  1. Almost forgot-when the last time SLU went to the Sweet 16???
  2. >Good. SIU is in for a very rude awakening in the very near >future. And you can see the denial and fear, disguised as >false boldness, in SIU supporter posts. They know that they >are in trouble with Rick Majerus at SLU. And they are, >whether they are ready to admit it or not. Same goes for >Missouri State. And, for that matter, the same goes for >Mizzou. Majerus would have that kind of rubbish >plastered all over the STL media. It is doubtful that SIU >will get away with that stuff against SLU any more in >Carbondale, either. "When was the last time SIU actually won a game against SLU in St. Louis? And how many times before that did SIU win? The results in this series have largely been the product of the home venue. Carbondale is long notorious for being Homerdale." A more pertinent question might be: When was the last time SLU danced?? When was the last time SLU was ranked in the top 25? When was the last time SLU won in Carbondale? (hint- it was prior to SIU winning in STL) And last, but certainly not least, how many games has SLU won with Majerus? Good luck with your 2 season coach (maybe), and your project from Southern Illinois.
  3. >btw -- can anyone explain why Moser would leave a >head-coaching job in the MVC for an assistant position in >the A10? > >please spare me the argument that they might groom him as >head coach when RM leaves. that sounds very dubious to me. He got his ##### fired. That should be readily understandable.
  4. >>I dont understand why he would leave. He just took the team >>to the Sweet 16. He has Justin Bocot coming in who could >>start right away at the sg. He has a stud 6'11 center >>coming in Nick Evans. He's gonna be an MVC all-time great >>and you have another big guy that according to many scouts >>is supposed to be better than Evans in Carlton Fay. I NEVER CEASE TO BE AMAZED.
  5. the difference in this board, and http://www.salukitalk.net/st/index.php this board. You know, kinda like high major and mid major.
  6. By the way, get a real board, this looks like grade school. http://www.valleytalk.net/showthread.php?t=4080

Enjoy it, it is going to last for a while.
  10. >Criminal activity and a SIU-C coach was there. Imagine >that. Seems like the Salukis and crime are attached at the >hip. Especially in the most dangerous city in America. By the way, SIU, U of I, and U of M coaches were there, where was SLU? Good luck in the NIT bubble watch.
  11. >Well, Mr. Phan, this article was about the A-10 vs. the MVC. >We beat one MVC team and played another one close. We are >currently 4th in the A-10 in RPI. We've beat X, GW, RI, and >SJU. We finished tied for third last season. We had a first >round bye. Coming from a semi-elite conference where we >always finished in the top half. Yes, I think most people >would consider us one of the top teams in the A-10. Correction- you lost to two MVC teams this year. Your clock guy gave you one of the games.
  12. In summary: We are an elite class, in terms of intellect, culture, and of course, moral values. We are sophisticated, inner-city dwelling urbanites, insulated by our wealth, dignity, intelligence, and general aura from the drab and dreary plight of other, less fortunate, rural midwesterners. We do not wish to mingle with the common rabble, even if only at an athletic event, in such abyss-like settings as Omaha, Wichita, Des Moines, and God forbid.....Carbondale. We have chosen a path that aligns us with other openminded "correct" people. We are SLU, and we belong in the A10.
  13. Hurry! Tell me again why a recruit would choose SLU over SIU!
  14. > just like 3 or 4 years ago the A10 was clearly superior, >the tides will change again. > > As a whole the A10 has been good for SLU, and it's yet to >be decided in basketball. If we finish with 20 wins and >don't make the tourney, then the A10 hurt us this year would >be a fair argument, but on the other hand we probably >wouldn't win as many games in the MVC. > > The MVC is having one hell of a year. Kudos to them, the >gripe everyone (including me) had last year, was not enough >big wins. They have certainly solved that problem this year. >Does any one know how many top 25 wins they have? > > > Official Billikens.com sponsor of H >Waldman > >Official Sponser of the Stemmler and Ahearn could and would >have helped club. Four in the last two weekends. Looks like you guys will have to stew in your own juices.
  15. If you consider SIU to be an inferior team, in an inferior conference (despite MVC #3, A10 # something-teen), why the obsession with SIU? This must have been the game of the year for you guys. BTW, it is SIU, there is only one D1 SIU, so it is not SIUC, nor "Carbondale", just SIU-see?
  16. >No, they are not better than us, but they do have athletes. >Guys who can't read, yet play intercollegiate athletics. >Guys with criminal records, yet slide through the >"admissions process" at Southern. It's a shame we can't get >players who are like that -- who have no respect for >authority, yet average a double-double a game. We need some >kids from Compton or South Bronx to play for us. And exactly who might those players be? You might want to check on the academic status of the SIU team before you make a total ass of yourself. Good luck wallowing in the obscurity of the A10, Mo. State is going to kick your a$$ too. But take heart, the A10 is a (albeit one bid) "high-major" conference. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.
  17. Dear Also- our basketball program, and team, is better than yours. But look at the money you save every year on travel, and not buying those expensive tickets to watch your team play in the Dance. You have to seek out the positives.
  18. A more pertinent question might be, when was the last time (if ever) that SLU beat a good ACC team? SLU needs to stay in the A10, where they might win that conference, they sure as hell could not compete in the MVC.
  19. A. You cannot, or at least have not, answered my question. B. You obviously do not read the posts on this board.
  20. >About the only thing SIU is on the same level as SLU is on >is athletics. I know of nobody who would honestly choose >SIU over SLU if money was not an issue. On the same level? I would argue that SIU is a couple of levels above SLU right now on athletics, and, by the way, most athletes choose a school because of it's respective athletic program.
  21. Why would a recruit choose SLU over SIU? What would the selling point(s) be? There are only 5 D1 schools that have been to the last 5 NCAA tournaments, SIU is one of those teams, where was SLU for those five years? SIU is ranked by many as a top 25 team this year, where is SLU?I must confess I am always amused by the "we should have offered" (Brooks, Falker, Tatum, Shaw, etc. et al posts), like they were all there for the asking. If not basketball excellence, is it the scenic campus, sandwiched between the friendly confines of Highway 40 and market, why would a kid choose SLU???? Is it playing in the A10 arenas, before home crowds of 700? I just don't get the arrogance.
  22. Cass is a major headcase, he did have a big run-in with his coach. SIU would not touch him with the proverbial 10 foot pole. Lotsa luck UTEP.
