  1. If Ford is counting on Sincere Parker to turn a season around, he's fuoked.
  2. Random Ford Family Burner Account says its a $10,000,000 buyout. His agent should be put into the agent hall of fame for that. Chris May should be launched into the same cannon pointed towards the sun for this. Imagine this. A coach gets fired from a job with all the resources you could ever want. He is being paid 2.4-2.6 million a year. He is the definition of mediocre but has a ton of talent. Another AD hires this guy at a lower level with lower resources but pays him the EXACT same dollar amount annually. Now, no one else was bidding against this AD for the services of this coach. Shockingly enough, the coach performs the same - average, but again the new spot has less resources so the floor is lower. The AD gives him an extension with a full buyout for some unknown reason. I mean jesus how bad is Chris May? Who is Ford's agent? I want him to represent me in something.
  3. 95% agree. I will say that not all guys are getting paid big bucks so a walk on or end of the rotation guy is going to get a pass from me. But a guy like Jimmerson - absolutely.
  4. Will Wade is still on a show cause until 2025 so you can probably cross him off the list. Turgeon has been out of the game since NIL came into play. Would Huggins want to work for a bunch of catholic...whatevers? I'd also hire Brian Wardle in a second at SLU. Guy can rebuild a program and develop talent, something that hasn't been seen here since another Marquette alum roamed the sidelines. A lot of this will depend on what the budget is as well. I don't think they'd pay what Ford is making, but if they were the pool expands significantly. If it is 1-1.5 mill, you can cross a lot of guys off the list. A higher paid mid major guy won't jump for a couple hundred grand raise. DeVries at Drake has a contract through 28-29 so the buyout may be prohibitive although he would probably bring his son with him. Schertz is an interesting one. His team started hot last year and faded bigtime down the stretch. We'll see if he can pull it together this year. He has had a ton of success so far in the portal, as well.
  5. Does Tate do anything above average?
  6. Not exactly what you're looking for, but this has some good splits... https://hoop-math.com/SaintLouis2024.php
  7. Kind of. I think he'd make a good talking head from his 20+ years experience at various level, his playing days at UK, and his folksy banter. I think it would be hard for a guy to go from OkSt to SLU to a low major level or assistant for anyone else at any level.
  8. We don't know the exacts of his contract, but lets say he is owed 2.4 million over the next 3 years. He might have a clause that says it is all due on termination, though. If not, SLU just has to keep paying him that over the next 3 years. Lets assume there is offset language in there so if he gets a job at WIU making 200k, SLU only has to pay 2.2 million each year. It may be in everyones best interest to negotiate a settlement that buys that next 3 years out for an amount less than the 7.2 million owed. Travis gets the money up front to invest or throw a big party or whatever. He also gets rid of the offsets so if he can get 300k to coach somewhere, it is an additional 300k not just the same 2.4 coming to him. SLU gets it off their books at a reduced rate for paying him in cash up front. Maybe, in this example, the right number is 6,250,000. But again - not knowing a damn thing about the language in his contract.
  9. Ford will take his buyout - probably in some sort of present value lump sum - and go one of two ways. I could see him getting a solid role as a studio guy for a sports network. The only coaching job I could see him at would be a 250k-400k a year lower major job. He has already made generational wealth as a coach though, so he'd really have to want to keep coaching.
  10. It isn't 400k. It is 500k++. It comes from about as knowledgable as you can get and not be named Travis or Fred. Like any donor funded initiative, it is that now but could change by 2 pm if someone gets pissed and pulls their support or adds another 100k on top because they had a good year at the dog track. You'll never have evidence of what BVF has, sorry. No NIL collectives are really publishing what they're doing financially. They'll publicize cars, deals with companies, etc, but you won't get the actual payouts to players. There is a lot of bull**** floating around out there about all these deals which is what keeps it interesting.
  11. No, but the billion dollar operation at SLU does. This is not a lot different than a building on campus falling into disrepair. Would you spend 2.5 million annually on repairs or tear it down and rebuild for 8 million.
  12. I don't think theres ever been a positive result from a "Well we can't afford to fire him" situation. The sh!t buffet from not firing someone is worse than eating the sh!t sandwich of firing. Apathy sets in with the fan base. Why should fans care if the administration doesn't? Recruiting falls off (Happened this offseason) because every other coach/handler is saying "Oh yeah Travis won't be there soon" Boosters say "why should I give to this show?" Donations fall off. National prestige falls because the losing continues for multiple years, ie DePaul.
  13. I will not sit here and listen to any Gerry Pollard slander. Pollard is a professional official. Lisch shouldn't have done the crime if he didn't want to do the time.
  14. In a battle of the worst coaches in the A10, Ford emerges with the crown.
  15. I like it for midweek games when kids are in school. Gives more of a chance to bring the K-8 types out for a game. But I am guessing that wasn't a consideration and this is for television purposes.
  16. Rhode Island supposedly has a good program that is backed majorly by the guy that owns the Bucks. I'd say that is probably an above average to high number for the A10, based on a lot of A10 programs being sh!tbag programs.
  17. I talked to a pretty solid source recently that told me SLU has in the neighborhood of 500k +/- 100K for NIL efforts. That is a solid pot, if accurate.
  18. I don't think you can let an AD hire a 3rd coach after 2 firings. But Pestello is charmin soft and the board is weak so who knows...
  19. Well and the fact that SLU did nothing that made him eligible. A couple other schools sued the NCAA and it opened the floodgates.
  20. I think they’re upset about the waiver system. If the NCAA stuck to what they said “absolutely no waivers” this wouldn’t be an issue.
  21. It’s easy to be a “recruiter” when you’re part of the 15-20% with a bag. Now the bag is legal and everyone has one.
