  1. Looking further down the threads, I found that Steve is conducting a poll on this very item. Guess he's the one that has to set it for the board.
  2. How hard would it be to get the approval? Blue Crew should be able to manage that part thru their contacts within the AD's office.
  3. Why couldn't the Blue Crew, with the financial help and resources of Billikens.com members, put together a "Meet the players" Bar-B-Que on a weekend before the season starts? We could hold it over at Tower Grove park, using one of their pavillions.
  4. Roy, I've been playing alittle with the board and the problem of going to the last post of the thread is occuring with I click on the thread title on the "home" page even when I'm logged in. When I get to the message board and click on the thread title it is now taking me to the first post if I'm logged in. If not logged in, it's taking me to the last post of the thread. BB593
  5. Steve, When I open a thread, it always goes to the last post. How do I change my settings, so that it goes to the first post? Thanks BB593
  6. Levick Hired as Maryland's Chief of Staff Former Saint Louis AD to begin her new post on August 13 June 26, 2007 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Cheryl Levick, one of the top collegiate administrators in the country, has been hired as the Terrapins' new chief of staff, University of Maryland director of athletics Deborah A. Yow announced Tuesday. Levick has over 20 years experience in collegiate athletics, including the last seven running two Division I programs. She comes to College Park from Saint Louis University where she has served the last three years as director of athletics. Prior to her stint with the Billikens, Levick had a four-year run as the director of athletics of Santa Clara University. "Cheryl Levick is widely acknowledged as one of the best collegiate athletics administrators in the country," Yow said. "Her passion for the athletics enterprise and expectations for excellence are traits that will serve Maryland athletics well in the coming years. We are delighted that she will be joining us in the leadership role of chief of staff." Levick, who begins her post at Maryland on August 13, led Saint Louis through its transition from Conference USA into the Atlantic 10, as well as spearheading the fund-raising effort for the new on-campus Chaifetz Arena and the design of the adjacent practice facilities. In addition, she served on the 2005 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four executive committee and partnered with the St. Louis Sports Commission to serve as host for the 2006 NCAA Men's Soccer College Cup. Levick received the 2005-06 General Sports TURF Systems Athletic Director of the Year Award for the NCAA D-I Central Region. She also received the 2006 Carl O. Bauer award, presented by the Missouri Athletic Club, as the top amateur sports figure in the St. Louis area. "I am excited about joining the staff at the University of Maryland, working with Debbie Yow and being on a Division I-A campus again," Levick said. "This new position is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the top collegiate athletics programs in America, led by one of the elite administrators in our profession." Levick was the first female director of athletics in the history of Santa Clara athletics, as well as in the West Coast Conference. She oversaw a major renovation of the 5,000-seat basketball arena, broke ground on a 1,500-seat baseball stadium and received a $42.75 million commitment from the university's capital campaign. Prior to Santa Clara she spent 12 years (1988-2000) at Stanford as the senior associate athletics director and senior woman administrator. She served as the department's chief operating officer, overseeing internal operations for 33 varsity sports. During Levick's time at Stanford, the Cardinal won 44 national championships.
  7. I believe Scott has already said he won't make a decision till August. Give him some space and let him work thru the process. He'll probably visit all the schools on his list, so don't panic. We're still in the running.... Box - Pull up your photoshop and show me what Mr Suggs will look like in Billiken Blue!!!!
  8. That's what I was thinking. Let them spend a year in the weight room and working on their fundamentals.
  9. Scout.com was bought up by Rupert Murdoch and Fox back in 2005. It was one of three internet sites that he bought up around that time. He paid about $750 million for the 3 sites, which also include MySpace and a gaming company (the name of I can't think of off the top of my head). IIRC, he paid in the neighborhood of $60 million for Scout.
  10. Nate - Do you think he would be a candidate to redshirt his first year?
  11. I bet he was the first one on Rick's calling list yesterday.
  12. If I was Femi, I would pick up the phone by Sunday and say "I'm coming to SLU".
  13. Looks like they've broken the seating down as follows: Note: No # of seats per section were given. The Band and the student seating will be at the west end of the floor (visitor bench on the south side of the west end). Loyal Blue Table - 2 seats minimum - $450/seat plus $3,500 arena fee per seat. Total $7,900 per year. Seating on the north side of the floor - opposite team benches. Loyal Blue CLub - 2 seats minimum - $450/seat, plus $2,500 arena fee per seat. Total $5,000 per year. Seating on both sides of the court for a few rows (10 rows?) from free throw line to free throw line. Billiken Gold Seating - 2 seats minimum - $450/seat, plus $400 arena fee per seat. Total $1,700 per year. Seating on both sides of the court behind Loyal Blue Club seating section going about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up to the suites. Also rows (10row?) from the free throw line to the base lines on both sides of the court. Billiken Red Seating - No seat minimum - $450/seat, plus $150 arena fee per seat. Total $1,200 per year. Seating looks to be directly behind the Billiken Gold seating area up to the suite level. And 1 section on each side of the Billiken Gold Seating areas on both sides of the floor. General Reserved (Tier A) - No seat minimum - $450/seat, no arena fee per seat. Bulk of the seating is at the East end of the arena, about half way up (followed by Tier . Plus seating in the corners next to the Billken Red seats. No Tier A seats available at the west end behind the student/band sections. General Reserved (Tier - No seat minimum - $450/seat, no arena fee per seat. Behind the student/band section on the west end and behind Tier A seats on the east end. As said earlier, a $50 deposit per seat is required when paying this years season tickets. The deposit will be applied to the cost of your seats for the 2008-09 season. This years payment is due by July 27, 2007. All seats in the new arena will be selected by donors/season ticket holders in the summer of 2008 according to their individual ranking in the Billiken Club Priority Points system as of April 4, 2008. Their are a couple of other restrictions placed on the maximum amount of tickets a individual can purchase and for group seating. As I read thru the information, the arena fee will be credited as an add-on to what you give to the Billiken club. In other words, you still have to make your annual contribution to the BC, plus pay the arena fee. Also, Please Note - NO SINGLE TICKETS WILL BE SOLD IN THE LOYAL BLUE TABLE, LOYAL BLUE CLUB OR THE BILLIKEN GOLD SEATING AREAS. EFFORTS WILL BE MADE TO ACCOMODATE ALL OTHER ODD-NUMBERED TICKET REQUESTS THROUGHOUT THE ARENA. Hope this helps.
  14. It wouldn't be Friday without some USC action
  15. Based on my past experience with the construction industry, I would have to agree with you that the increased price is due to SLU requested design changes. However, on most major projects of this nature, the Owner will have a contingency amount set aside to cover changes. Even though the announced budget amount could be $80, they'll have another 10-20 mil set aside to cover any design changes.
  16. Dave - check Courtside's subject line and then you'll understand the *
  17. Good. Hope that you are able to generate coverage of all the sports on campus. Hopefully, one day you'll be able to do a SLU Sports mag.
  18. Congrats Nate - Hopefully the basketball side at Scout works better than the baseball side (behind the scenes). Will you be covering other sports, besides mens basketball, ie women's basketball, soccer on the your site? BB593 PS - the subscription's at Scout cover the entire site. Beware that if you bought just for the info at 1 site and that site folds, your out of luck getting your money back. Secondly, if you want the premuim message board for the Billiken Report, you MUST start your subscription at that site. For example, if you had bought your subscription thru the Cardinal site, you wouldn't be able to access the premium message board for the Billiken Report site or any other board. Just a heads up from experience with that site
  19. I also have to agree with V-Time. Between Soderberg not playing 1 yr players, coupled with an offense that I don't think was geared to a Maguire-type player, I think Dustin's better days are ahead of him. Majerus gears his offense to what his players are capable of doing, not relying on players to fit into a particular system. From what I saw last year at the shoot arounds, Dustin is an above average, square up shooting guard. Majerus will utilize that feature for Dustin, instead of forcing Dustin into trying to create off the dribble, as Soderberg wanted from him.
  20. Sounds like a great way to close out your final day(s) at SLU. FYI - he's added Thorpe (Soderberg Asst) to his coaching staff. Haven't seen an announcement on other additions yet. And from what I've heard Rachel Diener has been acting as the big guy's admin. asst. It wouldn't surprise me if she's added permanently to his staff in some way. PS- How was Yogi?
  21. There could be extra incentive for Billiken fans to attend the 2007 Shoot-Out at Scottrade Center this fall. Per Tom Timmerman and his Post-Dispatch blog, the organizers are trying to lineup a game between future Billiken Brett Thompson and Vienna, IL and potential Billiken recruit Scott Suggs and Washington, MO. Now if they can get Desmet against Lafayette, Bradenburg vs Griffey, this Shoot-Out could be the must see day of basketball in St Louis in a long, long time.
  22. The hiring of Rick Majerus got me all fired up about the future of Billiken basketball. So much, that in addition to being a season ticket holder, I decided to join the Billiken Club. So on the day after (4/28)Majerus was announced as being the new head coach, I sent in my application. My problem - Seeing that my credit card had not received a hit on it for my contribution, this past Monday I emailed them to see if they had received it. As of this morning no response. Can someone who's in the BC give me a name and number to call?
  23. "the fact the whole athletic dept is so short staffed" Easily correctable and you don't have to increase the budget to do it. They don't need to increase the budget in this area to get better results. Think outside the box. Hire interns to do alot of the legwork that needs to be done. Just make sure you have someone who is compenent to manage them. I'm very familiar with this concept from following minor league baseball for years. Every minor league team operates under the same concept. It would be very easy to adapt this type of approach to SLU. Barter, Barter and once you've done that - Barter some More.
