  1. No tape of it on 590 web site. Got a brief rundown? Much appreciated.
  2. Yeah, your post and $7.50 will get you a double caramel latte at any Starbucks west of Seattle.
  3. All you need to know to know there is a bias, is how many BCS teams get in that don't win their tourneys. According to Lunardi's picks it's 28 BCS teams. So, according to Broy, whose numbers I trust, there a 31 auto bids for conf winners, add the 28 BCS non winners and you have 57 just about guaranteed spots every year. That means, if we don't win the A-10, we're trying to secure one of only 11 open dance cards. The point here is not that we're in trouble this year, we should be a lock by now, but it's gonna be tough to do it year after year after year. And those 28 BCS spots are down somewhat due to the ACC and Pac 12 both having below average years. There's definitely a BCS bias. I think it's time to go to a 96 team tourney.
  4. I'd like to know where CE finished on the 6th man award. Congrats to all our winners. And yes, Virginia, RM got screwed out of Coach of the Year. Heck, the UMass coach deserved it more than Dunphy.
  5. For Da Love, by virtual locks I meant the BCS'ers who don't win their tourney still get preference over the lesser conferences because they have built in RPI protection. As Broy stated, 31 of the bids are locks to the conf winners. With 6 BCS conferences I predicted an avg of 3 teams from each conf would be just about guaranteed a spot because you are going to have some very good teams who don't win the conf tourney. Look at the Big 10 as an example; 1 conf champ (? at this point) but they'll probably garner another 4 or 5 bids in addition: MSU, OSU, UM, UW, UI. My point was these bids were virtual locks before the season even began because these teams would have good resumes. Now at the other end of the BCS spectrum is the PAC 12. Who could've predicted back in Oct this conference would suck as bad as it has and may end up w/ only one bid? Back then you could have made a case for at least 3 to 4 Pac 12's having virtual locks; UCLA, UW, CAL, and AZ. But they've all stumbled and fumbled this year away. Still their lost bids will likely go to one or two BCS teams from other conferences and a couple to some good mid teams like GZ or ST.Mary's or Wichita St. I'll still stick by my prediction that 18-20 BCS non tourney winners will make the dance. Which comes out to my roughly 50 teams that are virtual locks every year to make the dance. Don't look at like teams being virtual locks, look at it as reserved bids, 31 reserved for conf winners and 18-19 for good BCS teams if you will. So year in and year out SLU, unless they win the conf tourney, will be battling for one of the open 18 slots left. Which means we're going to have to keep on having seasons like this year's. That is the sad reality of the NCAA with a field of 68 teams. And why I'd like to see it expanded to 96 teams. The top 40 teams get a bye, and then 48 teams have a play in game to fill in the open 24 spots. This format would eliminate the griping and whining we're gonna hear from a lot of teams that don't make it come selection Sunday. Heck, with all the computer stuff going on, you might not even need a selection committee other than to make regional adjustments.
  6. I think Carter's gonna be thrown into the fray next year. RM stated he was the best PG he's recruited to SLU. But really we're pretty well stocked at guard, so we'll see. What would be nice would be for JB to be a deadeye from Threeland.
  7. If we win the A-10 tourney, I think a 6 is a remote possibility. The BCS bids look like they're gonna be down a little, but our most likely is a 7. I'm just hoping we get in a region w/o KY or Syracuse especially if we're an 8 seed. Would love for a first rounder in Greensboro. Big Al, can you land us some tickets if it happens? On inside college bb on ESPN this morning they've got us as a lock for a bid. But no projected seed or site. I still think we've got to make a run in the A-10 for a decent seed. I'd prefer a 10 over an 8 or 9. The only two sites I'd travel to would be Columbus or Greensboro.
  8. No, WPJ, that was our road trip to Bradley to watch the Bills lose to UL in a 3 way playoff for the MVC title. Memphis got a bye and awaited the winner. I don't know if Sonoma was there, but I drove up w/ 5 guys and returned w/ only 4. One went MIA with a Bradley coed and took the bus back to SLU the next day. War is hell. Still think this would make a great T.
  9. The best thing about RL and CE is they have another summer or two under RM's tutelage to get that much better. I expect both of them to be more prominent on the inside next year to replace BC's production. I'm hoping for a nice run in the dance this year. Next year, if all goes well, I think we're a real threat to pull off a Butler or a VCU type run.
  10. Plus, Rossinos was a hangout for a lot of visiting Pros. I met more than a few NY Giant players there when they were in town to play the Cards. Mike was a great guy.
  11. No argument on AB. I was thinking a little more recent. But if you go back that far, I've no problem with AB. I wish he was more associated with the program actually. Like give him an AC job. Sure couldn't hurt the bigs learning some tricks from AB.
  12. What would be a good/great caption for this shot? The Billikens Play Trench Basketball. We ain't coming home til' we win it over there? It ain't over til' it's over over there? Release the Billikens!
  13. If you could get that pic on the front or back of a T I'm in. Just make the Billiken a little bigger. Tonka, I'm staying away from trains. Not a good subject. I forgot about Matt Dickey. Maybe something like, Matt Dickey is really a Billiken, take that, Asheville! Don't you wonder sometimes if MD knows anything about his status with the Billikens? And Go see the kids play is a good one. Let's drop the Rican ***** slappin' people who aren't Billiken fans, or maybe Brian Gregory is not our coach.
  14. Is Cyranos still strictly a desert place. Best Sundaes I've ever had.
  15. If KL was playing with this team and had 4 years under RM, we'd probably be undefeated and the talk of the nation. But that's just a hypothetical. I don't think TL had the discipline to play for RM. Just imagine for a minute a lineup with KL and KM at the 1 and the 2 and on the same page. One of the best 2 guard combos in the whole damn land, I'm telling ya!
  16. That's it, Jimbo? Just #7? How about #'s 4, 2, and 10? They weren't bad for an old guy.
  17. Top 10 reasons to be a Billikens fan: 10. Backhand won't ***** slap you 9. The streets still talk to us 8. Brian Gregory is not our HC 7. We made X just another letter in the alphabet 6. You get 20% off on all loudmouth attire 5. You get free tickets to the Jimbo Comedy club 4. We got the Rammer and BANG! you don't 3. Australia and New Zealand will soon become colonies of SLU 2. You won't get Conked 1. RM is not a big Gay guy, just a damn BB genius! Feel free to make changes
  18. Another good recruiting job by RM landing Harriman. Bills make some noise in the dance, he's gonna have fun recruiting the best Aussies to SLU for years to come.
  19. Broy's stuck in the 70's tonight. Must have been that post about the trip down memory lane for all us oldies. And, Broy, you're still just a whipper snapper in the eyes of WP Jim and myself. Heck I'm just a young'un in WP Jim's eyes. Fun season, though, ain't it?
  20. He's definitely been the difference maker this year, but I'd still have to rank KL, the Bellville Beauty, as being the best Billiken of the new millenium. I just feel sorry he never got to experience a season like this during his Billiken tenure.
  21. C'mon, Somona, we only lost to the Carleton Dukes of Canada because of their home court advantage and KM got dinged.
  22. Once DE gets more consistent, he will, and learns to go strong to the hoop every time, he could be very special. Especially if he develops any kind of outside shot.
  23. Best D by a guard had to Fish against D.Wade in every game. Any NBA team that goes deep into the playoffs against D.Wade ought to request SLU send 'em the game tapes of Fish on D. Wade.
  24. And best wishes for RM's speedy recovery.
  25. How about, "Ain't no Stopping us Now". If we're not in after today, Fr. B better call for an investigation of the committee.
