  1. Here goes, listen up. 1. Triangle is shocked that nobody (apologies if Too missed it) picked up on the quote from Cody Ellis. "We basically gave up in the second half". Don't remember any athlete in any sport leveling this criticism on himself, his teamates and coaching staff. "Everything we did in the first half, we did the exact opposite in the second-". Why -"THE EXACT OPPOSITE IN THE SECOND" ???????? Answer - it is coaching people. 2. Assistant coaches - what are they there for? Is there not one assistant coach than can work on free throws - is it just a lost cause? What input do they have during a game, they seem too be Coach Majerus and Coach Moser clones - don't rock the boat. Didn't they hear that unemployment benefits have been extended for 13 months. 3. Coach Majerus's future. Let's all face it, he is not very healthy and getting up there in years and he really needs too make his health his very first priority. Triangle remembers back at Too's University of Arizona and how recruiters used Lute Olson's age and health conditions against commiting. Thankfully Coach Olson's family stepped in and said enough is enough. Father time and as the number of pill bottles mount up in the medicine cabinet - well. When it is time - our associate head coach should not be promoted. 4. Fan dissatisfaction - The truth is - we can do nothing. With some promise for next year, season tickets will be about the same. The big hit this year has been in virtually NO walk-up gate and will continue for the rest of the year, have you noticed that scalpers are suffering from extreme weight loss. Booing college players and coaches, wearing brown paper bags, wearing brown paper bags with no holes cut intoo them so we don't have too watch, even at home? Any communications with athletic administration is met with "well, we lost our 2 best players." What about the improvement in the players we have - none. 5. Bernie interview - A friend called and clued Triangle in on an interview on 101.1 on Thursday with Coach Majerus (evidently he does this every Thursday). From what Too was told admittedly second hand, Coach Majerus went through a list of St. Louis players that he couldn't land because they went too bigger conferences (BCS) and that the Atlantic 10 was a problem in recruiting. WHAT! Did he think that Saint Louis University was going too join a BCS conference? Did he think that joining the MVC would have helped in recruiting these players? If you can add too this interview please do. Triangle is starting too wonder why Coach Majerus accepted this job in the first place. 6. BEAT St. Joseph. We have too - We must - Make Noise! See everyone courtside at the game! so it goes.
  2. Right on BustedDreams49. Scholarships are renewable every year. Recruiting mistakes - student/athlete mistakes, whatever, so what. There used too be a concern about the ability of colleges coaches "running off" players. The point is too get the best student/athletes intoo a university and ontoo the court, excelling in both endeavors. so it goes.
  3. Thanks BBall Fan. Triangle just can't believe at this point in the season that the shooting on our Billikens is that bad except for bad coaching and causing offensive "stress" by over emphasizing the defensive angles. Triangle, a long time ago, got intoo trouble on this board for calling for a coach too be fired - it is not at this point yet - but. The loss of our 2 best offensive players was extremely hurtfull, but that cannot be used as an excuse for the sorry excuse of our players' shooting percentages. so it goes.
  4. There is totally NO direction from our Billikens. From the coaching staff too the players, just nothing. It is just crap! Has this team become totally focussed on defense that scoring has become obsolete. Our best free throw shooter got too the line -ZERO. 37% from the field, 41.7% from the FREE throw line, again just crap. As dedicated Billiken fans, we could always find something too hang a hat on even throogh the lean years, but this team just sucks. No direction, and Triangle believes it comes from the coaching staff - if players don't do EXACTLY coaching defensive things they will lose (it has been imbedded in their minds) - no imagination, no creativity on offense. Our players are so worried about playing defense, because of coaching, it has directly influenced their thinking on offense (turnovers) and missed shots. 37% FG - 41.7 FT% - Let us pray. so it goes.
  5. You know very little about the enivironment of juco student/athletes Billikan. As the NCAA rules changed, so did the juco schools and the fact that their student/athletes have to have 60 hours of course direction to be applied to a degree at a four year institution. There are 346 D-1 schools playing basketball, many, many, many, many have juco players. He is working towards his junior college degree in business at Flo Valley. Your attitude towards juco student/athletes is disgraceful. Triangle has too presoome, from your post, juco students (not athletes) as a whole, coming intoo the educational environment of SLU, will not be able too make the grade. This is nothing more than an elitist attitude. so it goes.

  7. Did this guy actually watch the same game and report on the same game that Triangle listened too? Listening too the pre-game show, Too learned that the Owls second leading scorer, Juan Fernandez would not play. Excellent Triangle thought, a big plus. Fernandez has had some tough times, but in the last 2 games he scored 20 against Villanova and 15 against Fordham. Timmermann made no mention of the missing Fernandez in tooday's article, why?. His whole article was based on Temple's .306 shooting percentage and attributed this too the Billiken's defense. Well, Temple was able too take 62 freaking shots! Team defensive stats are totally misleading, a player misses a wide open shot (even a dunk) and the defensive team gets a stop. This guy is really lazy - not even a mention of the following BESIDES the Fernandez injury: 1. Starting both Loe and Conklin and then Loe getting only 15 minutes and Remekun getting 23. 2. Cassity playing 34 minutes and getting only 4 shots (0-4). 3. Salecich playing 17 minutes (0-0, good but not for 17 minutes of playing time) 4. Ellis only getting 7 minutes of playing time without a shot - no explanation. 5. Billikens getting too the free throw line only 10 times and shooting a bismal 50%. 6. Billikens being 0-7 from 3pt. (He mentioned Temple's Moore being 4-17 from the field??) These are all legitimate questions that a reporter must realize that impacted this game but none of these were addressed in his newspaper article about the game. Triangle realizes that column inches are limited - but he is a reporter of facts. Triangle also realizes that no columnist in the Post is going too touch our Billikens this year (unless there is some super dramatic turnaround of fortunes) so we are left with a game reporter. So what are we left with, Tom Timmermann, Mr. spin, Mr. let's not asked any tough questions in the locker room, Mr. let's not upset anyone. Reporting is reporting, the facts are the facts, we are not getting them from Timmermann and we certainly won't get them from 101.1. Where is Stu? so it goes.
  8. From Triangle's second home state. http://www.aolnews.com/2011/01/08/congresswoman-gabrielle-giffords-shot-in-arizona/ Let us pray for all of the people involved and for the future of the United States of America. The Arizona vs Stanford game has been postponed until toomorrow out of respect. so it goes.
  9. Triangle's opinion only and jump on Too's ass if you want too, but. Do you really want a 6' 11 long armred guy putting the ball on the court? Sure there are isolated incidents and memories, but only if he is outside before he passes off or receives a pass in the lane very close too the basket before going up (don't really like that one either, go right up and JAM TIME!). so it goes.
  10. We must all remember that "the" incident and other incidents involving Willie Reed as a "student" at Saint Louis University as reviewed by the Conduct Committee have absolootely nothing too do with him being an "athlete", nothing. This statement reflects that and that only. Mitchell has been granted the right too re-enroll as a student without qualification after being expelled, Reed has been granted the right too re-enroll as a student with qualification (probation) after being expelled. These are going too be 2 completely different situations in the eyes of the NCAA, and they alone control whether a student (first) can be eligible for an athletic scholarship (second). Now here is the next important development, listen up. The communication ball, up too now, has been entirely in the university's hands with a "shut up" too the athletic department. Now with both being granted permission too enroll as "students", it is up to AD Chris May too communicate what this means to Billiken fans as far as these 2 being "athletes" in the future (Reed is "suspended" from athletic competion for this semester) and their scholarships and how NCAA involvement will effect this situation. It is now time for AD May too speak up - will the university let him? so it goes.
  11. Much earlier this year, Triangle was peroosing on a Saturday, switching back and forth watching college football games as we all do. Ran intoo an Army game at West Point's Michie Stadium. While the camera gave multiple views of this historic stadium, the announcers talked about the first football game played in October 1924 against our own Saint Louis University - 17-0 - Army. so it goes.
  12. Has that homeless golden voice guy, Ted Williams, also secured housing? Maybe he could replace Guy Phillips.
  13. Thank you very much. Maybe us of past differences should go too Congress and get things straightened out. Here is another thing that just gripes Too's ass. Get rid of that crap where the center comes out way above the key on defense too try and trap someone? - leaves the lane wide open and constantly causes irregular heart beats in Triangle's chest. Our centers are not athletic enough too get back. Stay back and guard the lane! Question? Evidently Mitchell has been reinstated too the university as a "student" and practiced with the team tooday. BUT, since he was expelled from the university the NCAA will be treating him as a returning or new "student" and he must go through the dreaded "clearing house" procedure too determine his eligibilty as an "athlete". Is he allowed too practice with the team? Can someone help with what this might mean? It may be irrelevant with probably being redshirted. so it goes.
  14. Looking at Sunset Hills they should be also looking at the disaster at the Chaifetz. Coach Majerus has stated on many occasions, and not just this year, "You are who you are". Triangle finds this position totally objectionable and insulting. Things have too change. There is NO progression, only regression. Lack of on court leadership with the loss of Mitchell should have been an opportunity for someone too step up (Cassity?), it has not happened. Failure by the coaching staff too make in game changes and too try things outside the box of their traditional career and Billiken coaching ways is perplexing. Shooting percentages, well they just suck - Free Throws, Jesus, just unbelievable, again perplexing. The concentration levels of our players seem too disappear during stretches. The coaching staff needs too start mixing things up, it might wake up the players and the fans during these stretches and the game. Now listen up, use both Conklin and Loe playing a high low with Ellis at the 3. Use Cassity as the point with the McCall/Jett combo at the 2. Zone once in awhile too give a new look on defense. You don't have too start a game like this but switch things up, liven things up, mess with the other teams' mind a little. Things need too change, is our coaching staff willing too change? Triangle thinks NOT, they have accepted the fact that this is lost year. so it goes. PS You can't compare teams, unless your playing that team - way too many variables.
  15. Triangle has been pounding the beat and Too's vast resources and has collected no factual information, only "don't quote me", "This is what I think but don't quote me" and innuendo opinions. Triangle's thoughts and opinions on the situation are as follows: Both university expelled student/athletes will be back on campus on Jan. 3, 2011. A formal review by those involved on the student conduct board will not happen until the end of the first week or the second week of January. There may be a new member or too who did not rule on the original case (this may cause a slight delay) and Coach Majerus may be asked for opinions. A decision will be reached by the end of the 2nd week of January or the beginning of the 3rd week of January. If both student/athletes have met all requirements as handed down by the original board, they will be reinstated. Schedule: Jan. 14 - Residence Halls open Jan. 18 - Classes begin Jan. 18-28 - Late enrollment The board may also recommend that Coach Majerus be reprimanded formally - 4 recruited student/athletes directly involved. Coach Majerus will heavily lobby for both student/athletes too redshirt and concentrate on their education in the spring semester. Let us hope that they both take Coach Majerus's advice. As far as some players not wanting these 2 back and reviewing all of the circumstances involved in the original situation, is this and has this been a racially divided team? so it goes.
  16. Not a bad showing in the tournament as a whole. Our Billikens were in every game but in the last 2 games they seemed too hit a wall around the minutes surrounding the 9 minutes left mark in the second half. Missing Loe this game hurt, he should not have played all of the minutes he did in the 2nd game coming off of the dreaded Mexican barf sickness. Our Billikens showed resiliency in all of the games against much more experienced teams in these last 2 games and this will be extremely important for our future. Free throw shooting still plagues, 38.5% sucks. The thing that REALLY bothers Too in this game was the fact that Ole Miss had 19 turnovers too our 7?????? Triangle guesses that Cody Ellis just said "screw it" and would rather be someplace else, going 0-7 and also passing up several open 3's when our Billiken's needed too score, not a scorer's mentality. With a shortened lineup, we only had 9 pts off of the bench but Paul and Dwayne were a combined 4 for 6. Brian Conklin played a heck of a game in foul trouble and look for him too start ahead of Loe, he has fought his way back - still wish he wouldn't miss those shots close too the basket. Cassity, what can you say, he seems too realize when others are struggling, he should shoot more, take those 7 shots from Ellis and give them too Kyle. Salecich improved toonight, not taking a shot after going 0-3 clunkers in last nights game. McCall and Jett, well what can you say. so it goes.
  17. Triangle is sure that Coach Majerus's staff has identified St. Louis metro possibility players going back too 8th grade but will they ever wear the Blue and White? Triangle thinks not. - see the lower case "S". so it goes.
  18. Nice post but Triangle believes the learning process has too end somewhere, yes they are fine players and will continue too improve - fine quick players. The jist of Too's post was (and maybe Triangle did not explain it properly) but Too agrees with Coach Majerus's philosophy far more than that debacle with Coach Romar. St. Louis area players need too stay home and Too really thinks that Coach Majerus has "turned away" after the Suggs and Perry situation and has basically "written off" Metro recruiting. so it goes.
  19. Triangle is perplexed about the current situation of Billiken basketball in reference too local recruits. Coach Romar has Scott Suggs in Washington and Coach Miller has Jesse Perry at Arizona - both players are averaging less than 15 minutes per game. In Perry's defense, his playing time has been drastically increased in the last 4 games as a juco transfer, but Suggs is a junior, all 3 years at Washington. They were out of the same recruiting class, All St. Louis Metro. These guys would be averaging over 25-30 minutes a game even with Mitchell and Reed, for SLU. For the old time posters, you all know Triangle's problems with Coach Romar, he was a vagabond, guard coach and his defensive coaching and second half game adjustments were horrible. This year when they play blood donors they score 95 too 115 points, when they play a possible sweet 16 team or an elite 8 team they average (a team that believes in defense too win games) they average in the upper 60's. Coach Majerus on the other hand believes in a total game concept but after losing Suggs and Perry (forgetting about Perry in JC), Coach Majerus just turned too the southern hemisphere. Chicago and Milwaukee are a hotbed - but our Billikens will never get the best from these areas, good, teaching prospects. After Paul and Kyle are gone, will we ever see another metro area player in the blue and white again while Coach Majerus is our coach? Merry Christmas and so it goes.
  20. Great post dlarry - agree wholeheartedly. Anyone who is a fan of D-1 basketball, no matter what your affiliations are, this game is a must see in person. It is always a Final Four atmosphere, stratosphere, whatever sphere. Packed house, screaming fans, every possession is a matter of life and death, victory or loss for players and fans. This is what college basketball is all about - this is why we love it. See you all courtside at this great game. so it goes.
  21. Triangle's Christmas wish is for everyone on Billikens.com and around this world is too have a tremendous joyous, safe and reflective holiday season. The birth of Christ, that is trooly what it is about, peace on earth, for everyone. No inhabitant of our planet should be worried about some freaking idiot setting off a bomb or breaking intoo our homes and shooting the place up - there should at least be a worldwide moratorium on this lawless crap during the Christmas season, no matter what your religious affiliation is. Please take a moment in your holiday prayers for our servicemen, our policemen and firemen who protect us from the idiots. so it goes.
  22. General statements about east coast, Florida, prep schools are completely misinformed and misleading. It reminds Too of recent political statements about how the "American People" have given us their mandate. The Division 1 basketball rosters have 100's of juco players who are helping their teams too win. You are talking about the stars that haven't made their high school commitments that can either afford or get so called "scholarships" too play in a prep school. The rest go too jucos, and there are plenty of them throughout Division 1 basketball. Student/Athletes who made academic mistakes in high school but who have righted the course in JC and who are now available too contribute both academically and on the court. This is a pool of players, a source of possibility. All Triangle is saying- is our present coaching staff evaluating this possible pool? Triangle thinks not. so it goes.
