  1. watching butler and St Joe's things could be really tough
  2. Did anybody see the review of SLU in the Bleacher Report today......it was written by a staff guy named Josh Schock.....must've been a late night composition
  3. I was at the game yesterday. The band and cheerleaders blew La Salle away.....and fans from Temple and St Joe's that we were sitting with said the same......it was great to have them there and they played the National Anthem pefectly to start the game
  4. A good crowd of alumni from Philly let La Salle know we were there....not the prettiest game you ever saw, but, the Bills again played the tough , gritty , tenacious and consistent defense that has carried them through tough games like this The big difference in this year's team is the ability to score from different positions, They purposefully swung the ball to find the open man time and time again, frustrating a seemingly confused La Salle defense. Evans was a force inside as was Conklin.Kwami and Mc Call kept them honest from the arc. But most of all, they were mentally tougher down the stretch on the defensive end while the Explorers tried to play shake and bake and jam underneath. They consistently forced turnovers by overplayining the passing lanes to outwit La Salle, Unfortunately, with Cassity on the floor it's like playing five on four since he refuses at all cost to shoot. But, everyone else picked him up and gave La Salle its first loss of the season at their home gym. All in all, a win that capped a Philly sweep, and with this win, puts them in prime position to win the Big Five title with victories over Villanova, St. Joe's and La Salle. Two good wins at two tough places to play '
  5. Being from Philly, had a chance to see Nova early.....very athletic bigs and a point guard who is at least an equal to KM....boxing out, helping Conklin on the boards and full game defense of the 3 will really be necessary for us to win......we can, and probably should, but it's going to be competitive end to end....Wright coaches them that way....but we can win this game if we play more determined and athletic than we did yesterday
  6. Cody's legs are gone for threes.....he's got to drive at this point or go to a mid range jumper
  7. You are definitely right on the fans....the problem was we all weren't sitting in the same section...I brought five with me, so between us,we're pushing the 11 fan forecast right there....there was somw razzing from other fans, but nothing outrageous...what I heard from a Rhody fan was that they were not so crazy about a new team that was going to contend in what had been a St Joe's,Temple, Xavier, Dayton stronghold for years....I was glad to be there and hope next year we can use the board to rally a group of us to go and take another step in letting people know that they will have to deal with SLU as a force in the league
  8. Well, just got back from the game....tough day...it was paintless....couldn't score in the paint....couldn't defend in the paint...since I haven't seen them live before, it was informative to see how bad we miss a dominant big to break the press or pressure on our outside game....the kids played hard....but didn't seem to have quick enough feet to fight through the screens or defend the more athletic open game that Rhode Island presented.....we also could not create our own shots off the picks....still a great stride forward....let's see what happens with the NIT
  9. How many of us will be at Friday's game....anybody got an idea where to meet?....We've got to be there in as much force as we can muster to cheer them on....if St Joe's plays us , they will bring a crowd....maybe not so much URI....but let's get there if you can
  10. I hope their legs are not going with all the airballs....have to step up the D against the break
  11. I hope their legs are not going with all the airballs....they'll have to step up the D and deny the break better
  12. Being from Philadelphia, and seeing this young team pick up two hard earned victories, I was really looking forward to the articles coming out to see what the coach and media made of what seemed to be a great accomplishment for the Billikesns Instead, unlike the complimentary story on the Bills on Philly.com (Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News), STLToday comes out with this diatribe from Majerus on a myriad of topics ranging from his opinion on travel, his opinion on academic rigor, his opinion on the league, his opinion on the character and sensibility of the institution that pays him. All he left out was stem cell research and the right to choose--and he would have covered the waterfront I'm not saying that these statements lacked validity, but they rang of immaturity and unnecessary bravado on the part of a seasoned, successful coach who certainly has had innumerable opportunities to talk to his supervisors about the situation in private before airing the lalundry in the press. So, hurray for the Bills on two really nice, character driven, well played defensively wins away from home....wish the coach could have led with that,,,,can't imagine Coach K or Jim Boeheim or Jim Calhoun, as emotional as they are, getting caught behaving this way.....now, to fight through the tough home stretch for a possible NIT bid
  13. Still the best we've been on the road for a long while.....]
  14. Considering his comments about post season play, the preferred league, conference tournaments and his wrap up statements about the team in general, he seems to be suffering from the fatigue of a season that kind of gassed out on him in the last five games.....when things could have gone a little better, he and the team have made some progress, suffered for senior scoring leadership and look forward to two years to build the Bills into a tournament team......he sometimes puts tongue before brain in these matters....always has in his career.....but as Lombardi said , "Fatigue makes cowards of us all"---a phrase he likes to use.....he's no coward, but should probably wait on his opinions and analysis until he gets a bit more rest and perspective
  15. I was at Temple...they were bad....but not tonight.....they played hard , had no senior stud shooting in the late game....but the kids fought hard.....they may be mediocre now, but, they showed they could hang around....one of the seniors had to pick it up at the end.....they played small
  16. Wow.....tough to be a Bill backer in this town....tough night with Temple scoring at will in the first half and us not being able to throw the ball in the ocean and hit the water.....freshmen or no freshmen, Fran Dunphy did a good job preparing Temple defensively and took Kevin out of the game.....that left Tommie on the road as the only upperclassman option....11-6 looked real good to me from 1200 miles, but, up close, we'll be lucky to win another two on thee road unless some big steps up and we play a whole game on the road.....second half was encouraging somewhat......or maybe it was the fact that I went for the Maalox at halftime
  17. [c olor=#0000FF][/color] You make a good point.....Georgetown is a bad place to end up when you're road weary.....Thompson's motion offense will put a team to sleep even if they're rested and alert
  18. Hey Andy Georgetown scored 100 against them Monday night......progress might not be what you think
