  1. You know sometimes it only takes one game to turn on the light bulb. Hopefully, RM's words of encouragement, his teammates support, some CR chants from the student section when he goes in, and positives from the posters, because they do read our junk (especially Jimbo's, our own resident Jimmy Kimmel who should change his moniker to Jimbo Kimbo). CR's a long athletic type that could make the inside a living hell for opponents. We are definitely going to need him in the upcoming weeks.
  2. Because we are used to playing 7 on 5 and don't need their help to beat teams is the reason.
  3. Isn't Redbird the hot single mom of the daughter that dated Cotto or something like that? Hmmm, maybe another trip to the Fetz would be worth it.
  4. Yeah, let's let RM handle the team. We should all just kick back and enjoy the ride.
  5. In TT's article, DE was quoted as saying something like, "We don't care what other people have been saying about CR...." . Now to the best of my knowledge I don't think the St.L media has been out there knocking CR's play, so the source of the critical comments about CR is likely us. It's silly to assume the team does not "sneak" a peak at this board, even if it is an RM rule. Heck, they probably have a good laugh or two at some of the inane things we post on here about them. So, to CR, we should all tip our hat and shout out a big "way to go" for yesterday's game. And also add, we're gonna need you down the road, so stay focused and make us all just... SHUT THE F* UP!
  6. I'm in agreement w/ the post that Temple's hard to beat w/ their trio of big guards that can shoot it. Plus Dunphey's a good coach. Our mantra remains, "Just win, baby" and let the chips fall where they may. We can't do anything now to stop the Temple bus, we just got to take care of our own business. Does anyone consider Temple at ST.J's and LaSalle road games? Cripes, those guys can drive to the game in their own cars, or have mommy and daddy drop 'em off at the gym.
  7. Aww, you're killing me, Westy Pine, but my jinx usually goes to 2 Ls before I get a win. I was seriously thinking of making a return for the X game, but don't want to take any chances. I'll save the next road trip for either AC or the Dance, if it's semi close.
  8. This team relies more on it's D than 93-94, which played pretty good D as well. Would love to have a sniper like Clagget, but CE does have his moments. But each stands on its own. You have to like the depth we have as we don't lose too much and RM can create some matchup problems.
  9. Fordham? Honestly, Bay, you couldn't wait to visit the relatives until X rolls into town a week later? I'm giving serious thought to coming back out for the X game, but I'm afraid of my jinx. It usually takes two L's to get past it. But then again, I'll probably wait until the AC or the Dance.
  10. Agreed. They would like to return the favor. X still has talent, they're just not playing to it. But as the dance looms big on the horizon they'll start coming out of their Cincy Coma. X will be toughie, as will Duquense in Pitt..
  11. Porter = Brian Gregory? Cripes, you would have thought he'd learned a lot in his 4 years under RM about X's and O's.
  12. After reading what Holloway's going thru emotionally, you wonder if KM didn't suffer a little hangover from the "incident". We all discussed how he hasn't seemed to be the same player he was his soph year. It seems he's starting to get back to where he was, but I'd guess he probably didn't think it was all that much fun in the early part of this season. When Mack said, "I want my tough guard back", I can picture RM saying to KM, "I want my leader back". These are young men who have had stigmas attached to them. And they have to go out and perform in front of a lot of people. It's got to be tough.
  13. Zo's starting to finally help us a little. They're 9-2 in Pac 12 play. Go Huskies!. OK could have really given us a boost but they just can't get over the top.
  14. Ah, it wouldn't be Philly unless something was thrown an opposing fan's way. Consider yourself lucky it wasn't a car battery, or the guy's girlfriend. On second thought, Taj Mahal, it was probably the girlfriend who threw it. Philly's fillies ain't all cut out of the Grace Kelly mode. In fact a lot of them could have been Joe Frazier's sparring partners.
  15. Actually sounded a little like a less enthusiastic Rammer. Best I've heard outside of the Rammer and Earl. Very fair and objective game call.
  16. Hard to tell players' height on web casts. But you're probably right because I do recall their announcers saying numerous times last night, Martelli's staying with 3 bigs. Which is probably why so many shorties got jammed up. And probably why CE got so many open looks from 3 land. And there's nothing sweeter than seeing one of your guys hitting 3s staccato fashion. BANG... BANG.... BANG.... BANG.... BANG.... BANG! Go, Rammer, go!
  17. More like a lot of shots of CE novacaine. Gotta make 'em numb first, then let 'em suffer with the after pain.
  18. The only real flaw I saw last night, on the web, was on our drives to the hoops. DE either needs to get quicker or stronger on his inside shots. This may just be my perception, but he's getting stuffed way too much on the shorties. What might help is if he had a better outside shot and his defender couldn't lay back on him, but that's not the real solution. It's strength and quickness on the inside. Also, JJ, MM, and KM all had trouble went they roamed in for layups. One promising sight was KC getting to the hoop for a nice lay in what could be described as follows: "he drives to the hoop with greatest of ease, makes the shot, give us two more and a thank you please." Seriously, when KC makes these drives he makes them look easy, he JUST WON'T DO IT ENOUGH! And, Big Al, what are you doing way up in Philly? They don't like Southerners. Of course, you were probably speaking in your best Brooklyneese last night. Then again those Iggle loving crazies, Taj Mahal 79 included, don't care too much for New Yorkers these days. I am in love with the Ninja avatar.
  19. I wouldn't totally discount X until ACity is over. They are probably as capable as winning the tourney as Temple, SLU, dare I say it, Dayton, or maybe even a darker horse. If we don't finish strong as in 12-4, and we get a tourney winner, say X, who doesn't have a dance resume, we could be on a very fragile bubble. Let's just get thru La Salle on Saturday. We'd all have taken 1-1 on this road trip but right now we need 2-0. You look around this league and there are teams, even from the lower tier, that can cause problems for any team on any given night. Heck, GW almost took down Temple at the Owl's nest last night. I hope our guys are not patting themselves on the back and whooping it up in the city of Brotherly Love. This is a business trip, fellas, and there's another big negotiation on Saturday night that has to be won.
  20. CE, you were Crocodile Dundee, Nicole Kidman, Veggie-mite, and Air Supply (hey, I'm old) all rolled up into one last night. As the SJU announcer said, "how do you say goodbye in Australian?" That wasn't an en fuego performance, it was friggin' nuclear. If playing SLU's like a trip to the dentist then you just dropped a triple root canal on the Hawk. And speaking of the Hawk, I swear I saw the bird take a few breaks last night, or at least some long pauses between flaps. Great road win, Bills. RM absolutely owns Martelli. Now let the Dentists make a house call on LaSalle and throw them a real outback extravaganza on Saturday night.
  21. Please don't tell me you're there on a peace corps mission.
  22. They must have some old nuns teaching at SJU. Ok, Bobby, go stand in the corner put on the hawk suit and flap for 3 hours.
  23. The encouraging signs for us: Getting the ball low to BC again. KM seems to be snapping out of his funk. MM starting in lieu of KC. They seem to have regained the D intensity. All the plusses need to stay in place. The minuses: FT....FT.... FT shooting up down all around over all BAD! To think they're not going to come into play in the next 7 games is naive. They must get their collective heads out of their collective a*&es and make them What opposing coach wouldn't say to his team w/ 3 min left and down by 4 or 5 to send 'em to the line and be quick about it. Leaning toward a 5-2 finish, but it could be better if WE HIT OUR FTS!
  24. Nothing good about Philadelphia, except the Cheesesteaks. It's gonna be tough getting out of there w/ a sweep. And if the A-10s shown us anything this year it's a strong league from 1 thru 11. A sweep would be as good as the Gmen winning the SB. I can't expect 2 miracles in one week. I'll settle for 1-1, but picking which W is still tough to do. If we beat St. J's will that over confidence thing hurt us again, but if we do, RM will somehow dig deep and motivate them to beat LaSalle.
  25. I hadn't realized the season had ended and we're talking about next year. You guys are discounting the development of RL. More work in the weight room and footwork drills will do what it did for BC. RL's only problem is thinking of himself as a big, which is hard to imagine since he's 7 friggin' feet tall, rather than a tall #3. Someone should get him some film on Zeller of UNC and say, "hey, Rob, that's the style you should be playing."
