  1. Even when our defense has been good under Ford it has never approached RM-level good. And I think we all know it never will if we're honest. As for his post-game comments, it feels like the only players we should be confident in seeing back next year are Yuri, Gibson, Fred, and Franco. Not to say anyone specific will be told to leave. But everyone else may get the "You aren't guaranteed a spot in the playing rotation going forward."-talk as they wrap up the year.
  2. This. Hopefully Parker is good enough that whether to give minutes to Hargrove or Strickland becomes a moot point.
  3. On the one hand I get it. On the other I don't think you can act bigger than the NIT when you haven't won a single game in one since Brad Soderberg was the coach. Our performance last year was equally uninspired even with it being the last hurrah of French and Goodwin.
  4. And a big chunk of the crowd is getting up and leaving. If Mizzou does come calling I'm not sure we don't want Ford to listen.
  5. If Perkins were to come back and Parker can play defense; Hargrove, Strickland, Nesbitt and everyone else will have to scratch and claw to get any significant minutes.
  6. Absolutely.......but they hit 7 others.
  7. Some would say it can be more effective against the 3 to try and deny the shot even if it means you get blown by sometimes. Deny the shot and not just "get a hand up". We've let them attempt twice as many 3s as they have 2s!!!!!!!
  8. Because we can't stop them playing man either.
  9. Did you type this before or after he missed a dunk, threw the ball away blindly, and let himself get backed directly under the basket and scored on?
  10. Was looking at UNI's schedule and aside from a nice 10pt win on the outskirts of Olean, they have struggled on the road this year. Their road games, even against the dregs of the MVC, have resulted in losses or wins by 5pts or less. Fill Chaifetz, defend the 3 and SLU should have this one.
  11. When have defended the three well in Ford's tenure? A team of 4 Jimmersons and a big is this defense's worst nightmare
  12. Sad realization while watching the end of one, I don’t think a healthy Perkins would have changed the outcome. That’s how bad a matchup Davidson is for us.
  13. The model can't account for Ford's defensive schema having no answer for a team where everyone can shoot from outside.
  14. Ford certainly won’t be at the top of their list. But if they do an “exhaustive” search (and don’t already have 2-3 finalists in mind) I imagine Travis’s agent will at least get a call to see if there is any mutual interest.
  15. This is the only place he’s allowed to use that handle anymore.
  16. Former Billiken assistant Tanner Bronson is on the staff there as well.
  17. The Hyland Center is pretty small. Right there with Fordham and LaSalle. But given LU’s ambitious nature I wouldn’t be shocked if an expansion or new build comes before too long. At least if the football team’s revenues grow.
  18. Full schedule announced today. Looks like the first half of their season will be played at Hermann, the second half at SIUE, and the final game at the fully-armed and operational Centene Stadium. https://www.stlcitysc.com/news/st-louis-city2-to-host-first-ever-mls-next-pro-match-vs-rochester-new-york-fc
  19. Every home buy game against a Central Arkansas or Mississippi Valley that could have been against a Lindenwood, SEMO, or SIUE is just needlessly leaving a few $$ on the table. And since the team is usually out of sorts in their first true road game of the season, it couldn’t hurt for it to be against a weaker opponent where at least SLU fans can make the trip.
  20. If we can’t out-draw their alums at Chaifetz we may as well shut it all down.
  21. One of the Post articles did say 10% of the students are athletes. It is what they’ve done to differentiate themselves and I guess it has worked. The university is a lot different from the sleepy Presbyterian school is was pre-2000.
  22. I thought they were near the top of NAIA when Brad Soderberg was there but that was a few years back.
  23. Ford is doing quite well at recruiting and fairly well overall. But how is getting to a higher league going to help Ford when he can't win in the A10? I like the A10 and think if anything it doesn't get enough respect nationally. But anyone who thinks this SLU team would finish any higher than 3rd in the MWC, AAC, or WCC isn't paying attention. And I hate to say it but we'd be lucky to finish in the top half of the Big East.
