  1. i looked up his stats. 16 points, nine rebounds leads the team in steals and field goal percentage on an 8-3 juco team. yeah, a definite candidate for the 12th man. bad boyz for life
  2. word on the street is that slu is recruiting a juco forward from three rivers who is a lithuanian. he supposed to be one of their top players this year. bad boyz for life
  3. I agree with you. I think Mo smith is also better than dustin. He can do more things besides shoot. If we had him, I would probably redshirt him and put some extra muscle on him and it would pay dividends down the road. bad boyz for life
  4. It was a tough loss on Saturday, but may I please remind everyone that in the last 72 games that Southern Illinois has played at home, they have lost a grand total of THREE!!!! Our last four games, we went through a gauntlet of T A&M, Hous, Loy and SIU and three of those games on the road. We're 5-2 and we've only played two games in our own building. our two losses have come to a Top 10 team on their own court and a five-time league champion that has won 69 of their last 72 home games. Plus, don't discount how big the loyola road win was. If we lose to someone like western illinois at home, then that's when you'll see me start bristing. Let's relax people. bad boyz for life
  5. Yanique is from St. Joseph's, Mo. so she's back home bad boyz for life
  6. Not to dampen everyone's joy, but loyola was missing two key starters tonight. Alfredrick Hughes and Jerry Harkness did not suit up tonight for the ramblers. We just got lucky tonight. bad boyz for life
  7. I've heard earl talk about it on the radio. He calls it a tabloid, which I bought a copy on Monday at the Pattonville Tournament. I've never hard him call it a book. I found it to be very informative and someone who came through during the 80's, it was great to relive some of those old memories of games I watched. I got home and found myself picking up over and over again through the night. For $6, it's a steal with all of the knowledge in it. I agree with nate, i would recommend getting a copy. torch, you seem to be natin' a little bit. What's the deal? bad boyz for life
  8. I understand that fully, CougarRed and I look forward to seeing the Cougars as a full unit. If they are hole, they could challenge memphis for the C-USA title. I really mean that. my point was that the missing players weren't a factor when the cougs were 3-0 and putting up about 95 points a game. it only matter after they lost. From what I saw, I still saw some good players. That anderson guy who came off the bench. Hell, he could start for slu if he shot the ball like I saw today. I wish we had a forward who could shoot like that. My post wasn't meant for you as much as it was meant for some of our own fans on this board that seem to think whenever SLU has a big win, it must have been something wrong with the other team, or if a prime-player happens to come to slu, it just occured by happenstance. we were 9-21 two years ago and nobody took into account that we had an all-conference guard from the year before who was injured the entire season and played about 50 percent and a starting center who was the team's rebounding leader and c-usa field goal percentage champion who missed virtually all of the season with concussions. many of our own fans didn't seem to care that we lost so much, but we rlove to roll out the red carpet and give any team the bills beat a built-in excuse as to why they lost to the billikens. We seem to be slow to give our own team credit. we have a local columnist in town that rips much of our fan base because we seem to have lower expectations and are happy with mediocrity. the fans complain and complain, but they prove bernie right when they apoligize for billiken victories and start currying favor with the opposition. I don't think the cardinal baseball fans gave a damn that the new yok mets were missing two of their top starting pitchers (including their No. 1 starter in Pedro) and that their starting left fielder got hurt in the first game. I don't think cardinal nation was apoligizing for winning the pennant against a team that was missing so much. bad boyz for life
  9. Just to clarify one thing about houston missing three starters for saturday's game. Starter #1. one starter is lanny smith, who hasn't played in a single game yet this year and is considering taking a redshirt year. Starter #2: Dion Dowell. He is transfer from Texas who will not be eligible to play until second semester. I'm sure we'll see him in january. Starter #3: Malone, he's their top frontcourt player who stayed behind in houston due to illness. But smith and dowell haven't been with the team at all, but they were still averaging about 95 points a game without those two. Malone was the only starter missing in this game. Let's not start acting like we beat up a depleated houston team full of walk-ons and managers. even on this board, we have some people on this board who have a habit of downgrading billiken victories and making excuses for the other team. the excuses that billiken board posters made for southern illinois losing at slu last year are still legendary. if we lose one of our big three major players and lose a game, our guys won't get the benefit of the doubt. instead, people will get drunk off of all the hateraid that would be swallowed. bad boyz for life
  10. I wouldn't look forward to playing houston if I was any team the rest of the way. They have a chance to win the c-usa this year, especially with malone and smith. bad boyz for life
  11. I'd say five conference championships and five NCAA Tournament berths in just over a year of league competition is a nice argument for the choice of conference. And remember, the men's basketball team finished tied for third in its first year and are slated for even better things this year. And with Shimmy, the women's basketball is on the rise as well. I don't know why we are still even discussing this. The past year has been unbelievable for slu athletics. bad boyz for life
  12. The top junior on the east side is not only smith from east st. louis, but anya covington, a 6'2" athlete from Edwardsville. many of these girls are regulars at billiken games. also, luke meyer has a cousin at new haven who is a 6'1" guard who can flat out play. she is also a premier junior. not sure what her recruiting is like. anyway, shimmy is hitting the local trail very, very, very hard. getting the big prize in lisch was the big coup because it brings instand credibility, especially since she's already out of the gate ballin' How about 27 points in her first road game? The other girls have too look at that. Just like the boys, the '08 class is loaded on the girls side as well. I think shimmy will get her share. shimmy gray, bad girl for life
  13. Elliot Berry from McCluer moved to San Diego early last summer. bad boyz for life
  14. starting tonight, this next four-game stretch of games is huge. we have A&M, Houston, Loyola and Southern Illinois and three of the four are road games. with this team, we could have easily loaded up on patsies and gotten out of the game 7-0 or 8-0, but we're getting into the heat early and often. is tonight's game on TV. if not, I can't wait to listen. bad boyz for life
  15. earl said that kevin asked out because he needed a blow. he even took a foul on purpose to stop the clock. bad boyz for life
  16. I was at the meeting. He didn't say the top kids were going elsewhere as if it were a foregone conclusion. What Earl said was that we are recruiting the top three or four heavily, but so are the top programs in the country (he mentioned names like florida, kansas, north carolina, Illinois. that's going to make it real tough for the billikens. bad boyz for life
  17. since pullen and the swansey kid from georgia are off the table. lacey would be a good fall-back plan as well. he is pretty good. bad boyz for life
  18. Spoon did the same thing with John Redden. bad boyz for life
  19. O.J. has a pretty good handle on this one. bad boyz for life
  20. The Majority, You owe me royalties for the use of my line. bad boyz for life
  21. that's wrong. i think most everyone knew lorenzo was pining to get back to the west coast. he did most of his recruiting in the west coast to keeps his connections live. bad boyz for life
  22. Lorenzo did not recruit ahearn. brad did until he did the about-face. bad boyz for life
  23. I must correct you on the jamal tatum recruiting. He wanted to come to slu. lorenzo offered and appeared ready, but LO left for washington. brad still had the offer out there, then inexplicably, he took the offer off the table and gave the scholly to brandon morris, the juco guard who never made it to slu because of academics. that one isn't talked about as much because the ahearn situation went on at the same time. they happened to play for the same eagles team that summer. i'm still a little miffed by that one. bad boyz for life
