Woodson being back at Indiana (lol) is good for SLU in the carousel. Thats the type of job that would move dominos all over. -

The amounts some of these guys got this year is astonishingly terrible scouting. Thats on the coaching staff for blowing donors NIL money. -

Great point. I'd also add that you can't have a team in the bottom 25 of defensive rankings in the country and live to coach another season. -
Pollard is a great ref, like it or not.
-
Another stellar performance from #TeamBlew This team doesn’t have a single winner on it. A couple talented losers, but mostly just losers.
-
they deserve it. Every single person associated with the program should be embarrassed.
-
Also there is zero coaching happening from the bench. The only interaction is Corey Tate throwing his arms up every possession. It really matches the energy the team gives too.
-
Dayton has 12 offensive rebounds. SLU has 10 total rebounds. To win: defend. rebound.
-
There’s no salvageable parts on this roster.

There isn't a P5 anymore. Its the P2 and then the Big 12, Big East, ACC. -

I'm having a hard time finding 10 better jobs outside of Big Ten, SEC, Big East, ACC, Big 12. SLU pays better than every school in the Mountain West currently. SLU pays better (by double) than every MVC job. I am doing this quick so might miss a couple. Gonzaga is an easy #1. St Mary's has a solid track record, but Bennett is making a lot less than Ford there. Memphis in the AAC might be better. Nothing else in the AAC really comes close to SLU - maybe Wichita before the one Koch brother died. In the A10, Dayton or VCU might be viewed as better jobs. No one else is close. No one in the MVC is close. That is 5? -

Mack should have always, and may have always been, candidate #1 on any list. The guy has a winning record in 9 NCAA tournament appearances. He's coached very successfully at a very similar institution. Ford should have been canned by now and Mack should have been named head coach by now if this program had any semblance of leadership. The only "negative" I can see with Mack is that he doesn't have a rebuild on his resume. He came into a successful program that had been in the Elite 8 the year prior, but under his assistant-ship. -

With boosters like that, who needs enemies! Talk about small time thinking. -

In fairness to Crean, he won 2 Big Ten championships there and went to 3 S16s. He's done better there than anyone not named Robert Knight. He still wouldn't be a good fit for what SLU needs now. -

I would think anyone between tiers 2-4 should be able to be had for 1.5-1.9 mill a year. I'd rather see that type of structure where the extra 600k-1mm goes more to the NIL side of things and gives room for a raise WITH success. -

I just feel like Schertz is being somewhat overrated this cycle. I think he is a good candidate, but he is a coach who has never experienced the NCAA tournament. Moser, Mack > Schertz. -
I had a great time during the Sean McDonald era.

Wonder what that's like. Also, like you, I am not as high on DeVries. Schertz or Wardle are my picks if its an MVC coach. I, like you, think Schertz might shoot higher but it also depends how this season finishes. He has been basically playing 6 dudes all year and now has had a couple injuries that led to road bumps. Swope is playing with a bad wheel or two that will require surgery after the season so we'll see if they can patch him up. Avila will be a big $$ free agent this offseason, but would be best suited going with Schertz because he's the kind of guy you have to build an offense around. Outside of that offense, he isn't nearly as valuable. Wardle rebuilt an absolutely toxic dumpster fire into a perennial contender in the MVC and has 2 tournament appearances as well. Bradley's status was worse than the current SLU status when he got there. -
They aren't experts in the field of college basketball coaching contract terms. They are given that information from the dude that gets paid a lot of money to be an 'expert' in that field.
-
I get what you're saying, but they have bad judgement then too. How can you like someone who squanders millions of your money?
-
Nah. This is a big boy business. FIRE HIM and shame him. He cost the school 12.5 million dollar buyout from gross incompetence of not having ANY clue on the current market conditions in his only sport that matters. Just for shoots and giggles, 12.5 million is about half the annual athletics budget. That is how bad he fuoked this all up.

Folks that want to even discuss hiring an NBA assistant for the SLU coaching position don't want SLU to be successful. Ahearn has zero relevant experience to being the head coach for a high level Division 1 basketball program. Look at Jerry Stackhouse for how "but he won the G-league blah blah blah" works out.
