  1. Thank You very much Mr. Yankee. Much Appreciated!
  2. Rob Jeter - http://uwmpanthers.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/jeter_rob00.html so it goes.
  3. You pointed out a possible problem with Barnett not starting, but you did not point out the solution! Replacing WHO in the starting lineup? Typical Billiken.com response, no solution. Reminding you, this is the starting lineup at the beginning of the season. Mitchell and McCall, extremely quick guards that will raise hell on defenses, Evans? Conklin? WHO? Answer the question. so it goes.
  4. Yes, Yes, Yes!!! Let's spend a lot more recruiting efforts (costs and time) on Australia and New Zealand not too mention playing in some tournament down under when there are plenty of tournaments in the Northern Hemispere where toilets flush the correct direction. Our Billiken presence needs too be established in the good ole USA, Coach will be gone in 2 years and so will down under. so it goes
  5. Not much new in this evenings interview which was pre-recorded. There were some things that were "between the lines" type of things. These were strictly "between the lines" type of comments but when you couple them with Triangle's superb interpretations you will draw on your own conclusions. The vacant coaching position will probably not be filled untill late May. Coach is looking for someone who 24/7 is committed too SLU basketball. If someone needs too shoot 500 shots on a Sunday afternoon, that coach needs too be there (Too could fill the bill here). Jim Crews doesn't think he can devote the extensive time that the Coach is looking for. Discussed Coach Whitesell as an excellent X's and O's coach. Did not dismiss promotions. Triangle thinks that for this year, promotions are in order with a hiring on the lower end of a strong juco recruiter. Coach went at length about trying too recruit players in the Atlantic 10 (a lesser league) a real hassle. Talking about the SLU education and being able too play in his rotating system rather than sit on the bench with much fewer minutes does not seem too mean anything too recruits. Talked about European playes, Australian players, and a player from Tenn with 2 scholarships available. Pretty much said that Mitchell and McCall will be the starting guards with chances that McCall being the better shooter with defensive attention being focussed on Mitchell which Triangle agrees. Singled out Loe as being huge next year with his extreme improvement in workouts. Jett and Evans are becoming stronger in realizing their roles, Triangle needs too see Evans in the 12 foot shot. Triangle's much earlier prediction of the starting five seems too be intact with Mitchell, McCall, Loe, Evans and Conklin. Coach did not mention Barnett or Cassity. so it goes.
  6. Hey - Triangle just does not understand the Porter Moser thing. He interviewed for a head coaching job last year. People need too move on and expand their horizons in recruiting beyond the local and Chicago level. Who knows what is in the recruiting efforts (national (including jucos) and international). Did Coach Stevens get the top recruits in Indiana? Coaches want too move up as quickly as possible, Porter did that after several years of trying - good for him. Triangle personally doesn't care where the players come from as long as they are student/athletes in the proud SLU tradition that form a cohesive competitive unit until their season is over. With Coach Majerus leaving after this contract expires, the most important thing is the hiring of a "head coach in waiting" (not Porter Moser). so it goes.
  7. Absolutely nothing about the basketball program. It was mainly a promo of the upcoming "Get With the Game" program on the 27th too benefit women athletes in the business school which Billy Jean King will attend. AD May said he feels that SLU has the best urban campus of any D-1 school. Also stated priorities - 1. Too give student/athletes the best of educations. 2. Complete at all highest levels. 3. Help the community. Mentioned the baseball team. I guess he doesn't realize where the interest lies - and neither did any questions directed towards AD May by KMOX. so it goes.
  8. Too be on KMOX shortly. Left too right on your radio dial or right too left depending on which way the radio or you are facing. so it goes.
  9. Triangle supports the troops - Too is an ex-troop. How many Billiken.com posters are ex-troops? so it goes.
  10. Interesting last paragraph Clock. You just can't let a coach go intoo his last year of a contract - especially with Coach Majerus's age and health concerns - rival recruiters will just KILL YOU. There is no doubt in Triangle's mind that Coach Majerus wants too coach (until????)(see what happened with Coach Stewart and Coach Olson in later years). Our program will be in a very difficult decision time on this matter this upcoming year. Our program seems too be in a wierd influx at this time as far as coaching and more important recruiting. (Most important things - recruiting, scheduling, recruiting, in game coaching, recruiting). Some people haven't addressed the graduation rate problem under Coach Majerus but it IS with Father Biondi with the player transfer rate of his recruited players. A possible solution too this mess could be a 2-3 year extension of Coach Majerus's contract with a stipulation that a "head coach in waiting" be hired. Historical past hirings of our coaches is at this time irrelevant - this next hiring, when it comes in the near future, and it will, WILL BE HISTORIC. Win basketball games, recruit players who graduate (not transfer) that is why you go too the bank Coach. In closing Clock - Father Biondi deeply cares about this program - you been too that beautiful new arena? why would it be there? so it goes. so it goes.
  11. Of course we will all not agree too disagree on this board on things according too Coach Majerus - facts. 1. Coach Majerus signed a 6 year contract in May of 2007. 07-08, 08-09, 09-10, 10-11, 11-12, and 12-13. 2. The signing of Coach Majerus at a very large salary was announced by Father Biondi with the expectations of raising the program too a "Top 50" status. 3. Coach Majerus will be 64 years old this next season and has had long term health concerns. 4. The first year is out the window in learning a new team, this last year was out the window because of idiots. 5. Coach Majerus is his own man - Father Biondi is his own man. Now here are Too's Takes: 1. The gap between Father Biondi and Coach Majerus has widened. Father Biondi is extremely upset about the "incident" and the character of players and what happened. (Graduation rates of SLU student/athletes). 2. Communication between Coach Majerus and AD Chris May are basically on a procedural level and not on a basketball program developement level. 3. Coach Majerus's age, contract and health concerns are working against recruiting efforts, for future years. a. Also his "one way" style of play. 4. Expenses and taking second hand knowledge of "down under" players have proven fruitless. FINAL Triangle speculations: 1. If Coach Majerus's contract is not extended this year, it will extremely effect recruiting, it may have already. 2. If our Billikens do not reach the NCAAs this upcoming year, he will be let go and payed off - Mr. Chaifetz may be a real concern in this decision. so it goes.
  12. Great post Box. Bill Dewitt realized that things weren't going well in the draft and player developement (they were bad). Things needed too change and Walt's ego wouldn't compromise - goodbye. Walt's true accomplishments with the Reds won't be realized for 4-5 years. So far he may pick up the Cairo and Edmond type players. so it goes.
  13. Triangle has talked about this subject for years. Too loves too see great competitive basketball and no one can argue that those 3 games weren't just phenomenal. In talking too Mizzou fans (one of which is one of Triangle's best of friends) the answer is "Why should we?". No matter what arguments that Too presents - passion - great crowds - rivalry mania - possible national TV, it is always met with the same answer with no further explanations, just blank stares too Too's mass bombardment of questions. Triangle has delved deeply intoo Too's vast cranium resources and the only thing that Triangle can unearth as an answer is that Mizzou does not want too play our Billikens in St. Louis because they are already playing Illinois here. They have no games in KC. The only resolution may be too sign on too play one game in Columbia (MO that is). Elimination of Planned Parenthood, elimination of NPR, our Billikens may have too bite the bullet (Republicans) in order too get this under way. so it goes.
  14. Walt was a master of trades, until teams realized that the players that Walt was including in deals (from the farm system) weren't major league caliber players - then the picking of pockets was over. Walt was responsible for the draft and developing major league talent, he failed. Triangle has attached a list of drafts - scroll down and check out 1995-2007. Another problem that our Cardinals are still suffering from is that ownership ignored the Carribean which Too now believes is being corrected and this will be a new influx of talent for the distant coming years. Walt had nothing too do with the young excelling players of the Reds. so it goes. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/draft/27.shtm
  15. Another possibility is Coach's long time friend Pat Sullivan from University of St. Francis. CS too University of Southern Indiana? Coach is going hard after Connell Crossland - (Hazelwood Central) Logan JC? so it goes.
  16. That is exactly the point!!!!!!! Universities keep hiring coaches without scope, without the future prospects of THAT coach's future. The writing was always on the wall for Coach Romar and Coach Anderson - the aspects of the situations are very similar and both universities are guilty of of hiring coaches with absolutely no local ties. Now why is that? Why is there college players in this state that choose not too go intoo the college coaching profession in this state, both at SLU and MIZZOU? There is no reason for Coach Painter too come too Mizzou except for the finacial future of his family. There is no reason for a coach too take over our Billiken program except for a short financial gain, there is no Billiken legacy. so it goes
  17. Interesting short discussion. Mizzou as well as SLU represents what is going on in hiring coaches. Mizzou hired a coach that had very strong ties with a certain university (Arkansas) - SLU hired a coach with strong ties too the west coast and his university (Washington). Coaches are waiting for other coaches too fail - Bender, Pelphrey - in order too get their dream job. Romar has now his dream job and Anderson has his dream job - Painter already has his dream job playing as a point guard in 3 NCAA tournaments for Purdue. Money maybe for the future, but Triangle would bet that there is not one single basketball player that their dream job is something other than coaching his former playing team. Some people might want too yawn and saw logs over this discussion but it is extremely revelant too hiring coaches in this atmosphere. Why hasn't 1 former SLU player entered intoo the college coaching ranks? Where are they? Yes our Billikens can hire an older experienced coach with a Jesuit connection - but. Our Billikens are doomed too coaching and recruiting mediocrity because we have no coaching legacy. Former Billiken players might WANT too coach this team but they have shown no job progression in this matter. Coach Majerus, we were very lucky, but in reality, we need a legacy coach not a stop gap. so it goes.
  18. are finally subsiding in Triangle's bodily functions (after consumption of mass quantities of munchies and beer) after last night's demolition of the Duke Blue Devils. The Shock and Awe that Too's Arizona Wildcats displayed in the second half against the defending champions and a #1 seed was trooly unprecedented in tournament history. Especially satisfying were those shots of Coach K talking too any ref who passed his way, begging for help - Too thought he was going too drop down too his knees, begging, begging, begging for help, like a dog. His players were whipped like a rented mule and so was he, against the Wildcat onslaught. Now that Triangle is back too this fine earth, reality has set in. Memphis St., gone; Texass gone; Duke, gone and now Uconn. Triangle's fingernails are also gone but not the beer supply. Can DWill and team come up with another superlative effort? Can the defense, rebounding and free throw shooting continue? Will the coaching staff continue too excel? And most importantly, can Triangle survive? - it is definitely March Madness in TooLand. so it goes.
  19. For Triangle's Arizona Wildcats against the Texass Longhorns. It will probably be a beating, Too still holds out some hope - but. With Butler beating Pitt, who knows in this tournament? My Wildcat key will be 3 pt. shooting and getting too the free throw line, we don't have much of an inside game. Gateway Tech's Perry needs to have a good game inside. Thanks for prayers at Sunday Mass and support. so it goes.
  20. Too's thoughts: The foremost star of the Fab Five was Chris Weber - without his thoughts and input intoo the documentary, it was virtually useless except for putting money in ESPN's and Jalen Rose's (as producer) pockets. There was no new information presented except for the nice films of the team in Europe which was obvious filler for Webber's non participation. Exploitation of college athletes - Jalen Rose didn't know what he was getting intoo and signing up for in playing college basketball? - yeah right. Duke was making money off of selling jerseys as Michigan. This whole program could have been historical in nature trooly historical,in an hour, but it wasn't without Chris Weber. But it turned intoo a Jalen Rose, his ego, not admitting that they (Fab Five) weren't any different than any other college basketball players (white or black) playing basketbal 5 on 5 and "I only took money for a few small things". What would have made the progaram much better was (and Triangle kept waiting for it) interviews with the sub and bench players and what they thought about the whole situation - it never materialized. The program should have been cancelled without Weber's input. so it goes.
  21. The long awaited awards by Triangle are now in (Oscars - No, Grammies No - Screen Actors awards - No). After careful analysis of statistics and visual interpretations of games played, Triangle is ready too award the following prestigious awards: 1. Too's Top - Brian Conklin - Just a Freaking Warrior!!!!! Just battled every game against whoever in the lane under the boards,he didn't care, pounding, pounding, pounding. With virtually no help inside except for Evans, he did his Billiken job. Second on the team in scoring. Oh, by the way, All academic. 2. Too's Top No. 2. This may surprise but it was Mike McCall. Playing over 900 minutes as a freshman at point guard he was a glue in a team that really needed a glue at point. Lead the team in points scored (323). Should start next year. 3. Too's Top No. 3. Dwayne Evans. Playing out of position at a 4 for much of the season he lead the team in rebounds by a wide margin. Extremely quick going too the lane, he should be the starting 3 next year. Needs to improve on that 12 too 15 foot jumper Too's Tanks: 1. Too's Tank No. 1. Christian Salecich. Was a virtual non contributor, except for playing with an extremely short bench. Just nothing that meant anything for a sophomore. 2. Too's Tank No. 2. Cory Remeken. Had a few spurts but showed no progress from last year. Seemed too be disinterested at times commiting stupid fouls. still young yes, but again, no progress from last year and no bulk and "Conklin" heart too play inside. 3. Too's tank No. 3. Kyle Cassity. Yes Triangle Knows. But Leadership was needed on this team and Kyle, although leading the team in minutes (978), his leadership wained through much of the season, not too mention his scoring - he just seemed too be lost about what too do instead of excepting the responsibilit on WHAT too do. He was 4th on the team in scoring (although his assists lead the team by far). Too's Most Improved Players: 1. Rob Loe - His minutes were upgraded intoo a starting lineup position. Started too get intoo the lane for both rebounding later in the season as well as assists. 3 pt shooting improved with minutes Had as many assists (23) as Evans. 2. Jordair Jett - Hey, Jordair did not know, he just didn't - but. Great coaching with Jordair and his acceptance of that coaching as the season progressed improved his stability as a role player. Jett is a Type A personality player, calm down. There you have it, Too's Tops and Tanks - except for one - Paul Eckerle Paul, your efforts in the acedemic, cultural and sports environment at SLU are greatly appreciated, Much Thanks! so it goes.
  22. After attending literally thousands and thousands of sporting events in Triangle's life, this was probably the best singing of Our National Anthem that Too has ever heard - trooly spectacular. The honoring of our soldiers during the game and the response from the crowd and especially the student section was extremely sincere and intense for all that have served their country in our military and who attended the game. Great Congrats too Saint Louis University for arranging this. so it goes.
