Yes, I agree with your point, which is probably what Skip was saying, too. (Sorry Skip) It is not like you get to "choose" to be fouled, though. The Evans play and the two Conklin plays were at our end. Evans did get hit, but, as I recall the ball bounced in for him. Still, I would rather have the rebound and a attempt rather no rebound. As to who get the minutes, well, I guess RM and Porter are working on that. If the Bills don't go dry for that big stretch, the whole discussion is moot. I wonder if all teams (i.e., not just the Bills) have these long scoring droughts? Seems as though the Bills have their share. One issue that the Bills have with the Frosh is that all the offensive options are not put in. So, the defense has a higher likelihood of being able to antcipate the offense. Peace out.

Yeah, no kidding! You should have played in the Industrial Leagues in Detroit. Blood in just about every game. Better to have a hustling rebound than not--even if the probability of a score or a foul is low, no?

I agree that not getting those points hurts, but those shots are, in fact, brutally contested. Headfakes might help, but the time they take gives other defenders time to collapse. From what I saw, BC was hammered on two missed "bunnies" and perhaps there could have been a call. With all due respect, I am sure that you would agree that playing inside in D-1 is not exactly like playing in the CYO.

What really sucked was that the band was there ready to play the banner at the start of the women's game, and whoever makes these decisions decided to go with a recording instead. Good googly moogly.

Mr. Moser also opined that Mr. Manning: is a true 5. can run the floor. is aggressive, which will help with rebounding. can shoot short hooks with either hand. can catch and shoot (but does not have 3-point range). Mr. Moser also said that this signing is it for this period. My opinion from listening is that Mr. Moser is quite excited by this signing (and beyond what would be normal just to have signed a new player).

As I said, your post makes a lot of sense--just like you have outlined. Loe's outside shot will stretch the defense. It seems that the Bills tended to peal back last year after a shot went up--so it did not seem to me that the Bills had a lot of opportunity for offensive rebounds. With defensive rebounded, however, well, that calls for men amoung "Yutes". The way the A-10 "refs" seem to call the game most likely means the Bills might simply have to be tougher and smarter when it comes to positioning. As you said, though, all we have to analyze so far is two scrimmages against guys no one knew. One reason to support your notion that CR could still be solid is that he is young--he came to college at what, 17? It does take time to develop bigs--especially if they are not done growing. Not having WR and KM will be on fans' minds for a while--but, I do not think it will be on the mind of the guys on the court At least, it better not--the other team could care less and RickMa will not allow it. The Bills gotta "run what they brung" and we, as good fans, gotta support the team on the floor--especially because they will give us a lot of effort.

Count me in the first camp you mention (even though your post makes a lot sense to me). I just recall how much SLU struggled when KM did not play the whole game--or, was even on the bench. I agree that the defensive presence and "Dunkenstein" moments provided by WR (in his 20-25 minutes, say) will be missed. I think, however, without KM (and all those minutes per game), the team will be rudderless for a while. Sure seems to me that the Frosh blend right in. The question is, to what level of play are they blending? A lower one than where the Bills were at the end of the year last year, or about the level at the end of the year? Has to be a lower level at the moment, anyway. RickMa and his staff and the guys on the team will give it their all. Of that, I am confident. Whether their all will lead the Bills out of the wilderness, well, the answer lies ahead--beginning Friday. Any "W" is a good "W" (especially before the end of the semester).

+1. I think he will become a lock-down defender as well as a maker (i.e., not a "shooter"). In time, I think the A-10 will be happy to see him graduate (like we were happy to see Jimmy Baron graduate, and a bunch of other guys I can't recall right off because of a self-inflicted bourbon-induced haze over some football outcomes....).

How did the LaSalle Women's BB team make it here to play last night? Were they on multi-game trip? Or, did they fly in from Philly (somehow)? Or, did they take the Cavallo Bus Line? Or, did they drive their own cars? Or, did they hitchhike? Seems strange that they made it here and the Bills are still in Philly. (?) Are the Bills going to have Dayton show up in Philly? Or..? Just curious.

Or, why not take a couple of buy fees from playing anyone "long bus-ride" close at their place early in the season say, Louisville (new arena), Kentucky (Rupp, what 27K?), Memphis, Illinois, Indiana, KU, or heck even maybe that school in the MidMo. Or find someone willing to pay some top $ anywhere. The game will be televised if it is against a BCS team. It seems to me that Temple would play anyone anywhere anytime and it seemed to work for them. If SLU is going to lose a game to Bowling Green, cripes SLU may as well lose to Ohio State (or Michigan State). I don't buy that crap that "nobody wants to play SLU." I mean, who wouldn't play SLU at home, the way SLU plays on the road. How many road conference games has SLU won in the A-10? With that road record, I am sure that folks are quaking at the very thought of SLU hanging 45 on them in their own place. (BTW, has anyone out there analyzed BB scoring? It sure seems that the Bills seem to be shut down more than anyone around--of course, we are all close to this situation. But, 20 vs. GW; 36 vs. Dayton, 36 vs. Richmond, 40 in the A-10 Tourney a few years back). The thing that gets me is the Jeckel and Hyde aspect of the program. (1) Building a $60mm plus arena with no parking garage (which, could analyzed as a stand-alone project--you telling me that many of our long-time fans would not pay $10-15 per game to park inside a garage where they could walk to the game inside and leave their coats in the car?). (2) Hiring a top dollar coach and then apparently abandoning charter flights. Why not see whether SLU could sell out a whole plane and take the band, cheerleaders (oops, forgot, SaintSations), donors, staff, faculty, students, students who win a drawing for a trip to go to Olean(!) or NYC, or Philly, or any of the road destinations) and travel "well" to the SEVEN conference road games. Suppose it costs $100,000 a game to charter a big jet. Charge the students a $100 annual fee and give them free hoop tickets to men's and women's games (you think the men's team is struggling, yikes). That would be $800k to $1.2mm, depending on whether UG or all students were charged. Many schools charge extra fees for "prepaid athletic attendance." Just announce it in plenty of time (unlike the graduation fee) so that students who wish to leave SLU instead of paying the extra $100 get the chance to vote with their feet. And the ones who stay, no tears.

I agree. I wonder if this situation stems from one of those "match-up" deals. But, then why let THEM dictate to US? Why not make THEM worry about matching up with US? If this SLU team cannot break a press with Willie in the game stationed by the bucket, then it is simply time to give our hoop program the same status as our gridiron program. Cripes. Of course, RM and PM know the situation WAAAAAY better than I do. Still, I would like someone to ask RM sometime about his approach to "match-ups". In the rambling diatribe that would follow, I bet we would learn something interesting. All I want is that SLU finds themselves in the game with a chance to win it. Circle the wagons, Bills.

Went to the past two games versus SIUE and Bradley. Noticed that Kaelin Reid and India Warfield were not in uniform (nor, as best as I could tell, in the arena). It's easy for me to miss something, but where are they? Also, AK55 seems to be nicked. Left shoulder? Thanks. See y'all Saturday afternoon. Let's help the Bills squish the arachnids.

DoctorB, I agree that a new thread containing some Ellis facts would be greatly appreciated. With respect, I do think, however, that standardized tests are not always the "boogie-man." As you know, there is a joint hypothesis problem with respect to standardized tests. Also, unless one uses an individual test for each student, most college exams and quizes are "standardized" to some extent. JJL

I agree with your statement that the full roster is a good situation. It appears that SLU will most likely have one player redshirt--reducing the roster to 12. The obvious benefit is that the team can practice with all players (i.e., no coaches have to play in practice, although I would think that Alex Jensen will still practice with the team). Also, having a full roster means that players with nagging injuries can be sat down if needed for a week during conference play. If there is an injury like Femi's--well, a full roster protects against that as well. I wonder whether there will be players that will, in fact, leave. The returning players do not seem to be have huge egos, and the Freshman might think that in their first year playing time could be limited. I find myself hoping that this group largely stays together. Of course, having a group of 12 Freshman and Sophmores maximizes the odds that some will transfer, because, absent a redshirt here, they would still have at least two years of eligibility at their new school. The more they win, the more likely they will stick together, IMHO. Geez I wish it were late October!

Any reason why just five minutes tonight? Is he healthy? Is BT? Not second-guessing or anything, just curios.
