  1. It's not a swing and a miss Vtime....but if Orear turns out to be a Matt Shaw type, one has to wonder why no offer was made.
  2. I was hoping to get reports from you guys on how they looked. Now no SLU recruits are playing? Why they weren't asked or just didn't want to play?
  3. Well UB must agree with Nate...according to the article he didn't offer. But who knows why? O'Rear might have said "not interested".
  4. Not disputing his talents, Doc, but he had some serious vertical mood swings...flashes of brilliance followed by flashes of mediocrity. After Legend left, I figured Baniak would be the man. We saw only occassional glimpses of what might have been.
  5. V if you're expecting people to bash UB for not landing Tyus it ain't gonna happen. We probably never had an ice cube's chance in hell of landing him to begin with. Now if all those frontcourt Gators suck next year and decide to stay in Gainesville, maybe he would consider a transfer....a joke...just kidding.
  6. Who cares...but when the rest of the world beats us in hoops...that pi**es me off. Someone above may have said it best, we don't want it as bad.
  7. So, if he was offered looooong ago, I'm assuming he's not all that keen on coming to SLU and is waiting further offers?
  8. We really haven't discussed this kid much. A one time Mizzery semi recruit who really hasn't generated much enthusiasm from you locals. The questions on him would be: 1.) Any chance of him contributing something this year? 2.) If yes to 1, is it because we are just so darned weak at the 4, or he is talented/good enough to play in the A-10. 3.) What are his strengths and weaknesses? 4.) Is he a Shaw type player?
  9. NOT IF THEY LOSE...REMEMBER THIS: "WIN...THEY WILL COME", it doesn't matter if the team is 100% local or 0% local, if they win fans will come.
  10. V-time, if Powell was offered for sure would he say yes? I think pdiddy's sources are pretty solid, if so here, why hasn't Powell said yes to SLU? Maybe he's not interested in us. Do you know, inquiring minds want to know.
  11. Goaty, won't happen until Floyd is made AC and the whole Vashon team just moves onto SLU after graduation. You got to love the guy though, he takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
  12. I read the Levick article and decided to look at SLU talk. First thread was, Mizzou fans praise V (IV). Clicked on the thread to Tigerboard...and sure enough slams on SLU's weight program and IV. Whose obsessed? I can't remember any post about Gardner's NBA prospects, because we could give one flying f... . Damn, I'd like to play them every year.
  13. Yep, I confused the Georges.. I know the A-10's history. I didn't mean it was a 1 bid conference, I meant GM's conference. That all said, I still think we're going to have post 23-24 wins to get in if we don't take the A-10 tourney. The only point I was making about the College of Charleston 4 years ago was they actually had better #'s than GM did this year + the prestige of winning the Alaska shootout, but they didn't get in since the SoCon is historically a 1 bid league. But times might be changing, since GM did make it this year from a 1 bid league. And them making the final 4 might allow some other teams from similar leagues to get in...which makes it tougher for us. Prime example: GM makes it, Missour State, w/higher RPI, doesn't...go figure.
  14. I have no idea what GW's schedule was like...but they won 26 games, lost their tournament, but got in from a historical one bid conference. Then went on a tear...that may change some perceptions with the selection committee as to historical one bid conferences. For example, college of Charleston, 4 years ago won 28 games + plus the Alaska shootout. Lost in the tournament semi's and was history as far as the NCAA. I think for SLU to get in next year, w/o the benefit of winning the conference tourney, we'd have to post at least 22 regualar season wins, possibly be regular season champs, and win two games in the tourney. One of those Non Con wins has to be against a ranked opponent, read SIU or TxAM, to justify us being there. Moral victories don't cut it with the committee. Face it, the A-10 is down right now and with GW taking serious hits it's probably dropping a little further. If all that happened we'd be around 24-8, beat a ranked team, did well in the tourney. With what our schedule is shaping up to be we'd probably have an RPI in the low 40's to mid 30's....how could they not let us in? Now all we have to do is make it happen.
  15. I don't see how UB can't do this for stretches of a game. Especially if no one distinguishes themselve at the 4. Again, it sure worked well at Charlotte. Even UB said we'd see more of it...but of course he's said we'll run more too. I do like the attitude of trying to win rather than avoid losing.
  16. I like the idea. Most of you are making excuses for BH. Did UB recruit him to play 10 minutes, be out of shape, and not develop some skills? Tell the kid right now this is the plan. I mean he should be working on all those things over the summer anyways. If not, pull his scholarship. A 7' and a 6'10' would cause a lot of matchup problems in the A10.
  17. possibly the biggest gaffe of all time was his post that he was in a private box at a Card's game and heard Brian Gregory was a lock for the HC's job at SLU....He's in the hall of shame as well.
  18. Herrion was hired by the outgoing CofC president. A lot of the big boosters here didn't like either one. So as the Pres goes so goes the coach. Also, Herrion's recruits were a lot like Huggy Bears, thugs. Herrion replaced a local legend, John Kresse, who many hoped would return. He's not. Herrion also wasn't a schmoozer and alienated a lot of fans, students, etc. Besides drinking at C'ton's many fine bars, CofC students love their cougars. They love their image as Giant Killers, but that hasn't happened too much under Herrion. He was there for 4 years, so I guess everyone's patience wore thin, especially since they've not won a SoCon tourney and not gone to the dance. Which they did pretty regularly under Kresse. Imagine that, a coach getting fired for just not winning enough. Herrion's brother coached at E. Carolina.
  19. I'd think we'd all be disappointed if this is not the year we crash the party.
  20. IV, TL, KL for sure the starters. Cannot wait for the rematch with NC to see IV go against Hansbrough. So who fills out the lineup? Obi making progress? Will AK be ready? JJ...aah...JJ? (again a good reason to give Bonner a temp position to school him as well). If the anwers aren't there at the 4, are we back to LM? If so, where have we improved ourselves and whose the 3? DB? DP? Any reports on how these guys are progressing over the summer?
  21. UB and bring in Bonner to help school him in the ways of the NBA.
  22. Halleleujah! Opa! Amen! Happy days are here again......The Billikens should be a legit contender for the A-10 next year and have our best shot at the dance in quite some time. Now we ABC'ers can focus on style of play, player development, and recruiting.
  23. Would agree with Sheltie, the PF is they key to scoring more points. TL was our second leading rebounder last year, that means we're missing his potential on the other end. Add DP into the mix with his down court speed and handles, we could put a lot more pressure on teams and get out of this 50 pts a game rut. Look what happened in Charlotte last year when we played twin towers...we scored +70 on the road and won. Hello...is anyone listening?
  24. I'd sure like to see this in the PD web site, but Pdiddy's not one to be dismissed easily....great news. Now let's go out and win the A-10 and get into the damn tourney.
  25. There are so many factors for a recruit to consider it's hard to say why they choose a particular school. However, SI did a poll of top players from the top 6 conferences last year, the over riding factor is the coach and his system. 3 star's got it right when he says our plodding style is not very attractive to the 4 star players. They don't want their talents/skills completely muzzled by the coach or his system. This is not to say these kids don't realize they will have to play within a system or scheme , but they also don't want to be penalized or chastised when they take the occasion to go outside the system. We all know how that goes over with UB. UB's got his system and maybe this would all be different if we had a couple of invites under our belt....but to date that hasn't happened.
