  1. Yeah. It was an interesting situation. Both SLU and LaSalle agreed to end the game at a certain time due to travel schedules which resulting in the final regular season game ending in a tie. SLU finished with a 18-7-1 A-10 record and St. Joe's was at 18-8. I'm not sure how the tie-breaker would have worked if they finished tied. Definitely weird to "win" that way, but it was agreed in advance of the game. If SLU had lost because of the time limit, it would have been pretty crappy. Getting the #1 seed and a bye in the A10 tournament is pretty huge.

  3. Coach Hendrickson sure has the baseball program on the right track. Congrats. Let's hope they can win the A-10 tournament which SLU is hosting this weekend.

  6. Dustin Maguire is now an attorney. Good for him. He's been through a lot, so it is nice to see him being successful. He could have been a little classier and not taken a shot at Majerus though. Maguire Switches Courts

  9. Bump for the last day of the online auction which ends at 5pm. http://www.32auctions.com/organizations/13836/auctions/15339 Surely someone has a kids B-day party coming up that they wouldn't mind dropping $50 on for the Billiken to attend.

  12. You may want to check the date. The dinner is tonight.
  13. I can't believe no one has bid on the "Billiken Appearance" yet. The possibilities for this are endless, but I'm thinking something like this would be epic: Royals mascot Sluggerrr gets to third base with a lap dance (NSFW photo)
  14. I'll also throw out there that McBroom is an excellent FT shooter. Therefore, in close games he will likely be adding quite a few extra points at the end of games that will boost his scoring average.
  15. This argument seems to make a little bit of sense. I'm not trying to argue McBroom is as good or better than McCall & Jett overall, just that as sophomores they were similarly good at scoring. I don't want to have to renew my KenPom subscription to check your assertions. Efficiency can be at least partly attributed to shooting %s McBroom - overall .352 3pt .349 Jett - overall .467 3pt .333 McCall - overall .423 3pt .348 Evans - overall .460 3pt .346 Seems like you've got a good point. I don't think you can compare Jett & Evans % because their shots were likely mostly at the rim or wide open 3s because they didn't shoot many. McBroom's % are a lot closer to McCall's, but McCall was better. I still think McBroom will lead the team in scoring, but based on these %s it looks like he is only efficient at being 3 pt gunner and will need to improve at scoring other ways if the Billikens are to be successful.
  16. McBroom wouldn't be my ideal choice at PG either, but IMO he is going to be the best option SLU has next year. He doesn't seem to have the leadership, discipline, defense, or ball control that Jett, McCall, and Mitchell had. However, expecting a freshman to come in and out play a guy that contributed a lot to a team that won the A10 title last year is crazy.
  17. Okay. I assume you meant "not" the minutes played. Let's try this again. Sophomore year stats: Evan - 7.9 ppg, 34 games, 268 total points, 852 minutes, .315 points per minute McBroom - 7.3 ppg, 34 games, 248 total points, 730 minutes, .340 points per minute McCall - 7.0 ppg, 33 games, 231 total points, 756 minutes, .306 points per minute Jett - 6.5 ppg, 34 games, 220 total points, 754 minutes, .292 points per minute So McBroom actually looks better if you go by points per minute played. Please actually look into the facts before you try to make an argument. McBroom struggling down the stretch actually gives me more hope than if he had performed at a consistent level the entire year and wound up with the same stats. Perhaps he had a nagging injury of some kind or he ran out of gas after sitting out a year due to the transfer. For better or worse, McBroom will more likely than not lead the Billikens in scoring and be our primary PG next year.
  18. PPG during their Soph Years: Evans 7.9 McBroom 7.3 McCall 7.0 Jett 6.5 McBroom is the only returning player to ever average more than 3.8 ppg at the Div I level (Grandy had 3.8 ppg last year, Ash had 2.9 ppg at Nova). Therefore, it seems pretty accurate to call McBroom our only proven scorer. IMO it will be a pretty big shock of McBroom does not lead the Billikens in scoring next year.
  19. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think Manning will average 20+ minutes a game primarily because of foul trouble. He averaged 11.9 minutes per game this year and struggled with foul trouble in multiple games. His .142 fouls per minute easily led the team ahead of Lancona .117 and Loe .106. Rob Loe who was/is a much better player and less foul prone only averaged 27.7 minutes. Jolly will get his chances, but I would imagine we will see Lancona or Agbeko at the 5 for at least 10 minutes or so a game.
  20. Based on bringing in 3 freshman "combo" guards, I'm not so sure about this. Seems to me Crews likes the idea of having 2 guys who can handle the ball on the court. Although you are probably correct that we will see some 1 PG time (just because of the personnel) which we rarely saw the past 4-5 years. Here is my prediction: 1. McBroom 2. Reynolds 3. Crawford/Yacoubou (I can't decide on this one) 4. Glaze 5. Manning In reality the lineup will be very fluid. I could see pretty much anyone except maybe Gillmann (because he is expected to redshirt) getting a start this year. I hope that the guys on the team realize that while there are plenty of available minutes there is also ample competition for them. Therefore, whoever works the hardest will likely get the most minutes especially early on. I think Glaze is really being overlooked. I know most people are down on him and view him as just an "energy guy" who is prone to making tons of mistakes. However, in reality he is our only proven rebounder and inside scorer going into the year. Manning should score inside as well, but his rebounding is pretty awful for a 7 footer and he is definitely softer than Glaze. I seem to recall most of Lancona's buckets coming either in transition or from outside. Agbeko is expected to score inside and rebound, but the jury is still out. Jolly & Gillmann have been billed as "skilled bigs" who play more away from the basket. That leaves Grandy as the only inside presence and rebounder that I have any faith in. GG also seems to be a tireless worker so I expect him to improve over the summer. IMO Grandy didn't fit well last year because both Evans and Jett were guys who scored at the rim. GG was the same way, so having him in there with those 2 caused problems on offense. With them gone, I expect Grandy will play more because we will have shooters on the floor at those other spots (McBroom, Crawford, Ash, Reynolds, Yarbrough, Lancona) and it will free him up to score inside / get the "garbage" buckets on rebounds.
