  1. "Calling him the worst recruiter in the top 100 programs is >really hard to say. > >I think it is fair to say he is the worst recruiter in the >A-10." That doesn't even make sense. Not all of the programs in the A-10 are top 100 programs. Are you suggesting the seven schools that finished behind us are recruiting better? As far as the rest of your analysis goes, it's nothing but self serving supposition. We understand you don't like Brad. Your feeble attempts at rationalizing hurt your case.
  2. >IV, Lisch and Liddell should have thrown their jerseys on >Soderberg's desk and told them they wanted Wendell to start >in their place.... Huh?
  3. At this point, Bernie is probably a lost cause. Maybe we would be better off trying to convince everyone else in the media. On the other hand, he's such a two faced prong, a couple of dinners might do the trick.
  4. Looks like Kevin and Luke will be getting new numbers. Ha.
  5. Skip, I wondered the same thing about the last few minutes of that game. The only thing I can say is that is the way it is in College hoops a good deal of the time. It really bothers me when I feel we don't get close calls at home down the stretch. I would have had no problem with either Tommie or Kevin with the ball in that situation. Generally, the risk of turnover is reduced by keeping the ball in the hands of a single player. It was just one of those things. Every program experiences heartbreaking losses. It's to be expected when one signs on as a fan. Hopefully, the kids will grow from the experience and it will serve them well in Atlantic City. I'm still hoping for brighter days.
  6. You could have talked all day and not said that. Thanks for the info.
  7. "Call me a romantic (or just a loser), but one reason that I >have grown to love SLU basketball as much as I do is because >I am part of something much bigger than just I. I am part of >a tradition that is more than just this season's record. >It's a tradition of Larry Hughes, Anthony Bonner, Spoonball, >and the SLU Pep Band. Students need to get an education >about where we come from as soon as they step foot on this >campus so they know WHY they need to be proud and WHY they >need to go to the games and support...even win we don't win." Certainly not a loser, Prez. Just someone that has things figured out beyond your years. Good post and observations, imo.
  8. It's too soon to tell if DM is a "nice recruit". Are you suggesting otherwise?
  9. " I am sure Brad is adding to the >problem the team is having - he did it during the 9-21 >season. Unfortunately we may have a pattern here. " Really? Or are you guessing...hoping?
  10. That prediction was self obvious. Are you telling me you didn't see that coming? It was the only sensible thing for the kid to do under the circumstances. Besides, the original post was that Ian wouldn't start Saturday. What followed was wild surmise regardless Brad's relationship with his players by subsequent posters over a STILL unsubstantiated rumor.
  11. Actually, I think that all it takes is for someone to post an utterly unsubstantiated rumor for half the board to start gathering up their torches and pitchforks in yet another "let's fire the coach" witch hunt. Allow me to point out that this poster has no track record and unless he's a team member, could not possibly understand the dynamics of Brad's relationship with his players, regardless of what he may or may not have seen, heard, thought, etc. You guys would have made great extras in Salem.
  12. An absolutely amazing leap in logic. From an unsubstantiated rumor to surmise that players are treated disparately? Perhaps you could shed some light on how Brad's childhood affects his coaching?
  13. "Being in 1st place in the A-10 is like being the tallest >midget amongst a colony of midgets. Its not that big of an >accomplishment..." Nonsense. I understand exaggeration for purposes of making a point, but you demean your position by saying silly things. It's all relative. You wouldn't care to be in first in the A-10?
  14. Like Billikan and VTIME, I buy season tickets because I love college basketball and I enjoy watching the stories unfold year after year, even through bad times. I also love Saint Louis University and I'm grateful for the opportunities my education has afforded me. I support the program to the level I am financially capable and would certainly love to see the team more successful. However, for the above stated reasons I'll continue to purchase season tickets. To me, the pleasure outweighs the disappointments. That's a question each must answer for themselves. I certainly wouldn't advocate anyone buying season tickets if it causes them distress when things go badly. It's always risky to invest emotionally in an athletic team, particularly one comprised of kids.
  15. I'm sad to say, it doesn't look much better in person.
  16. It's starting to look that way. Still, while there's life....
  17. I would be good if he realized the team's success hinges on him instead of waiting for the younger kids to pick up the slack.
  18. It's a little too early to tell on DM and AK, don't you think? They are freshman, for Pete's sake. Anyone professing to agree with Metz 100% should seek professional help, ASAP.
  19. Apparently, the glass is always half empty.
  20. If it happens that Femi commits, the naysayers would be confronted with Brad not screwing up and so it's wise to get their positions on record so they can complain later that we got the inferior recruit. This in spite of the fact that these kids haven't committed to anything yet, haven't played their last high school games and it's way too early to project how they will turn out in college anyway. It pays to position oneself early in case things turn out well.
  21. "If IV pulls his head out of his ass and dominates like he >should..." Nothing in his recent play leads me to believe that is going to happen.
  22. I think you better stay, Roy. It's not about you.
  23. I agree with your assertion regarding a new coach. I just don't think it can be quantified. BTW, don't feel obliged to keep it simple on my account.
