  1. Rich is right, the SOS only accounts for teams you have already played. I think they tweaked it a little, but the SOS used to account for so much that a loss to a top 25 RPI team was better than beating a team with RPI worse than 200.
  2. >I don't think anyone cares if Dustin excites you or not. >I'll agree though, that his signing will take an element of >faith in Brad to appreciate. I wasn't really speaking necessarily for myself, but I would argue that for Billiken fans it's difficult to get excited about a guy who scores five points in the Shootout. Aren't we trying to build excitement for the program, as we have done with the Lisch, Liddell, Polk signings. I get excited over everything with the Billikens. A layup by Peyton Jacks makes me excited. So if I'm finding it hard to be upbeat about less than stellar reviews from a number of people, than the average SLU fan will find it even more difficult.
  3. hope you're right. It's just difficult to be excited about a guy who people are saying is Troy Slaten. We do desperately need a good three-point shooter so Brad's strategy is understandable.
  4. All this bad news about DM makes me kind of wish we had red-shirted Luke, even though I'm not sure he would have even wanted to considering academically he's already a Junior.
  5. MO St. is 3 in the Sagarin, but it is too early to put any stock into it.
  6. I decided the realistic yet optimistic non-conference record for me is 7-5. That hinges on us being able to beat Oakland on the road, win the two against kennesaw State and Chicago state, and being able to win at least one of the three against Miss, Gonzaga, and Iowa. That either means a home win over a very tough opponent or a less tough opponent on the road. I think 7-5 would be solid considering the difficult non-conference schedule.
  7. >I was pleased with our performance because the only >McDonald's All-American hopefull we're ever going to get to >come to SLU actually works at McDonalds(on Lindell, a block >or so away from SLU, night shift). > Larry Hughes was a McDonald's All-American. Who's to say another won't come.
  8. just to point out...the ball was not out on Tommie on that play...
  9. but oh well. At the defending champs, no calls, crazy environment. That's tough. Games like this will be huge for us later as we get into tough close conference games. I really wanted it though.
  10. I'd be willing on SLU with that spread.
  11. Did anybody go see Dustin play today at the Shootout? I believe the game was a 12:30 game. I'm just curious as to how he played and was hoping someone would have a little info.
  12. I would think the league would definately want Creighton
  13. 1.) Because historically the A-10 has been a better conference than the MVC, until the MVC gets two Elite 8 teams in one year, I might listen. 2.) Because while geographically these schools don't make sense, we are more of a match with Xavier, Dayton, St. Joe's, Temple, and the other private institutions as well as many not being football schools. This leads me to the next point. 3.) The non-football schools and private schools should be thought of in the future. The Big East's current structure probably will not last and we should align ourselves as much as possible with these types of schools for when a parochial conference (if ever happens) is formed. Marquette, Depaul, SLU, Xavier, ND?, St. Joe's, etc make a very strong conference. 4.) A-10 has a television contract with ESPN.
  14. that article was probably better than the post's seasonal preview.
  15. what was the other school he was interested in? was it kansas?
  16. It's college basketball. Anything can happen. Nobody thought the 8-12 Bills would knock off the then #2 Louisville Cardinals. We're gonna win because DP is gonna find his stroke and go for 18 pts and 10 assists.
  17. I would say it's the right move and it illustrates that Brad may not be as stubborn in his ways as some might have thought. He is obviously showing he can adjust his style and gameplan based upon his opponent. Memo to JJ: Take advantage of the opportunity.
  18. >great point on JJ. I've always thought the same thing. I >think he expends more energy than he needs to. I think he's >so under the gun to prove he's hustling and giving his all, >I feel he moves around a lot spastically so he proves he's >trying. Maybe he could be more effective if he moved >smoother. The best athletes can get results and make it >look effortless. I totally agree. I sort of think it's possible coach has him wound too tight and he feels he needs to impress and put it all on the floor everytime he goes out there. But instead of hustling under a little more control, he kind of runs around like a chicken with his head cut off.
  19. >If we play crap defense, allowing them open threes, and we >have an off shooting night. I don't see it but it wouldn't >shock me. I expect us to rise to the challenge and lose >with dignity (at least this year) I actually don't think this team is a particularly great three-point shooting team. They certainly weren't against Illinois or even Kentucky for that matter. I would imagine our defense would be up playing as hard as they can. Unfortunately, I'm worried PF Reyshawn Terry will dominate us on the glass and on the block. JJ will have to play more than 8 minutes because if we stick TL or DB on him, he'll have an easy go of it all night. I'm curious to see if Brad starts Newbourne or JJ or continues the 4-guard lineup.
  20. I'm not sure we stopped it, but rather teams have done a good job on getting back against us.
  21. Drejaj had a good game. His 3-point shooting really kept us ahead. I 100% hope the current trend continues. If that is the case then he should remain in the starting lineup. However, if he begins to shoot like his career has suggested then no, I would rather have lisch start. Good game by Drejaj though. p.s. Ian is awesome.
  22. I assume Danny would start on him.
  23. >I didn't say you personally attacked me, I was making the >point that these ridiculous debates lead to personal attacks >because they drive people crazy. > >For your information, I AGREED that Lisch should start over >Drejaj. So what is there to disagree with? The stats I >stated? They were stats, not my personal opinion. just breath deeply and then begin typing. Neither of us were debating who should start or who is better, but rather the notion that those shooting statistics were truly representative of both AD and KL. I believe KL is a better 3-point shooter than AD right now so when someone says AD is a better 3-point shooter and shows me that in 4 games his percentage is better I have to agree with K-Shoe that those numbers are not good indicators of who is truly the better shooter. Before Kevin went 0-4 yesterday from beyond the arc and AD rattled one in, those percentages might have been skewed towards Lisch.
  24. yeah i'm not discouraged by this game. 3-1 would be nice, but we lost a tough one to a good team on the road.
