  1. Thanks for the explanation. I think he would have made the team even without the injury.
  2. That's BS and makes no sense. Could they cut him and not pay him if he wasn't injured? Willie was given a guaranteed contract before he was injured. The Nets always planned to have Reed on the final roster. Willie Reed is proud to have been a Billiken even though he was somewhat screwed over. It's sad that some here continue to denigrate and mock him.
  3. ESPN has SLU listed as 2-2; I'm going to go with that.
  4. I don't think anybody on this board is familiar enough with the relationship between Willie Sr. and Jr. to draw conclusions on Sr.'s parenting skills. Even if he doesn't know what vindication means, he still sounded fairly articulate to me. I completely understand why he would be angry with SLU, and not want his son to go back. He doesn't sound like that bad of a Dad.It seems classless to bad-mouth the guy. But, I also think that it's probably in Willie Jr's best interests to go back to SLU, for many reasons. I assume that SLU would let him come back if he jumps through all the required hoops, and if Majerus wants him back. As far as his academic standing goes, as far as I know, he was academically eligible to start practice with the team in the first semester, so he should be academically eligible to play in the 2nd semester. Does anybody have any different information?
  5. My 12 yr old daughter and I will be there for sure. We will be the one's storming the court after the Billiken's victory!
  6. It's a lock; big dance next year; sweet 16 within 3 yrs.
  7. A few years ago, I needed to get a passport. Well, dear old mom had lost my birth certificate. But, it was easy to get another one with an on-line search. If you Google "Birth Certificate", you will find several businesses that can quickly get your birth certificate. You'll need to know the county you were born in, maybe an SSN#. I don't remember everything, but I remeber that it was easy. Cost about $25. Good Luck
  8. the CCC is if they agree to convert to a Jesuit institution.
  9. First of all, there is no evidence at all to suggest that RM wants to move to the MVC other than the rumor started by that hack (and SLU hater) Bernie M. Secondly, it should be obvious that, based on the type of University that Father Biondi has built during his tenure, and the direction that he would like to take it, teaming up with the likes of SW Mo. State, N. Iowa, and SIU-C wouls be a step in the wrong direction. The MVC has had a couple of good years- which is an aberration in its non-storied history, while the A-10 has had a couple of bad years and is definitely on the rise. Thirdly, the administrations at Dayton and Xavier are not stupid either, and they have no intention of stepping down to the MVC. Along with Western KY, SE Mo. State is a much better candidate for MVC inclusion.
  10. to think that a potential coach would make such a demand, and just as ridiculous to think that SLU would consider it.
  11. Bernie's got it all wrong. RM doesn't want to have anything to do with the MVC. He left the small-time when he left Ball State. My well informed people tell me what he really wants is the CCC- Catholic Collegiate Conference. The teams for the conference haven't been finalized yet, but think: SLU Notre Dame Georgetown Creighton Marquette DePaul Xavier St. Johns St. Joes who's missing? Anyway, as many of you probably know Pope Benedict XVI is a rabid basketball fan. But, as many of you probably don't know, he and RM have been friends ever since RM gave the then Cardinal Ratzinger courtside tickets to the Final 4 in 1998. Well, the pending official seal of approval from JC's right hand man will be all it takes to finalize plans for the CCC. I, for one, am on board 100%.
  12. It is completely ridiculous to think that RM would demand, and SLU would agree to a move to the MVC. Slu is in the A-10 instead of the MVC because the A-10 has universities that are much more similar (scholastically, philosophically and athletically) than the MVC. Hey, I'm not crazy about the A-10 either. What we really need is the Catholic Collegiate Conference. Now there is a conference.
  13. It has come to my attention that there may a snag in landing Rick Majerus. Go to www.presstelegram.com/sports/ci_5709802. Below is part of the article: When the Long Beach job opened, he became intrigued, and made contact with Vic Cegles through a mutual friend. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Advertisement -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The two men met and talked often, and it appeared for a time that Majerus was destined for Long Beach. But this is a man who has been battling a serious weight problem and has had several heart attacks, and was given a lifetime insurance policy while at Utah that might have been canceled - he won't be vested in it until next year - had he accepted the 49er position. That proved to be the decisive factor in his reluctantly deciding not to come to Long Beach, even though he told both Cegles and Alexander that he badly wanted to. Is he vested yet? One thought: Maybe RM is interested in St. Louis partly because of the city's hospital's reputation as a world leader in cardiac care.
  14. If we get Rick Majerus, I'll make sure all my kids go to SLU...if they graduate highschool...and we're Jewish!
