  1. Michigan hasn't offered him, yet. They might when he goes up there for an official visit. Penn State has offered him and he has planned official visits to Michigan, SLU and Penn State. I am not sure of who I would compare him to. He is athletic kid who can create his own shot. He is a leader and he can maybe a comparison is more like a Drew Hanlen minus the shot, just taller. Actually a taller much leaner Ron Waller. Or a not as strong Torres Roundtree. To name a few.
  2. Of all of the players you have ever seen you compare him to a McDonald's All American who set the national record for assists in high school? Maybe you should aim just a touch lower. The thing i find interesting is he played on the same team with Femi John, Anthony Booker and Tyler Griffey all summer and SLU is just now getting around to offering him. I think he is a good player but maybe you should find a different comparison than Ryan Robertson.
  3. Why are you hating on MC Hammer like that?
  4. The other kid from Columbia was Kreklow he is a sophomore and I think one or both of his parents coach volleyball at Mizzou.
  5. I could really see Bryant running track at the next level.
  6. Jordan is pretty good he is tough and skilled. He is tough inside the basket and has a good shot to about ten to fifteen, but he would rather mix it up. He is about 6'8" A Zumwalt South parent told me the reason one of the big reasons South beat Rockbridge is because Rockbridge stopped giving the ball to Jordan Dressler.
  7. Understanding the amount of latitude some players have within the coach's instructions.
  8. Or maybe he is finally getting a chance to show St. Louis what the national scene has known all along!
  9. In the past whenever I said someone had offers I have always mentioned the school ie Suggs has offers from Washington, Florida, Mizzou, UNC or Brandenburg has offers from SLU, Florida, Kentucky, UCLA or Hanlen has offers from Belmont, Eastern Tennessee, Valpo, SEMO, or Bryant Allen has offers from SEMO, SLU, Missouri State, Murray State or Tyler Griffey has offers from Kansas, Missouri, SLU, Illinois and Notre Dame. You see letters don't really mean much, inuendo doesn't really mean much, your personal evaluation doesn't mean much and mine certainly ain't worth a darn the only thing that matters is if a coach is willing to risk his nice salary to offer some kid a scholarship. So until you name the schools that have offered AJ or Doug Wallace they are just good high school players on teams that are doing pretty well. That is like me saying that my nine year old nephew has two scholarship offers when the truth is he only has one and I think that coach was half joking....only half. The kid is a bonafide floor general and can shoot the three he has been working on his jab step and showing his shot and his pull up jumper. Not to mention he is a hardworking shortstop and quarterback. But enough bragging about my nephew...lol. The point is who are the schools that have offered these guys? The kids from St. Louis on the MO side that have offers that have not signed are: Jesse Perry Missouri State, Courtney Belger Montana State , Bryant Allen and Tyler Griffey
  10. Last time I checked he is starting at least one player who doesn't play full out all of the time.
  11. Frazier builds MRH from ground up Blue Devils coach molds team in his image By David Kvidahl Tuesday, December 4, 2007 4:58 PM CST Rick Graefe photo/ MRH coach Corey Frazier (center) is flanked by key members of the Blue Devils squad. Bryant Allen can't help but smile. The sweet shooting lefty for the Maplewood-Richmond Heights boys basketball team didn't run the last drill in practice properly and is getting verbally undressed by his coach, Corey Frazier. "You'll never go Division I," Frazier tells the kid who's been receiving love letters from college coaches since the end of his freshman season.Allen runs the play again and, again, manages to not impress his coach. "What did I just tell you, son?" Frazier yells. "Run it again!" It goes like this, on and off, throughout the night's practice. Frazier instructing his team on what he wants and, when he doesn't get it the way he wants it, stopping practice and instructing them again, only each time his voice keeps rising. It's amazing the man can talk after a less than stellar night with his team. "He's got a lot of fire," MRH athletic director Bob Hebrank said. "He doesn't know how to go halfway." It's that quality that has helped Frazier guide the MRH boys basketball team to prominence. Frazier enters his seventh year with the program and posted a coaching record of 91-62. In the past four seasons, he's led the Blue Devils to two South Central Athletic Association titles, two 20-win seasons and a district title game. To make things even harder, he managed to do all of that while not playing a home game during a two-year stretch while the MRH gymnasium received a face-lift. For his next trick, Frazier wants to do as a coach what he did as a player while at Charleston - win the state championship. This season is the first under Frazier the Blue Devils are true contenders for a trip to Columbia. In order to reach that lofty goal (especially for a team that didn't win its conference or district last winter), MRH will have to play the way its coach did. "He was a very good team player and very unselfish," Frazier's college skipper and former Saint Louis University men's basketball coach Charlie Spoonhour said. "He'd been a really big scorer in high school (at Charleston), but he was an even better defensive player (at SLU)." If you've watched the Blue Devils play, you know their focus is defense. In previous seasons, MRH hasn't had dominant height, often trotting out a lineup with nary a player over 6 feet tall. Their success comes from their man-to-man, high intensity ball pressure. MRH gets in your face and makes you uncomfortable, which, in turn, forces you to do things you might not want to do. That's how Frazier got down on the defensive end. "This is the first team we've had that we can do what we used to do at Charleston," Frazier says of his current crop. In the past, the Blue Devils have picked up their man in the half court and unleashed their wicked style of defense. Now, Frazier wants his boys doing the dirty work all the way up the floor. Find your man, get down and stick to him like your life depends on it. To play this way, your team has to be in shape and the Blue Devils are getting there. The MRH football team just completed the best postseason run in school history and several members of the basketball team were involved, including three of Frazier's starting five. It's going to take some time to get their basketball legs back, but that's not stopping Frazier from trying to jump start the process. When you screw up bad enough at practice, you run. Miss a lay-up? Run. Miss a free throw? Run. Don't hustle from drill to drill? Run. Act like a freshman (even if you are a freshman)? You run double. Frazier suffers no fools when it's his time on the court. To a man, he expects his players to work as hard as he did and to execute properly. "Corey was one of the guys you didn't have to get on for anything," Spoonhour said. "He accepted responsibility. I think guys look for excuses, but that was never him. He played every play, he didn't take plays off." Sometimes that expectation and his fire get the better of him. Frazier is often animated on the sidelines, imploring his team to keep up the intensity. When something doesn't go the way he wants or when someone doesn't do what he wants, he's not shy about letting them know about it in no uncertain terms. Frazier's fire is balanced by his assistant coach and "road dog" John Redden. Redden, a Marquette High and fellow SLU graduate, is the soothing ying to Frazier's blistering yang. The two have been together since their playing days overlapped at SLU and joined forces in the coaching ranks seven years ago. If Frazier's modus operandi is to be as loud as possible to be heard, Redden offers a calm voice and an understanding that you're not always going to be perfect and that it's all right. "John's part of the reason Corey's been successful," Hebrank said. Even when he's off the chart mad and the veins are popping out of his neck, the players know Frazier will always be there for them. He was at every football game. He helps them with life on and off the basketball court. He's shown them that basketball is part of life, but it's not the only part. To get down on the court, you have to get down in the classroom. "They look up to him like a big brother," Hebrank said. "It's a school district where we have to show the kids how much we care about them." Which is why Bryant Allen can't help but smile, even while Frazier screams his head off.
  12. The good news is there is talent on the way to make this team deep again. We pulled in a top ten ranking for Mid Majors in the early signing period and I doubt we are finished recruiting. Mid Major Recruiting http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/con....asp?CID=745155 Mid-major rank 1. Nevada 2. Southern Illinois 3. Xavier 4. Gonzaga 5. New Mexico 6. Memphis 7. Utah 8. Pepperdine 9. 13. I have been laying low for awhile and just reading the things you guys have had to say lately. I am not going to get into the whole thing about you go back and forth between praising Scott, John, and Bryant and then ripping them. Or how you find it hard to believe that Brett Thompson would not excel in Southern Illinois' system but could develop into a player at SLU. And I am definitely not going to address that goofball that said Brett could play the three, that was just ridiculous. But it seems like no matter the topic or the player the discussion comes back to one thing...Mizzou. I will confess, I love the Tigers I have been a Tiger fan since I was a little tyke and I used to take my Tiger "Rootin Rag" everywhere I go. SLU tried splitting up my loyalty with the Clagget and Highmark years and so on, but I have always been a Tiger fan. Now that I am into coaching and I am friends with a lot of ex SLU players and I even coach with three of them, I have a certain affinity for SLU, but I say all of that to ask one question...... Why does it seem like the Billiken fan's self worth is determined by whether or not you beat Mizzou? Who cares if the Tigers want to do a two for one do it and shut them up, but the crux of the matter should come down to who really freaking cares if the Bills play the Tigers. The Bills want the game but don't want to do whatever it takes to get the game so who really cares. If you feel you are more valuable than a two for one then don't sell yourself short. Be the Bills and who cares about the other programs in the state. But I wouldn't mind a couple of answers to my question about why is it so important to play the Tigers?
  14. Is this about the big fella from DeSmet verballing to the Big Ten?
  15. Phil Kunz plays for the St. Louis Eagles 15 year old team. He is a nice player, very skilled and has nice mid range touch. He will be a player to keep your eye on. With him and Rakers Wesclin will have a nice frontline next season.
  16. word on the street was that some 6-9 kid from colorado, outside of denver, was supposed to be on campus. he might be the guy as well. don't know the name, but maybe the billiken board detectives can get on the case. bad boyz for life
  17. Sunday May 20 7th Grade Games 3:30 and 4:45 8th Grade Games 6:00 and 7:15 Come watch and enjoy the future of St. Louis Prep basketball while helping to support a worthy cause. Jonathan (J-Rock) Jones was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called Epithelioid Sarcoma. It is a fast spreading cancer that was discovered when doctors removed a cyst from his arm. By the time the cancer was diagnosed it had spread throughout his body. To honor J-Rock and his passion for basketball this Classic has been re-named in his memory. With all proceeds going to the J-Rock Jones Foundation. For additional donations contact: Darin Henkleman at 636-300-9585 This will be a great time to watch some super players play and if we are lucky there will even be a few future Billikens on the floor (two of which should have offers now). Coach Majerus is scheduled to make an appearance around 6:00. The Classic will take place at Whitfield School (175 South Mason Road) at the intersection of Ladue and Mason.
  18. The head coach from Kentucky and one of the top assistants from UCLA came to see Brandenburgh at DeSmet the week after he played in a tournament in Houston. You can say what you want about what he did playing the high post and wing at DeSmet but when he got to play his natural position in the summer. He has big time guys coming after him.
  19. Just so you guys no neither Scott nor John have a final list. They were both asked to name the schools that are recruiting them. Well the reporter is not going to list fifteen plus schools for both kids, so the reporter just reports what they deem as important. Both kids are still wide open as are all of the kids in the area, actually. Have A Nice Day Ephesians 3:20-21
  20. Milwaukee Billiken The St. Louis Eagles are in Milwaukee this weekend playing in a tournament. For our schedule and more information go to www.ny2lasports.com All three of the teams are playing.
  21. I have always said the facilities shouldn't make a difference as far as recruiting goes, but today I saw something amazing. I went to Mizzou for the Charleston game and I called up Coach Anderson and I met with him and he showed me around. That place is freaking awesome. I don't know how a kid can take the tour, listen to Coach's enthusiasm and vision, and not verbal right there on the spot. The main gym, the practice gym, the locker rooms, the players lounge, the training rooms, everything just amazing. So now I understand facilites make a huge difference, especially if you don't have a coach with a big personality. So I say all of that to say I was wrong, facilities do make a difference. I have heard the Billikens staff say that the new arena is going to be among the best in the midwest and I cannot wait to see the arena in detail.
  22. First of all none of the assitant coach's were at the game unless you want to count Earl Austin Jr. Matt told me he wanted to come to SLU. That was were he wanted to go and it was made known to Brad, I told him. Brad said he needed to watch him some more. Eventually other schools came on the scene Southern Illinois and Stanford. The last school to offer him was SLU, by then other schools had offered him and wanted him the SLU luster was gone. Just like Torres Roundtree wanting to come to SLU and I mean bad, but for some reason the Bills needed to evaluate him. As a matter of fact someone close to Jesse Perry said that he didn't think SLU wanted Jesse all that much that they just offered him in hopes of landing other talent. SLU has a problem of making kids feel wanted and not that they are someone the Bills are just settling for.
  23. They are St. Louis Eagles players. They wanted to play for SLU.
  24. If you must know Brad went home.
  25. No he wasn't because they had already lost and were home long before tip off. I saw Earl Austin at the game.
