  1. As annoying as Malcolm was at times, I could tolerate him. I find Rene Knott to be completely unwatchable. Seeing Knott's feeble attempts at sportscasting make me wonder if Channel 5 hired him sight unseen.
  2. I'm glad to hear that he gets on your nerves as well; I thought I was the only one. When he first emerged on the scene a few years ago, I enjoyed his reports, but now he's overexposed and full of himself. He's very knowledgeable about the NBA, but his constant YELLING drives me crazy.
  3. Gene Keady? I'm sure the ladies find him to be one sexy son of a *****.
  4. The guys who bbq in the parking lot at PT's also make a mean burger. Or so I've heard.
  5. I agree with you on O'Connell's. It's definitely my favorite burger in town. Sundecker's on Laclede's Landing is another underrated burger joint. I've always thought Blueberry Hill to be way overrated in the burger department. Fun place to eat though.
  6. No pun intended. That was a fun segment, up until the hosts attempted to turn it into an extended commercial for Tony Twist's bar. Apparently Twister is such a great cook, I may have to cancel my reservation at Trattoria Marcella tonight so that I can head out to Imperial. I'm assuming that was your bicep pictured in the "Backyard Beefcake" piece this past weekend? For the record, I think that Fitz's in the Delmar Loop is very underrated, as far as burgers are concerned.
  7. Well, I did get my MBA, which has proved to be just as "beneficial" to my writing career. I was a little concerned that I had chosen the wrong graduate program until I read the article, "Master's in Creative Writing Fails to Yield Master of Creative Writing" in The Onion. Then I didn't feel so bad. I can also go back and get that master's in atmospheric sciences should I get writer's block!
  8. Thank you for the advice. I'm certainly learning that there is a great deal of validity to your statement about the importance of relationships over talent! My background is in marketing communications, and I am beginning to take baby steps into the wonderful world of freelance writing. I'm working with a friend/former co-worker who is a graphic designer, and we're hoping to eventually quit our corporate jobs and form our own communications agency.
  9. Mr. B, I've noticed that you will be speaking at the National Writers Workshop this weekend. Do you think this workshop would be useful to an aspiring young writer (namely, me)?
  10. With the impending coaching change at Purdue, will X. Price still want to go to Purdue (if he gains eligibility)? Will Painter keep Cuonzo Martin on his staff?
  11. Come on, Cheesy. You're better than that. You were on a roll for a while, contributing thoughtful, objective posts about a variety of topics, but now you've let a fun thread degenerate into another SLU/Mizzou thread. Granted, many of the SLU fans here should not care about Mizzou as much as they do, but you were totally baiting the ones that do.
  12. Savvis was almost de-listed, but is starting to rebound. They recently acquired a major competitor and it seems like they are well-positioned for the future. Savvis actually survived the tech burst, unlike many of its competitors.
  13. XU is losing Sato, Chalmers and Myles next season, which probably explains why they aren't ranked. As we Billiken fans know well, when it comes to preseason prognosticating, the press seems to pay more attention to the players a program is losing as opposed to the ones that are still there or are joining the program.
  14. This board is great when the conversations don't involve Mizzou (not blaming you specifically, Cheesy). I'm not sure why nearly every thread has to morph into a SLU vs. Mizzou debate.
  15. Even if you don't agree with his politics, it's still a very entertaining read!
  16. Read Al Franken's book and you might look at the media a little differently.
  17. it was the backflip. Oh, and one of the most memorable home runs in Cardinal history.
  18. Wasn't Jamal Walker Gatorade POY in Kansas his sr. year?
  19. Definitely. And in addition to the four A10 teams who received NCAA bids, Rhode Island had a solid season at 20-14. I don't know if Temple can achieve its former glory under Chaney, but they have had some very good teams fairly recently.
  20. Steve, Kerry paid a visit to The Lou yesterday (including a stop at Chris' Pancake House), here's a recap: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/a..._el_pr/kerry_21
  21. Hopefully his academic issues and homesickness are behind him; sounds like quite a player.
  22. with our last remaining scholarship, but TL does not qualify academically. Who would you want his scholarship to go to?
  23. Until we find out if Tommie has qualified or not, I don't consider it a stupid conversation.
  24. There is a report on ESPN.com that Gene Keady may be leaving Purdue to coach at U. of San Francisco, of all places. If he were to leave, would Xavier Price want to be released from his letter of intent at Purdue so that he could attend SLU? or... If Keady leaves Purdue and Painter is hired to replace him, would Shaw want out at SIU?
