  1. SLU has bungled, blundered and any other word you can use the process. No one has ever explained the process. Was her lawyer and parents allowed but not the players? What sort of hearing (if any) was performed? Was their right to cross examine? What standards are being used? What was the appeals process and to whom are you appealing? SLU obviously believed something nefarious happened. How do you let them back on campus at all if you believe that. Then, how can you realistically go from a year to two months and have any credibility? Who made both decisions? Is it really 2 months? SLU may not legally be able to comment on the allegations but they should be able to explain the process. Someone needs to explain who made decisions and assure the campus, donors and public that all parties are being protected. Putting out a 1 paragraph press release is at best "naive" as Burwell said or at worst completely imcompetent. As an example, since we apparently want to be Notre Dame, what would have happened if this was the starting QB? Think ND would have handled this in a similar manner? The punishment may have been similar but the process would have been completely different. After defending SLU from charges of being amateurish and D3 mentality for 20 years, I think this episode shows that the charges are completely accurate.
  2. As a civil trial lawyer, once a statement or admission is made, it is nearly impossible to put the genie back in the bottle.
  3. According to KSDK, they have to completely apologize. This tees them up for a civil lawsuit. As far as law suit against SLU, it may ultimately be a loser but I guarantee SLU will look completely incompetent. Emails and memos from competing interests in the school. The secrecy that has ruled the day would be gone. Bad press all around. It would also keep the deep wound that exists over this wide open
  4. a pure "buy" game against top teams at their place can be had. what benefit will a blood letting at Cameron do for a, now, very young team do? I tend to believe Billikan's take.
  5. Billikan: This is staggering to me. So many thoughts come to mind.... How could Chris May have NOT been in the loop? Does anyone at SLU respect the Athletic Department? Our last one (name escapes me right now) got stepped over by Biondi when fired Soderberg and then quit. I really am begining to believe that SLU thinks of the athletic department as it did in 1980. Only us diehard fans view SLU as a D1 player. Staggering.
  6. No absolutely not. But the entire process has been cloaked in secrecy. It is now two days before practices begin. The formal announcement is that "they are not enrolled in the university." WTF does that mean? Fox 2 just reports they don't know if there is an appeals process. Who is on the PR staff who can handle this? Does SLU even have a compentent person on PR? Majerus and May are in hiding. No one is out explaining anything. Even those on this board who are connected know who is making the decisions. Then you get to the "punishment." So, if you are in the camp that believe a sexually assault happened, then you only suspend them for a semester? Real stick to it Catholic principles. KSDK says they can apply to re-enroll in January if they give a full apology. Allow two students who forcably sexually assaulted another back on campus in two months if they say "sorry"? BTW, this would set them up on a tee for a civil suit. Now you have Willie Reed's dad come out and say WR and KM were railroaded and says will sue the school. SLU says it can't comment at all without breaking Federal Law. Brilliant.
  7. Other than complete and total incompetence?
  8. Loved Chris! Could throw elbows better than anyone I remember and could never move his feet. Big man camp helped tremendously. Loe should probably be an entirely different style player and shouldn't really be compared. Conklin and Heinrich are likely more similar styles -- banger on the block
  9. Here is what Nate said about this on twitter a couple of weeks ago. Lots can change between now and then though... @BillikenReport Is Sean Kowal coming to SLU? 2:32 PM Aug 4th via web @BillikenMike I think so. 2:17 PM Aug 11th via Twitter for iPhone in reply to BillikenMike
  10. Saw this on Stltoday and didn't see it here. Its a one game deal at Duke.... http://www.stltoday.com/sports/basketball/...127992bc8b.html
  11. Thanks for all your great work Steve.
  12. Show me one quote on this thread that says anyone is happy about what has happened.
  13. Noticed this on CNNSI. Again, nothing new or definitive but SEC is starting to "look around" for contingent plans for new members if something big happens. If this is the public statement from the SEC, I have to believe that Big 10 and Pac 10 are seriously considering a big splash .... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/foot....html?eref=sihp
  14. Per Ben Boyd (Bernie's Producer) http://www.101espn.com/
  15. not saying I believe it because I agree with you cheesy but this was off cnnsi.com. Missouri to the bubble. http://ncaabasketball.fanhouse.com/2010/03...kusspor00000002
  16. Yikes. That guy creeps me out... Especially the super close ups...
  17. SLU needs that Defense graphic. That should change it around
  18. the other factor that the MVC used was to eliminate bad buy games. They would schedule a 150-200 RPI instead of a + 300 RPI teams. To that extent, I think the A10 has partially followed that model on scheduling.
  19. is the PAC 10 better than the Big 12 for colorado? I guess if the price is right... anyone know if this is realistic from Colorado's end? That could have a domino effect from west to east as who would take Colorado's place in the Big 12.
  20. Saw this linked at CNNSI. Don't know how this would directly affect the Bills but more potential shuffleling... http://www.latimes.com/sports/college/bask...0,1268259.story
  21. That is tuition without room and board. That is somewhere between +/- 6000 more
  22. It can be. However, you missed the point. It was inconsistent. The refs were slow when things start to get out of hand. There were to many quick whistles on stupid things. FWIW, Belmont should be furious too. Every ref misses calls. Being inconsistent, out of position and being unable to keep control are the worst things you can say about a ref. These seem to be the board's criticisms.
  23. Much of it is a shell game. they give lots more scholarships than they used to off set. This doesn't include books, labs, etc. But still the price is outrageous. If you take out loans, you will likely never be able to pay those off because tuition is increasing exponentially compared to salaries. Even if you get your loans under control, you will never be able to save to put your kids through. If you want to add in private high school, that is about $10,000 a year now too.
  24. Saw this over on cnnsi.com. Multiple potential NCAA violations in mens basketball. Former SLU AD Woolard had "no comment." Interesting to see what happens. http://ncaabasketball.fanhouse.com/2009/11...kusspor00000002
