  1. I started attending SLU games when 9 years old.
  2. Dennis Richard;; St. James, CBC, St. Louis U(class of 70 - BSEE), UMSL (MIS) Avid supporter of Dogtown, avid supporter of SLU basketball since 1948. Went to my first games in Drummond's station wagon. The great years of Ed Hickey. Seat in section 102 - V - 4 with ny brother Tom and his wife.
  3. This is typical PD BS and has been going on since 1948 when I started following the Bills. Maybe the first 4 - 5 years of Hickey's regime SLU rec good press but not since.
  4. I also attended the game and was impressed with Marc Washington. He plays bigger than his 6' 4". McCluer had a chance but that over and back call was a killer. At that time I thought McCluer had V a little panicky. Also saw the PB v WG game. The key to a PB - V game will be PB guard play. If PB guards can keep TO down against V zone press then we will have a great MO state champioship game.
  5. Brad had the same problem last year in playing Ross Varner.
  6. DC and JJ may transfer to a program that more takes advantage of their skills.
  7. Good luck on your Adv. Math finals. Rec my BSEE from SLU, a long time ago, still remember my Adv. Math finals as pure terror.
  8. I notice plenty of folks on this message board grown up in dogtown, as I. Bob Corbett has a website dedicated to dogtown and it's history. http://www.webster.edu/~corbetre/dogtown/dogtown.html He has just about every class that graduated from St. James.
  9. Thank you for making my point far better than I did. For the record. I think Brad is the right coach for this team and hopefully for teams in the future. Once in a while I just try to point out what I believe are some incorrect decisions. Like taking RB out of the SMS game because of BS first half 2 foul rule. This inflexiblity probably cost us the game.
  10. I'm sorry, I missed were Brad has been sainted. I still think my main point is valid.
  11. I agree completely. Watching RV play is painful. In the second half of the USM game, twice he got beat bad trying to guard out at the 3 pt line. Also, Brad's sub rotation is inherently destructive. We will suffer in the conf tourny with only a 7 person rotation. If we have to play 3 games in 3 nights those guys will be exhausted.
  12. Cancellation is the only recourse, because this is a situation that has been going on for 50 years. The Sat. writeup on the games was almost as bad. MU had 7" writeup with a picture, IL had 8" writeup with a picture and SLU had 5" writeup with no picture. It' inexcusable for a ST. LOUIS paper not give preference to the local ST. LOUIS D1 team.
  13. Amen, Amen, Amen. I love your attitude.
  14. tseugnekillib, I appreciate your dilemma matrix. But the biggest responsiblity a coach has is to give his team a chance to win. That is putting players on the floor who can compete. In regards to JJ, having coached for 15 years not all players are practice players. Some are motivated in different ways. JJ may not play that hard in practice but watching him during the games he seems to hustle and play hard while on the court. This is all Brad should ask of a player is to give 100% on the court.
  15. I agree completely. The way some people on this board blows sunshine all over the place. It's asinine. Face reality. The way Brad keeps playing Varner. We need somebody who can make a positve contribution at that position. If this season is going to be salvaged, Brad needs to put a team on the court who can win. Benching RB because of his two foul rule hurt us bad tonight.
  16. Does anyone know the status of Darren Clarke. He played for about 30 sec in the first half and then was suddenly yanked. I don't remember him on the bench in the second half. Was he hurt or is there a discipline problem?
  17. To say Drejaj is in a slump is putting it kindly. He is being outmatched. Today he and Sloan were clueless out there. Brad has to find the players who are going to win games for him.
  18. A great analysis of the SLU game. Varner's TO at the 15 min mark of the second half was a killer. What he was doing at the top of the circle acting like a PG was a mystery. He also had one at the 11 min mark but for some reason it wasn't included in the TO stats. HOw quick Brad works JJ into the rotation and gives RV more pine time will determine the success of this year.
  19. I agree with your assessment and would like to add a few of my own. - Reggie B needs to understand what the "motion offense" is about and play it. - I don't think we can count on IO this year. - The same for RV. Brad needs to put JJ in and let him him play, mistakes and all. By Jan. - Feb. we will have a nice inside player. - We will need to win a lot of games this year with the defense.
  20. I agree completely. I attended the game and Binghamton has 8 in the penalty area for most of the game. Only tried counterattacks, never attempted to generate an offense thrust. AS for attendance, I guess the place was 80% full.
  21. I have attended a couple of practices and one of the few surprises is the play of PH. In practice sessions PH is one of the few players who seem to understand BS system and how to run the offense. He runs the offense very aggressive and gets on players who are out of position. If it wasn't for his size he would be a perfect PG.
  22. I agree, compared with some of the games of Randy Albrect, Ron Coleman and even Buddy Brehmer eras this was not a terrible game. However, I have hopes that this is a year this program steps it up a notch. Not by losing another opening game. These early "gimme" games you have to win to build a good record for NCAA consideration. I think last years losses to Tenn-Martin and SMS cost us a bid.
  23. Thanks for your advice. The whole point is the attendance was closer to 5000 than 79xx. I have attended SLU games for 55 years now and enjoyed good and bad games. Or at least enjoyed the good games. If SLU wins Monday by 25 points or greater, then I'll feel we are closer to Marquette's level than the EK game showed.
  24. Terrible attendance:: The only way they had 7958 last night is if everyone was counted twice. Terrible game:: If this is the best we can do against a mid - mid major it will be a long season. Last night Marquette beat Savannah ST my 38 points. Monday will tell us a lot about our Bills.
