It would destroy women’s college athletics totally. The only surviving sports would be the top of bowl series football, D1 basketball, and a handful of baseball programs. But the dorks from Dartmouth would get….what that they don’t get now?

Pestello should be in front of the firing squad too. Putting the university on the hook for a buyout that massive is negligence. An auto-renewing contract in a sport that has an average coach lifespan of 5 years is negligence. There was no one on earth hiring Travis Ford for more than 1.5 a year. May/Pestello/BOT negotiated against themselves with this. A 8 figure buyout is...criminal. For reference sake, if Michigan State fires Tom Izzo, they owe him $7,000,000. Tony Bennett at UVA would get $12,000,000.

Depending on the level of coach, AD hire before coach might be better. If you're going after an in-demand mid/low major head coach, they'll want to be hired by the guy they're working for. Rick Majerus didn't give a damn because he was running his own show anyways. Not sure there is a self assured guy like that out there this time.

I assume its a self preservation move by May. Chris May should be fired before Ford.

This makes zero sense. How does NIL or students transferring have anything to do with these sports? Their administration decided to blast the scapegoat du jour for their decision to drop programs that generate $0 revenue. Thats all. Why can’t they just say that?

Yeah there are a couple parts but there isn't a "top 3 guy on an at large team" guy on this roster. That includes Jimerson. I think if a guy really wants to be at SLU/graduate from SLU and wants to buy into the new coach's culture, he's worth keeping. Otherwise it is probably tear it all down and rebuild completely next year.
