  1. He is kinda hesitant on the offensive end but he has been an eraser on the defensive front. Keep it up big guy.
  2. That's the story of the game. Gametracker has Kent State with 11 points off those 13 turnovers. We're up 17-15 total rebounds but Kent is up 7-0 in 2nd chance points. I know this only one game but I love the moves of the coaching staff as he is clearly relying on the upperclassmen until the pups come along. That being said Tommie has to step it up defensively and Kevin needs to go Xavier on these guys. We controls the things we can control combined with some adjustments at the half, this is a very winnable game!
  3. God loves you jimbo. That's one of my all- time favorite scenes.
  4. South Carolina-Upstate and Maryland-Baltimore County sound like the made-up schools in Blue Chips. Not that they are a national power but: UMBC punches school's first Big Dance ticket CATONSVILLE, Md. — Confetti began falling in the final minute and the sellout crowd came to its feet and began roaring. The noise grew as Maryland-Baltimore County players celebrated on the court Saturday while running out the final seconds of a victory that earned the school its first trip to the NCAA tournament. Darryl Proctor led the way, scoring 23 points in UMBC's 82-65 victory over Hartford in the America East tournament championship game.
  5. Your not the only one. I had Memphis' free throw shooting stopping them. Now that they have made the finals I can't wait to see the matchup of CDR vs Rush. I like Rush's athleticism but I don't see him creating offense off the dribble vs CDR.
  6. Tommie's surgery is pretty minor. It's the same ankle that has been nagging him since his junior year of HS.
  7. It's funny how some kids turn out. I watched Joe play very sparingly with Tommie at Hargrave. I thought he was uncordinated and too soft to be successful as a post player. Turns out he was miscast as a post player at Hargrave. Speaking of Hargrave they have quite a few players acitve in NCAA post play this year from that 2005 team: Sam Young-Pitt Shane Clark and Bilal Benn-Villanova Joe Alexander- West Virgina Jerome Johnson-UNLV unfortunately Johnson had a career ending leg injury in 06 2008 NIT AD Vassallo-Virgina Tech Renard Fields-Cleveland St
  8. I remember the players not so much the plays but I do remember those teams being good enough to advance to the championship games of the NIT. Which leads me to believe those teams were more whole than the one we have today at SLU. I often watch other programs and muse what would Kevin and Tommie do surrounded by competent talent. Not great talent but competent talent- forwards and centers who are 6'9" or more and have the ability to run and jump. As great as Jordan was he didn't truly show he was a great winner until the emergence of the whole Bulls' team. Kind of like the chain only being as strong as its weakest link. Teams know that if you take Kevin or Tommie out of the equation they are going to win going away.
  9. It's rare to see a guy throw down an expected alley-oop. Most of the time they come by misdirection or surprise. Looking at this team I only see one player who has that ability. The problem is that player often draws a lot of attention. SLU72 was right. You gotta have the horses. The two best players on this team are tasked to be the best defender, ballhandler, scorer, rebounder, and passer. They are overworked due to depth issue. Anything that is overworked will suffer breakdowns. See GW, Kent State, BC, and now Duquesne for examples.
  10. Coaching is a lot like quarterbacking. If the team loses he takes most of the blame and when the team wins he is sainted. The truth is probably found somewhere in between. When the team was losing and not making shots people questioned how can the coaching staff be held accountable when they hadn't taking a shot or committed a turnover. Afterall this team was considered by some in the national press and by some on this board to be one of the worst assembled teams in history. They are what they are. Maybe Kevin and Tommie were not as good as we thought, despite Tommie making 2nd team All Conference last year and Kevin Lisch being named to the league's All-Defensive Team as well as Honorable Mention All-Conference. How quickly we forget. You talk about postseason looking more and more possible. Win the winnable games early in the year and postseason is a foregone conclusion. That's the negative. The positive What this coaching staff has done with Danny Brown defies words. Danny is a factor. Our wins can be tracked by the play of Danny Brown. The team stands 16-12 with an opportunity to finish 18-12 in the regular season. With two wins in the tourney they can finish with back to back 20 wins seasons. 20 wins for a team that could have imploded after scoring 20 points vs a very bad team. Kudos to the staff for keeping the guys together.
  11. I think the boys just wore down. Once Charlotte realized that getting the ball into the post meant an automatic foul, they kept at it. It was a physical game but only one team was punished for being physical.
  12. I caught the end of that game and watched that episode. The officials were very aware of what Dorsey was doing and took no corrective action. At least some kind of warning would have sufficed. The only thing one of the officials did was to come between Dorsey and Prince prior to the 2nd shot. You don't want officials deciding the outcome of games but what Dorsey was trying to do was physically intimidate Prince. That's a long way from gamesmanship
  13. They are terrrible but we have to control the things we can control. The last 7 minutes saw us turn the ball over 5 times and shoot 1/8 from the field.
  14. This is what I hate about this offense. Too many times a non-playmaker is forced to make plays. Leads to turnovers or bad shots.
  15. How is that not a foul? The guy his Lisch across the knees while he was shooting.
  16. I don't like the pace either. Love Tommie being aggressive as it puts the pressure on the officials to call fouls.
  17. This game is reminding of the game 2 years ago at Charlotte
  18. It can't hurt having a former D1 athlete as a father for sure. Tommie on the other hand never had anyone in the family who played at such a high level of athletics. Unlike the other great athletes from East Saint Louis such as Laphonso Ellis; James Harris; Vincent Jackson; Cuonzo Martin; and Chris McKinney, Tommie has never had that other star player pushing him to his competitive limits in practice. While Tommie improved his teammates play during HS it wasn't reciprocated.
