  1. You got water logged in Seattle?! I think you mentioned living in Seattle before. Did you say that you lived in Everett? I live just north of downtown and people tell me that I've had unusually great weather since I moved here (plenty of those rare sunny winter days)-- and then this summer was one of the driest on record. I don't miss the heat or the cold at all. We'll see how winter #2 goes; I may be looking to move to the sunshine state myself...
  2. 27, grew up in Webster but now live out in Seattle, c/o 2000, majored in Finance. I worked as a systems analyst at AG Edwards for a couple of years before moving to Seattle (Romar announced his move on the day I moved out here, 4/3/02). Now I'm working in Sales and considering grad school. My first SLU game was back at the Old Barn vs. the Salukis during the Highmark, H, Clags days. I'm now hoping for a SLU/UW series!!
  3. also, don't forget that many of the Mizzou people blame the PD for a lot of their current potential problems...investigations. They are just viewing this as the PD taking another shot at the program. I think Nark is right, it is more likely that Gordon was referring to the other coaches in CUSA or just your typical pretty boy coach. His point was that Brad is more of a hard-working, genuine, regular Joe.
  4. another thanks to davidnark. Avant has some really cool features and only took about 3 minutes to download using a dialup connection (much quicker than a netscape upgrade). now i sound like an infomercial...
  5. Who knows what's up with MU...i just hope SLU beats the heck out of them next time they play!
  6. So far it looks like the posters at Billikens.com are making their opinion known. I'd be curious to see the overall number of respodents in addition to the %'s. Which conference do you think is the best fit for St. Louis University? 9% A revamped Conference USA 78% Atlantic 10 Conference 11% Missouri Valley Conference 0% Western Athletic (includes Tulsa, SMU and other schools not on West Coast) 2% None: SLU should go independent Polls are unscientific and for entertainment purposes only.

  8. ..unless Fergeson is gone or planning to transfer.
  9. I was wondering the same thing about Grimes and Mizzou. I wonder if they'll be able to sign all or any of their verbals in the early signing period. In my opinion, unless you can get a fourth player that is a no brainer, SLU should wait until spring. Tommie will have a big senior year. Use that to create some excitement with other recruits that would like to play with him.
  10. >Yep, public transportation is pretty good around here. Plus >I absolutely love that DC has an ESPNSportszone. Yesterday, >I went with a friend (also from Missouri, but Columbia >Missouri...grumble...) to watch the Rams game, and it was >amazing. I had the best burger I have had since I got here, >plus from my table, if I ever needed to see the game. I >could look in any direction. 6 TVs had the Rams game on, >and the Skins were playing at the same time. It was simply >amazing! Too bad they don't have one of those in Saint Louis. I think if we ever get an NBA team there would be enough professional sports dates on the calendar to justify one. As it stands, there are still a ton of events downtown. I wonder how they determine where to put the ESPN Zones? I was at the Rams game and it was a long obnoxious walk to the car after the loss. I was sitting in the NE corner right by the end zone where all the action was. Great game, bad ending!!
  11. >but Richmond is worth keeping. Thay have a decent history and have >soem of the biggest NCAA tourney upsets in history. not to mention, a cool mascot.
  12. ...on Survivor. I will have to make a 1 season exception and actually watch Survivor: Pearl Island. Tijuana Bradley was a SLU cheerleader probably around '95 - '96. I've known her since our HS days and she's definitely a nice person to represent STL. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor7/sur...o/tijuana.shtml
  13. "Thanks for the gruesome description. I now dislike soccer even more. Why people play soccer and hockey (very similar sports, in my opinion), when the risk of serious personal injury is so high, is beyond." I don't think its any more gruesome than something you could see in a football game or even a basketball game. I thought your comment about figure-skating/ballet was an attempt at taking a shot at soccer (made by many that dislike the sport) that there is no action or contact in soccer. This is frequently sited as the reason that people lack interest in the game. so i misread the intent of your comment...my bad. Even though I appreciate soccer, I don't completely disagree when it comes to watching soccer. Although I'd choose soccer over figure skating, I'd rather watch basketball or football due to the fact that I know very few of the players in soccer (outside of real madrid and a few other teams). I also dislike watching a lot of the MLS teams that attempt too many longitudinal passes and runs...no vision or emphasis on possession, spreading out the opponent, and playing into space. They try to force play too much.
  14. "I'm sure soccer takes a tremendous amount of athleticism and skill." Which is frequently the reason why people don't like soccer. When they tried to play it they couldn't, so they blamed it on the game being stupid instead of their own limitations. "So do ballet and figure skating. That's no cause for me to be interested." That's pretty funny. Too bad it doesn't make any sense as an analogy to soccer. I've seen legs broken, shins shattered, people kicked in the face and the subsequent convulsions, shoulders dislocated by the post, goalie punching a ball out and knocking out a guy that was in mid air, etc. We're all entitled to an opinion though which is why I wouldn't try to talk you into to liking soccer.
  15. My vote is for option 4: if you're not interested in a thread, don't read it. I feel sorry for Billiken fans that are soccer haters. SLU's strongest athletic tradition is soccer, deal with it.
  16. ...does this mean we can sign four this fall?
  17. "I've noticed, however, that the clever marketing isn't limited to the athletic department anymore. The Business School now invites one and all to sleep through their MBA. Brilliant!" Are you being facetious or is there some story behind this comment?
  18. is polk on the team? is there a web site for the eagles??
  19. i just rented a car last weekend out here in seattle. The guy that picked us up was a 6'9" guy named Marlon that recently finished playing for UW. He said that he went to a BB camp one summer that Baniak and Latimer attended. He complemented Baniak saying he was a great player and person. He said that Latimer was hilarious but he thought he was from Germany for some reason. i didn't think that sounded right.
  20. I think I know the firehouse you're referring too. It's down by Panama Red's and is on 20th...not very close to SLU.
  21. hopefully Izik has an interest in being a student, not just a basketball player.
  22. >I don't see us signing two 3s unless the JJ and the Greek kid really perform this year and we know Izik will stay for his 3 years. Please fill me in -- where else is Izik potentially going to go?
  23. I was just looking through the most recent Universitas and came across an interesting point regarding slubillikens.com. It said that the site has been redesigned and will include live game broadcasts and up-to-date scores. That may be old news to some of you, but I think it sounds like a potential great resource when the season starts. Also saw the renderings of the new BMC and it looks great. For those of you in Saint Louis or attending SLU, how is the construction coming along?? The publication also mentioned the design and site selection for a new research center at the Health Sciences Center -- part of an $80 million investment in new and renovated research space -- the largest single building project in SLU history. The total of the arena project is estimated at $70 mill. It's incredible to see the school is investing appx. $150 mill in the campus over the coming years!!
  24. According to Brad's comments today, Ian has a comparable game to Vlade. Put Yelovich (Sabonis) in the front court with him and you have to like the potential. Then consider the athleticism of a guy like JJ and the height of Husak...also Frericks. As long as a couple of these guys can defend, we're looking pretty good with the bigs. Do you guys think Brad will look to go big or small with the remaining 2 scholarships? Or do you think he'll just go with the best player available? As far as I'm aware, this is the local list we are targeting: Shaw, Lidell, Evans, Yelovich. Is this correct?
