Pretty wild thing to say given how this season has gone. The “people who don’t have anything better to do” are the only ones still showing up to games.
This is outrageous from a program’s head coach. Imagine being on the hot seat, and calling out the only people who give a rat’s a$$ about the program. If Ford is not fired at the end of this season I will not be renewing season tickets. Had been leaning that way a long time, but this makes it official. I actually DO have better things to do than waste any more time on a program giving a giant middle finger to the few left who actually care.

Here is the timeline:
Party happens Dec. 23, 2020
SLU goes on COVID pause Dec. 30, 2020
SLU cracks the Top 25 a few days later, early Jan. 2021 following a strong non-conference showing. BTW, those who say crazy sh!t comparing the Ford era to the Crews era or saying things like he recruits like Sodie are hurting their own credibility and distracting from some legit criticisms of TF.
Here is the link with the timeline: https://slubillikens.com/news/2021/1/4/mens-basketball-billikens-ranked-in-latest-ap-top-25-poll.aspx
And to suggest that SLU should have fired TF right after this party, when the team was ranked is also living in a fantasy land.
IMO, Ford made a huge mistake and it was a turning point that will likely prove to be his undoing. That team finished in the First 4 out of the NCAA Tourney due to the long pause. An NCAA appearance then would have likely enhanced recruiting and bought him goodwill among the fanbase.
The following year, he gets a terrible break losing Perk, costing another solid chance at a bid, and then last year, was a poorly constructed roster and relying too much on the return of a full healthy Perk was misguided. Lost opportunities, recruiting regresses and now here Ford is on the hot seat.
He will ultimately pay for his actions on Dec. 23, 2020. There is a justice in that.
Ford’s recruiting post-NIL is very comparable to Sodie. He was a far superior recruiter pre-NIL, which makes you wonder what he was doing to stand out that he can’t do now.

Why is that a valid reason for him to waste a year of eligibility on the program this year? Of course, that’s assuming he even gets the waiver in the first place, which is looking to me more and more like his answer is no.
I wasn’t saying that’s what he should do… just what staff might pressure him to do. Plus these kids want to play, they don’t want to sit on the bench all year. But yeah, it is probably a pointless discussion because I don’t see him being cleared for this year.

Given the arena is private property they can simply deny entry or ask the person to leave.
Obviously they can. I’m asking if people think they would. Would be a bad look to drag out/deny entry to passionate fans who are protesting for change for betterment of the program.

That’s insane. You could change a couple names and you’d think that was an article from this season. Every criticism of Ford that we currently have is present in that article, down to the team having one (serviceable) big man.

His size will hold him back (but, if he was bigger, he wouldn't be HERE), but Medley looks like a player. I'm excited about his future (assuming he'll be here all 4 years).
Also excited about Curcic. Plays with intensity on both sides of the floor, looks to have a sweet shot, and has a bit of an edge.
I’m not letting myself get emotionally attached to any one player on this roster, because entire roster turnover might be the cost of replacing Ford (worth it IMO). But I do think Curcic, Medley, Thames, Zhang, and even SVB could develop nicely under a coach who does that sort of thing (you know, player development). With that said, a new coach could bring in an entirely new roster that is miles better than our current one in one offseason. We’ve already seen it from multiple opposing teams this season. THROW THE DAMN TOWEL.
-
This is strictly hypothetical, because I haven’t held a sign since my student section days, but would a simple black and white sign saying “Ford Out” be allowed into the arena? Or would it be confiscated/security involved to prevent it? I feel like it wouldn’t be allowed to fly. I’ve only ever seen that one shirt that a guy had made that said Fire Ford on one side and Fire May for not Firing Ford on the other… and what were they gonna make him do, strip down? Also if you’re on here do you sell those shirts?

Hey this time we only sucked for 1 half
We will count it as 0.5 wins in the pursuit of 20.

I don’t care if you’ve got Helen Keller playing major minutes at the 5, you don’t blow 18 point second half leads. The Angry Elf has solidified our position as a laughing stock.
-
Unacceptable to not play Curcic and Thames more in second half.
-
Good effort from some of the players. Leave the entire coaching staff in f***** Iowa
-
Only Travis could’ve taken an 18 point second half lead and said, how can I screw this up, and executed it perfectly

Dalger in La La land out there defensively

It’s like any time someone does something good, Travis pulls them…. Thames baseline dunk, yanked. Curcic playing tough, yanked.

I mean he's made some good plays. He plays hard defensively. Comically bad is very much inaccurate
Bruh. For every one decent play there’s four hilariously bad ones.

Gibson dragged to the floor while attempting a layup and somehow it’s their ball. Officials comical too.
-
Dalger is just comically bad. I get that we have NO ONE else. But it’s really funny watching him do some of the stuff he does.

We all knew the collapse was inevitable, but the speed at which it transpired was truly impressive.

Not that it means much but the announcers are really good.
I just tuned in and first thing I heard them say was than Van Bussel was a junior and Zhang was from Japan… you must be easily impressed!

I could see this. Like I said in the Wiz's thread, Drake doesn't really run away with games. They'll keep us at arm's distance, though. I'm guessing more than 10, less than 20 for a final margin.
Pretty sad that that’s our best case scenario, basically.

I’m not sure why the guy would want to waste a year of eligibility at this point
Probably would be under a lot of pressure from coaching staff to play, as only chance of them keeping their jobs is a miracle run in Brooklyn.

What is toxic/disturbed about anything I said? What’s disturbing is winning a buy game by 3, a week after losing by 40 to a local rival, and feeling secure enough in your job to start taking pot shots at fans who are “negative” about the direction of this program.
No one is “attacking” any “kids”. It is acceptable to discuss the performance of grown men who are being paid to play Division 1 basketball. The whole “kids” thing went out the window with NIL. You can thank the NCAA for that.
With that said, majority of “haters”, myself included, place the blame for the state of this program squarely at the feet of Ford and May. I have no problem with any of the players, they’re doing their best I’m sure.
Nice of you to pop up after beating Hofstra by 3 though. Must’ve missed you taking your moral high ground after SIU-C last week.
