  1. This is not a bad idea...We need parking...Do you want a first class program or not...You cannot have it both ways...I cannot believe some ot the things some people cry about...Nothing has been done to enhance that building for ages.
  2. Roy, I would have liked to eee SLU pick up Michael Adamson out of Freeburg Il....He can hit and is a great left handed pitcher...Hughes missed the boat...We need to scout the Cahokia Conference more...They are now the leader in Illinois state championships with Columbia just having won.
  3. I had said earlier I hope we have a stronger home schedule...Billiken Roy responded he was happy with our past schedule naming some of the top teams we played...What I meantwas I do not want to go down and see teams like Quincy, Truman State,UMSL, Western Illinois, etc...We should schedule stronger team than that even in the beginning of the season.
  4. As a long time season ticket holder and Billiken Club memberI am excited about the coaching change...I thought it could have been handled better and I feel sorry for Brad...However he had his chance so I am looking forward to program growth with greater resources placed on B-Ball and other sports...I am looking forward to changes in: Big Man recruiting Defense (No Pack Defense) Breaking the press Offense (Better ball movement) Scheduling of better teams for home games Better Media coverage (Radio, T.V., Post-Disgrace) Ticket sales Being competitive on opponent's court Sale of Billiken gear at local stores Better half-time shows Better student participation Possible 4 team tournament (Billiken Classic) Other miscl.
  5. After observing the SIU and Missouri man to man defense it appears that both coaches have their players play very close and are constantly bumping their opponent and doing a lot of grabbing...The coaches tend to evaluate what the refs will stand for during the first 4 or 5 minutes and go from there...It seems the refs get tired of making a call even though constant bumping is a foul...In the meantime the players on offense are getting frustrated and make unforced turnovers of their own...What do you think?...Should this type of defense be allowed in college ball?...In last night's game it appeared that Kansas figured out that one needs to just bully one's way past the guard with dribble penetration and then pass off or go hard to the basket.
  6. 1946-1947-1948: When Easy Ed and company won the NIT and at that time it was considered the national championship...Just about that time they first came on TV (Channel 5), only the corner tavern had a TV in Freeburg, Il.
  7. I'm an oldtimer...I have E-Mailed Levich voicing my displeasure...I have also financially supported the program...You have to be careful because without the "Oldtimers" you would now have a division 2 program.
  8. St Doninic won by 3...Very exciting game with St Dominic coming fron behind in the last minute...They are a very scrappy and well coached team.
  9. I agree we made a lot of mistakes during the game however we had our last chance to win when we had the one point lead...With the defense I suggested I think we could have won.
  10. When we had the 1 point lead with seconds to play, I would have liked to see a 2-1-2 zone with instructions to the top 2 to disallow any dribble penetration...You had to know dribble penetration was going to be the UMASS plan just as Tommie was trying to do...Two guys on the ball handler should have been our plan.
  11. I like Tommie but at times he is too careless with the ball...He needs to protect it better...That slow high bounce is dangerous when a quick defense is trying to swipe the ball.
  12. Freeburg Illinois H.S. is the "Midgets"...I played there 100 years ago.
  13. I think IV should sit out until he demonstrates he wants to play hard and smart...He was awful last night.
