Soccer players command the pitch at Robert R. Hermann Stadium, dribbling and sprinting as they try in vain to fit the ball between the net's tiny holes. In the first five games of the season, the men's team has posted a 4–1 record and vaulted into the top ten in the NCAA rankings. The women opened the regular season with a win over Western Michigan, and will look to carry that momentum as the season progresses. Inside Chaifetz Pavilion, meanwhile, the women's volleyball team starts the season in pursuit of the young program's fourth NCAA tournament appearance. Early in the season, sophomore middle blocker Megan Gilbert has emerged as a leader, earning Atlantic-10 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors on September 16. Saint Louis BillikensThe city of Saint Louis may be known as the Gateway to the West, but for many of the nation's premier soccer players, it’s the final destination. That's because, with 10 NCAA Division I championships to their name, the Saint Louis Billikens have built a soccer tradition more lasting than a pair of cleats left to dry in wet cement. While men's soccer may be the Billikens' flagship program, they are a formidable force across a variety of sports, including men's basketball, a program that has made it to the NCAA Tournament seven times. 2. I don't think getting all 3 would necessarily create a problem, but I'd like to add another PG because you always want good PG depth (especially if we are in a league with VCU).
  3. Jones will be a junior this season (2013-14). However, he is expected to redshirt because he injured his wrist on Butlers overseas trip this summer. Therefore, he has 2 years left, but is expected to use them for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. These would correspond with the first 2 seasons of Martin's collegiate career.
  4. I don't necessarily think we need a big PF for the 2014 class. In terms of "bigs", Manning & Glaze will be seniors in 2014-15 and Lancona & Agbeko will be Sophomores. We already have Gillmann in the 2014 class as well. A big PF would be nice, but not a necessity as much as SF.
  5. Jackson Clark ‏@Premium_Hoopers1h Kelan Martin will officially visit SLU, Texas Tech and Butler
  6. Someone has found their way out of the wash basin: Corey Evans ‏@coreyevans_101m 2014 Blair Academy forward Brett Jolly will take a visit to Pepperdine in October Corey Evans ‏@coreyevans_101m Brett Jolly has also gained new interest from TCU, Saint Louis, Arkansas, Colorado, South Alabama, Tulane, and Georgia Tech
  7. Yeah. I should have left that part out. I don't think he is talking about walk-ons, but if you include them that muddies things because it further broadens the talent gap between the most talented "D1" prospects and the least talented "D1" prospects.
  8. I think the main thing is that "D1 player" is an incredibly broad term. There are close to 350 division 1 basketball programs and the caliber of player at #1 is completely different than at #300+. I'm not sure if you are considering them Div 1 or not, but walk-ons farther complicate things. Likely any high school basketball player with the grades and the work ethic could probably walk-on at a lower level D1 school. People on this board are mostly concerned with local prospects only if they are good enough to play for SLU, can make it academically, and have interest from SLU. Therefore, constantly posting about guys who will wind up at SEMO, SIUE, or Tennessee Martin is only going to result in ridicule from other posters.
  9. I've seen where others sites do a "guess who's birthday is today" kind of thing where they throw out random facts about a current/past player and then allow other commenters to guess using spoiler tags to not give it away to future guessers. People can even post how many facts they had to read before guessing correctly. I think this would be fun to do with Billikens and former Billikens. For today it might go something like this: Guess which former/current Billikens is celebrating their birthday today? 1. He played guard for the Billikens. 2. He was listed at 5'10" 3. His hometown is Milwaukee, WI 4. He played for the Billikens from 2009-13. 5. He went to Dominican HS where he was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Wisconsin. 6. We earned made 3 All-Atlantic 10 teams (1 2nd & 2 3rds) 7. He is 7th all time in career points for the Billikens 8. He is 3rd all time in both assists and steals 9. He wore #3 10. His name is Alternatively we could do this for famous/infamous Billikens.com posters as well.
  10. I honestly did not even notice that when I 1st read the article a few months ago or just now when I looked it up again. Nice catch. Very ironic that an article referencing a SLU team's lack of dunking was written by someone who shares a name with one of SLU's best ever dunkers.
  11. Obligatory link to the SI article about the 1993-94 team having only 4 dunks the entire season: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1004867/index.htm
  12. Jerry Meyer ‏@jerrymeyer2475h Center Ben Lammers down to Georgia Tech, Marquette & Miami. @GrantMilner w the story. http://247sports.com/Article/Ben-Lammers-down-to-Georgia-Tech-Marquette-Miami-150521 … Might be time to take Lammers off the list.
  13. This would make sense. Coach Stone has been tweeting a lot about being out recruiting.
  14. Pistol, Prentiss Nixon's twitter handle is @AyeYooPrentiss_
  15. Reddit's r/CollegeBasketball is doing a 150+ teams in 150+ days thing where someone does a write up on various college basketball teams including history & season outlook. SLU's is a couple of weeks old now, but I do not think it has been posted on here yet: http://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/comments/1lg7fb/150_teams_in_150_days_saint_louis_university/ Decent write-up. Nothing earth shattering. Beware the comments section gets into the MVC debate a bit.
  16. I should probably read Pistol's list. I guess I skimmed past that part usually just read the "updated" info and gloss over the rest. Thanks.
  17. Any one know if this guy (also here) is related to Nai Carlisle? Seems it may be hard to lure him away from Purdue if he is.
  18. Not sure who they were looking at, but I saw this on twitter: Derek Thomas ‏@coachDThomas841h Marian HS.(Mi). Had Saint Louis at our workout today.
  19. GoldandBlack.com ‏@GoldandBlackcom17 Sep Saint Louis assistant coach Calbert Cheaney here at West Lafayette HS checking in on 2016 G Nai Carlisle in open gym.
  20. Corey Evans ‏@coreyevans_1041m Josh Speidel has been seen by UIC, NIU, South Alabama, NKU, Saint Louis, IUPUI, Lehigh, SIUE, Lipscomb, & Wright State over the past 2 weeks
  21. SpieceIndyHeat2015 ‏@IndyHeat201516 Sep Purdue and Saint Louis were in to Zionsville junior Derrik Smits today. @SmitsDerrik Butler and Clemson tomorrow.
  22. Another name to add to the 2016 list: Cordell Pemsl Iowa Elites ‏@IowaElites1 Sep Purdue, Wichita St, Stanford, Wisconsin, Butler, VA, UNI, IA, St Louis, & Creighton are all in contact with 2016 super sophomore @c_pemsl40
  23. Bringing this thread back from the dead to link this: Report: Illinois State's Daishon Knight suspended indefinitely I am sure glad he didn't wind up at SLU. Thank heavens for the slutty co-eds that lured him to Illinois State.
  24. Yeah, I don't get the logic of putting it on Halloween night. I know it is only an exhibition game, but I would expect attendance to be very poor. There are too many other things going on (kids trick-or-treating, folks staying home to pass out candy, various other halloween related parties, etc.)
  25. Sounds like Crews is getting some real studs in the classroom. As you say Gillmann is a great student and reports are that Bartley is also strong academically. I haven't heard anything specifically about Roby. In terms of the 2013 guys, reports are that Crawford is very smart, too.
