  1. Roy, how many tickets you estimate that is? 1250? If they are doing this, they are looking for more than that, aren't they? Now their expectations and reality may not be in synch....
  2. Roy, why do you think so few? lack of interest?
  3. I thought Mizzou had/has a deal with Shelter, and even if SF is in the mix there, SF supports a lot of college atheletics which I am a fan of them doing, like the MVC tourney. I am not a policyholder of theirs, but if they write SLU a big check, I certainly will shop their price. That outta send you into orbit, but that was not the intention and I didn't realize you were in the ins industry. Oh, and it is not like you would be writing a check to them for tickets.....you would be the beneficiary of, as Henry Blake would say, their maganomous generous generosity.
  4. Tee, hope the golf was good. Any chance of expanding on your previous post here?
  5. Vtime, I am a casual follower of the V, but try to see them every chance I get, usually if no where else, UMSL in the state quarters. Where were the V fans in supporting DPolk last year? The kid started all but 1 game last year and I sure didn't see a change in the fan base at SLU games. Perhaps it is just 'Vtime', watch them play at Vashon but not when they play with another jersey in college. And I'll give you a potential out, SLU sucked last year from a record standpoint (as well as other aspects) and perhaps does not play a brand of basketball easy for some to watch.
  6. are we in a position to turn down let's say $5mil from anyone/thing/body that is a legitimate entity that doesn't stray from the Jesuit mission, at least too much?????
  7. I hear there is a move a foot with an insurance company based in central Ill that has something to do with being a good citizen in a local area. Don't know to what degree they are interested in us, but we are real interested in them, I hear.
  8. one thing that kills me about how our bigs play defense is that if they are matched up against someone that can dribble and drive and that person gets the ball 12 feet from the goal we go racing out there and they put the ball on the floor and drive around us resulting in either a lay up, a lay up and a foul, 2 free throws or at least a foul when we grab them as they go by, yes I am advocating having the opponent prove they can make the 12 footer before I send someone racing out there. the good thing is there aren't a lot of those dribble drive bigs out there but this scenario plays out almost every time
  9. neither as they don't even pale in comparison to Carson
  10. I am a Pepsi person, but if they pony up something for the arena, I can drink Coke when there(actually, more of a Miller Lite person). Any vendor that wants its product sold in that place will have to give something, it is just the way it works. Look at the signs outside the Ed. The unexpected part is them putting something like this on radio. That is way cool.
  11. Cheryl has said that she expects success from every program, we no longer have the Jilliken, can Bob be close behind?
  12. Steve, I lived in the UK a while back, was a great adventure. In London, my favorite eating place is called Efes, is on Great Titchfield not far from Oxford Circus, is a ka-bob house, great food and fairly reasonable. I would avoid Wales, all that is there are sheep. I am not a big literature/arts kind of person, but Stratford-on-Avon is neat and not too far from London. Wimbledon will be taking place while you are there, a grounds pass is probably around $25, can't get to Centre Court or Court 1, but that is a cool place. Good luck, enjoy the adventure, enjoy the beer (lager or bitters) and bring your walking shoes!!!!
  13. this part of the system about playing only 5 guards, I don't understand it -maybe his classification of a guard and a wing are distinctly different -so there is no way under this system you could have 6 stud guards (realize improbable if not impossible but you are limiting yourself with this 5 guard aspect) -if you are playing an up tempo game, and he said he wants to when he gets those type of players, do you risk getting tired only playing 5, esp in a tournament situation (isn't that the ultimate goal?) -where did this # come from, what analysis?? -huge IF here, if our current and projected roster doesn't change (not likely) we will have 2 years where someone sits (DP,LM,DB,TL,KL,DM) unless again he classifies wings and guards differently and then you have no one your roster that is playing to take the place of the 3 leaving seniors (incidently, I see more things alike between guards and wings than differences except a true point guard) -can he only establish trust with 5 guards, or maybe historically he has someone please educate me
  14. If this is the case.... I hope the $$$ is GREAT for her and she is not being lowballed and forced out. The last day there will be sad one, but I would envision a massive affair. One more link lost between the generations of SLU students....
  15. Remember the whole BM -I'm going to print in my bits every week how long it has been since SLU announced it was building an arena until a shovel hits the dirt thing... well, I think this is two weeks in a row where there has been no mention, I would love to know the reason he has stopped his campaign against us, can't be for lack of space hopefully its b/c money is pouring in and we are close (I can dream)
  16. I am just interested..... how can Leon Powell say I may have some offers? how can LP say some schools were in to talk to my hs coach but I don't know which ones? I am Vashon supporter, and have posted such before. Does anyone know what sort of access Floyd gives to schools recruiting his kids? Perhaps b/c LP is going into his jr year things are being run they way they are to protect the kid (and if so Floyd knows his kids better than any of us and has been thru this so has a good idea what someone should be exposed to at what time..perhaps a model others should adopt) I am just curious.
  17. thanks, I guess my concern comes from what has happened to his skills from not playing for a year and how quickly they would come back.
  18. Roy, please take this as a question and that is how it is intended, just trying to learn and these are the wonders in my slight mind...if you have some answers...please do you have mentioned Leonard several times here lately, including today where you wish he was the first recruit to commit to SLU. he did not play hs bball last year did he? is playing AAU this year? is he in school right now making progress to graduation? does he project to academic eligibility? what season would be his frosh in college? is he a diamond in the rough type that since he did not play last yr he will fall off the radar at other schools and SLU will get him? he was a top 30 soph nationally ranked, wasn't he? height and weight? is SLU still on him? is he on SLU? who else is on him? sorry for the long list but I am very curious
  19. any idea why in Columbia and not STL? has this been played at Fontbonne in the past?
  20. I think you may have missed my point. No where did I defend Charter or any entity. I simply asked that fans look at the alternatives to Charter, which at least in my mind for last season and right now, is no tv. Would we all love to Duke or Kentucky where virtually every game is televised on a network? Absolutely. Are we there right now? Absolutely not.
  21. B-Roy, on what are you basing your assessment of Kramer Soderberg?
  22. Wow, have you ever had the opportunity to negotiate anything? Two of the keys to winning in negotiating - you must be willing to walk away and you are always better served by being in a position of strength. I do not know any details of the deal between SLU and Charter, but wouldn't one think Charter is the one that may want to get out of the deal?? We just had a season where we lost 21 games. If we do not have games on Charter, what is the option?? No games on TV?? I do not have Charter and so must find a location to watch those road games, so that is a pain to me, but at least I can find them on tv. Charter also must give some $$$ as they have their logo on the court, so while we are trying to raise money for an arena, let's piss off a current Billiken supporter of some size (I say some size as no other compnay has their logo on our court). To conclude, be careful what you wish for (no Charter, no tv)
  23. has Tyler qualified? I have heard he has not.
  24. Roy, Vashon participates in the Public High League, where are the "vast majority of your scheduled games" supposed to come from if you are in a league or conference?? who in the area outside of the PHL will schedule Vashon?? ESL and Ritter come to mind and NO ONE else, so where is Vashon supposed to get non conference games?? the answer is they go out of town which has two benefits in my mind - gets them a game (which they can't get around here) and gives the kids a chance to see something outside of the region (and I'll throw in an observation from afar here) which they maybe wouldn't otherwise have the chance to see From my experiences watching Vashon, this team was the least physical I have seen and yet probably the best collection of Vashon bodies I have seen. Floyd has his faults, no doubt.
  25. any word on Tyler qualifying to play at UNC? I have heard differing speculations....
