  1. There's nothing to believe at this point because no one has signed. I am just asking people to hold off on judging the coaching staff until something actually happens. What's the point in running a coach's name through the mud about something that might happen? What you are doing is speculating and gossiping. If you are going to hold Majerus to some moral standard when it comes to keeping players, you should have done the same when Sodie talked about running off John Seyfert. Until you do that, you have no credibility on this issue.
  2. I don't think he would have ever been all-conference. But when we lost to teams like RI and Xavier it was because we needed another big down low. Thompson did just fine against Kenny Freese when they were both freshman so there is no reason to think he couldn't have held his own this year.
  3. You use the word "cut" and, in doing so, imply that there is no way we could have an open scholly next year without pushing someone out. I know you love to litter the message board with negativity about Majerus, but what's the point in doing so if all you are doing is speculating. If it actually happens that way, then feel free to rant. Until then, you are just gossiping like a little girl. Can you never give the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt on this? I can think of a few current players who I would not be shocked to hear are not returning next year - all for reasons of their own - not because they were cut. Brett Thompson was not cut, and I'm sure the coaching staff would have loved to have him for the Rhode Island game. Don't you think the coaches have every right to cover themselves in case something similar happens?
  4. Uhhh, we also played Georgia. Illinois probably won't make the tourney either. So you played 3 tourney teams out of conference and Richmond was looking like a bubble team a few weeks ago. Wow.
  5. They cost $3k a pop. Are you really surprised that not many people are willing to pay $200 per game, per seat? That's actually outrageous.
  6. this is correct. happened with justin tatum back in the days. he transferred from riverview to CBC after freshman or soph year. he was not allowed to play varsity for a year but was allowed to play on the jv. their jv team was pretty solid that year with justin and marcus allen, who was larry's cousin and who also transferred from a public school.
  7. i don't know if we can have both at SLU. in the past we had nice guys who you think were better people than majerus. none of them succeeded at the level that it seems like majerus is bringing us to. now we have majerus. i think what the majority of the board is saying is that we prefer having a winning coach to a nice guy coach.
  8. A "better person"???? Where do I sign up for the class where I will be taught which coaches are the best people. What are you basing this on? Let me guess - what's in the media. Or do you actually know our coahces on a personal level?
  9. Either you r ring sarcastic or u r on crack. U really think our team would be only slightly better than that group? Also cotto would never have been here had rm not been hired.
  10. Real mature Roy. Are you ever going to explain why it is that you had no problem with soderberg openly stating at one point that he intended to "run off" John Seyfert?
  11. he explained at lunch that he had to leave yesterday afternoon for a trip to oregon to visit with Brian Conklin and his family and coaches for a few days. i'd much rather have him there than at a golf tourney talking to a bunch of drunk people.
  12. we have the best incoming class in the history of the program. you are a moron. *s mean nothing. cotto is a 1* and i'll bet he ends up being the best of the bunch. JH would have been icing on the cake. doesn't mean the class is bad.
  13. I agree that the talent coming in will be a step up from what left, but right now? I think we will see significant improvement at the point right off the bat. However, down low is a different story. Thompson is better than Husak right now, but not a whole lot. In two years, he'll be in a completely different ballpark. But I don't know if we are any better off right now with Thompson, Conklin, and Eberhardt than we were with Husak, Eberhardt and Meyer, particularly where we had Danny Brown to fill in at the 4 and, in emergencies, MR and AK. Much less depth now down low.
  14. I hope there is a backup plan because next year may be worse than this past year. Here's how things stack up right now PG - Kwamain M. SG - Lisch/Eckerle SF - Liddell/John/Cassity PF - Eberhardt/Conklin C - Thompson At this point, we can't really count Reed or Cotto because neither have qualified as far as we know. Am I missing anyone? It really makes me think RM did not actually run off all 4 of the players we lost. Certainly, he would rather have AK and MR than no one down low to back up the three big men we have. Unless maybe there is someone else out there that we don't know about.
  15. B-Law when are you going to go away? you make up facts. how was AT "screwed all season". Are you in the know with the Bills program? Seemed to me that he was treated just like the other assistants. Was he answering questions after games as often as PM or PB? No, but he's the third assistant. I also don't think he was kept on staff so one person would not leave? Please let us know who it was that was going to leave if AT hadn't stayed. I'm sure he was kept around to smooth the transition. Isn't that better than the alternative - being let go with the rest of the staff? You hate Majerus and your own Marquette fans even called you out for it. I found it amusing to read over on the Marquette board how most posters seemed to be on Majerus's side with what has gone on recently. The only one who wasn't was a guy named Mojo. Hmmm. That's you. For those interested in reading the responses to our very own B-Law's bashing of Majerus, read the link below. His own people call him out for being slanted against RM. In fact, I find one guy's post great. He asks B-Law for some evidence that SI really had to search to find people who liked him. Of course, he did not respond. Truth is, he hates RM because he fears what SLU will become. I noticed, by the way, marquette's top recruit is renigging now - looks like the plan to keep Buzz around isn't working out alll that well. http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=415#s=415&a...0&t=2347493 "no, he ran them (and had been recruiting with the idea of running at least a couple of them as far back as November), much like he ran players at Utah. Less than 30% of his recruits at Utah actually played for him for 4 years and SI had to really search to find guys who actually enjoyed playing for him. To me, this is disgraceful. I doubt there was a "good luck" after the "good-bye." 2 of those guys signed just before Fat Ricky took the job, and he could have told them then he had no interest in keep them. 1, Relphorde, was recruited by some high major programs. BTW, for all of the "he's one of us" crowd, he's made comments publically saying SLU is a superior academic institution to MU. Yeah, he's one of us."
  16. i don't know what you're talking about. slu's campus is much nicer than depaul's or siu-c's. i don't really consider wash u an urban campus. its in clayton. urban campuses are marquette, gonzaga, depaul, loyola, xavier, fordham, bc, georgetown, etc. haven't seen bc, gonzaga, or g'town so can't comment on those but slu is much nicer than any of the otherrs.
  17. please fill us in on who these mysterious coaches were that were interested. you're full of it. face it - the top candidates all turned you down. all of them. so you went after the assistant. in actuality, it may turn out to be a good hire, but there is absolutely no objective evidence to suggest that it will. i'm sure you know more about basketball then me since you seem to spend enough time on our board to make a living out of it. it doesn't, however, take any basketball knowledge to know that right now the future is looking brighter for us than you, that while maybe we coulda had gregory, you probably couldn't have. that is just common sense, which you don't have. you are blinded by your obsession with a mediocre program more than you could possibly imagine. most of us don't have delusions of grandeur. you do. in two years, you'll be flaunting your slu law degree and calling your marquette buddies little brother.
  18. you're the one who came on the board talking about "brinks trucks" pulling up for miller and bennett. within days, the committee made up their mind to give it to Williams - yes, after already being turned down by everyone else. weren't you the one who said miller was spotted in milwaukee? they probably never contacted grant because he made it clear he wasn't interested. i only have an interest in marquette because of your idiocy
  19. if he has legit family problems and needs to be close to home, then why is this article implying that he is considering St. Louis, which is pretty far from home, Minnesota.
  20. please tell us who those 2 big names were. it wasn't bennett, miller, or grant. are you calling gregory a big name? there is no obsession. in fact, if you weren't always on here posting, people probably wouldn't even be talking about this. it is your constant badgering and condescending nature that makes us all talk. you are annoying and full of BS. things are now returning to where they were during the spoon days. have fun being at the bottom of the big east. a lifetime assistant coach who has bounced through a million different progs and has one unimpressive year as head coach at new orleans. man, i wish we would have taken him over our old washed up majerus. if the reason they didn't hire the "big names" is because they may have a potential star, then the people doing the hiring are morons. why not hire the big name and keep the potential star on as an assistant? "coulda had gregory. or maybe not."
  21. my prediction is that we will never hear from b-law again. how are the marquette fans spinning this hire, which to me is just baffling. although maybe it shouldn't be because apparently no one was interested. if a big east school can't persuade someone to leave virginia commonwealth, then there are problems at the school. marquette - coulda had gregory. or could they have?
  22. Actually, I'm right clocktower. many people saw harrelson play before he signed and said he was good enough. i can't say i'm one of those, but i will say that evaluating a player requires more than just watching him and saying he's good. it means spotting a player who may turn in to something more. i think slu and every other school who watched him, in that sense underevaluated him. he WAS good prior to his senior year. problem was we didn't recruit him. plain and simple. just like we didn't recruit ahern and just like we chose grimes over shaw. many mistakes were made with the past regime that i just don't think will be made with the current one. how do you say i am dead wrong in that he "apparently was not all that good." did you see him play that fall. many on this board did and were questioning all along why we weren't after him. if you didn't see him play then don't call me dead wrong.
  23. you are ridiculous. there's a huge difference between a coach not being wise enough to seal the deal with a player during his junior year of high school, which majerus has already done with numerous players, and not being able to seal the deal with a player who is still committed to another school. i think we had all been under the impression that harrelson would come to slu if released, however, no one knew how badly soderberg underevaluated him. in other words, we had no idea he'd be recruited by kentucky, indiana, etc. if soderberg would have done his job a few years ago, we wouldn't be in this position. neither you nor he thought harrelson was good enough. we've heard the excuse (that soderberg was holding off for rodney alexander). i think that excuse is ludicrous. first, alexander hasn't proven to be a star, so i guess he had that evaluated wrong. second, why not offer both of them. oh, i forgot, soderberg liked to save half his scholies each year because that makes sense. how bs could have seen him play as many times as he did and not offer him is still beyond me.
  24. you may be right but this guy's resume doesn't impress me a bit. looks like he's bounced around a lot. one year of head coacing experience at new orleans and then he bolts for marquette for more pay. why not gregory
