But by next season, when these kids are juniors and sophomores (and with new recruits incoming), Majerus should have something tangible going. This is his third season, and I realize some SLU (and other) fans think St. Louis U basketball should be more advanced by now. Understood. But I think next season will be a more representative barometer of where the program is. Just my opinion. http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/bernies-e...nd-other-takes/
  3. Thought it was nice that, when the students realized Joe Buck was in the house and started chanting his name, he acknowledged them and gave the students a nice wave. I'm pretty sure he didn't want to be noticed and approached, so I think it was a nice gesture on his part.
  4. I was hoping she was the Prime Minister of Australia (yes I know that the PM is a guy, but hey)
  5. Perhaps some big news?? I just came from Chaifetz where I saw a pow-wow of big wigs: SLU MBB Head Coach Rick Majerus, Assistant AD and Compliance Officer Janet Oberle, SLU Athletic Director Chris May, and Atlantic 10 Conference Commissioner Bernadette McGlade. She could just be in St. Louis because an A10 school is playing a BCS/Big 12 school (also is her first visit to Chaifetz, I presume), but from what little of the conversation I heard, it seemed to be more important than that, and, regardless, I'm sure the topic of Ellis came up.
  6. Burwell made mention in his column today that he will be at the SLU game tonight.
  7. I'm torn on my prediction for this game. So I'm giving two, even though that's not fair.. 1. Nebraska +4 2. Saint Louis + 2 So there ya go. I'm on the record.
  8. Memphis just about stole a win from #1 Kansas. Impressive game.
  9. Could be tricky, considering Majerus won't let us within 39 1/2 feet (get the reference?) of the freshmen, but maybe I'll be able to catch him before the game. I did see him today in Grand Market but it's always a bit awkward... "Hi you don't know me but I happen to stalk you because I write for the newspaper."
  10. The Huskers have it listed on their site, as of today, so that's a good sign. I also found it listed in ESPN's MediaZone (for media professionals), so another good sign. Also just found out that you can listen to a FREE live radio stream, but it will be through Nebraska, so you will have to listen to their commentators. And don't forget that locally, it will be on FSBillikens, I mean FSN Midwest.
  11. It's always been a part of their pre-game press release that is sent out to the media and posted on SLUBillikens.com
  12. It really doesn't matter who we've beaten in the past. This team is completely unlike any team that has played at SLU perhaps in school history; I adamantly believe that past records are simply that, records: they have no bearing on what this team will or won't do this season.
  13. I think Nebraska will give us a lot of the same looks that we saw against SEMO, however, I will say that I believe we will need more than 59 points to take the W against the Cornhuskers. If KC can give us a solid outing (7-10 points) and we can shoot over 70% from the line, I think we'll be in good shape. We also need more than 7 points off the bench. This game is definitely winnable, but things are going to have to go well for us.
  14. Unless you're initials are SP and your name rhymes with Parah Salin. Just sayin'
  15. Interesting, because I feel like FS Midwest would make that decision at game time, not a week in advance.
  16. 2009-2010 Saint Louis University Basketball Preview My editor and I, along with the great staff of the U-News, worked really hard on putting together a special section of the U-News this week all about the upcoming season. In it, there's a Q&A with Coach Majerus, interviews with Mitchell, Reed, Cassity, and Eckerle. I give my thoughts on the team with and without Cody Ellis. Paul and Kwamain talk about being captains of such a young team. We break down the A-10 with help from sports writers around the league. We also picked 5 games that will be big games to watch. The link, provided above, will get you to all the articles. Thanks guys!
  17. In TT's conversation about Mike McCall with Majerus: "Kwamain can play either guard spot and as we run more, we have every intention of getting Cody (Ellis) on board, we’ll sign another big and as these bigs evolve and develop, we feel this kid, he makes everyone around him better."
  18. I wonder why the McCall announcement was held back?? Majerus expected to announce both today.
  19. Don't be too positive now. We might catch the positive flu.
  20. Just wanted to remind you guys that it's senior day tomorrow afternoon at Chaifetz Pavilion. As another note, Sammi McCloud went down during Charlotte; I don't know anything about her injury other than I was told it involved the hamstring. Her status for tomorrow was questionable. I'll post a report tomorrow after the game.
  21. Majerus said today the player of the game was Jeff Reid. I have to agree. Yeah, KM had a good game, but Reid's hustle was unmatched. He really gave us that spark in the bottom of the second to put us on top. I thought he had a great game; really excited to watch him grow as a player this year. If I get a chance, I'll transcribe Majerus' post-game conference for you guys.
  22. Majerus said that SLU will announce the two recruits on Tuesday (though it was clarified that the announcement will come Wednesday). I believe I ran into one of them on my way out of the arena.
