  1. Outstanding game by the Bills. The score doesn't tell the story on this one ... I haven't seen the stats but it was about 17 shots to 4 or 5. The bills must have had possession 85% of the game. Binghampton packed 9-10 players within the final 35-40 yards. It was very clear they were hoping for 1 goal on a counter attack or were perfectly content to get to penalty kicks. Stat wise they had the #1 defense and keeper in the country. Vedad scored the winner about halfway through the first overtime, on a bullet. I don't know how far out as I was on the other end. Vedad played the best I have seen him play ...he still tries to take on too many defenders 1-1 but not as often. It looks like he has learned that movement without the ball will get him more opportunities also. As a team their tight interior passing was fantastic ... a lot of quick give and goes many times in very cramped spaces. John D also played very well ... but ironically was not as accurate on set plays as he has been in the past. Cooper McKee ... the little engine that could ... I love this guy, he wins every close ball. The entire defense was solid ... giving up very few chances and distributing well also. Kevin held the ball to long and got a few passes deflected ... but he seems to have gotten his accuracy back on the long balls. Also a very well officiated game. Binghampton got 2 yellows and could have, probably should have gotten at least 1 more on tackles from behind ... but overall he kept the game clean and made the proper calls. 2. I'm working so I'll have to make the next one ... but if you do get together have a good time Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  3. They did beat Bradley the other night ... How good is Miami of Ohio? not that good does not tell us a lot. You suggest that they won;t even win 8 games ... what are you basing that on? Tell us what you know about the team and why you think that? I'm not being sarcastic ... I really want to know. I don't know right now if you are just spouting off or you are an educated fan with a valid opinion. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  4. Being a Yooper is a way of life ... if you have ever been there in Jan and Feb you will know why. I remember when Van Halen redid California Girls ... there was a version that played a lot on the radio up there called Escanaba Girls. When I went home to Texas and people used to ask me where I was stationed. I used to say ... go to Green Bay and drive straight North for 3 hours. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  5. I too was very impressed with JJ. He has clearly put on some weight, he looked good. Goaltending at SLU? Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  6. I didn't go west much either except to Houghton for Michigan Tech soccer games ... and once to Minnesota. If I remember right they built the Olympic training center soon after I left, I'm not sure where it is located. Still got the buddy with the cottage? Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  7. I hope you are joking ... SLU's needs it's soccer team. Rich wouldn't really go that fa would he? Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  8. Munising is at one end of the Pictured Rocks trail did you go? Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  9. I've never seen Fontbonne play ... but they could probably take Savanah State ... I played on a base team in the USAF that could have beaten them. That game was sad ... If Brad could get a team to keep it's itensity level the same regardless of the score ... we could have won 80-20 Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  10. Wow ... I'm surprised you knew that. I love it up there ... I grew up in Fla, Dallas, and Los Angeles area's. My first base out of Tech school was K.I. Sawyer AFB outside of Marquette. I thought I would hate it and at first I did. I arrived on base on Mar 30th and it snowed every day for 31 days ... I was in culture shock. Now it is one of my favorite places. I've been back hiking a few times last in the summer of 99 ... we go backcountry near Pictured Rocks. It is really beautiful. There has been a lot of growth since I left in 85. Marquette used to be just an old town ... now it is kind of a tourist town. Also the hwy from Esconaba (61 I think) to Marinette/Menominee along Lake Mich used to be mostly open ... It is now mostly beautiful vacation homes. For you deer hunters ... up there you don't need to go wait in the woods ... just pull over you'll get one. Also Batchelor Bob is from the UP (Upper Peninsula of Mich) Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  11. I wanted Marque ... but didn't want to seem greedy ... so I went back and picked my favorite pg ... since that is what I played There are a lot of great guys still looking for a home: Donnie Dobbs Jeff Harris Scott Highmark Marque Clags The list goes on ... We should get some publicity by buying a sponsorship for $10. or $20. each and donating the revenues to the stadium fund Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  12. I agree with the comments about JJ ... but it is so difficult to judge in a game like this. I agrree on Clarke ... this is a game he should have been able to really show what he has. I disagree on his shot ... his rotation is off ... and he looks like he is pushing the ball ... one shot had no rotation at all. Phil stays composed even under pressure ... he will help this year I hope Tom gets well ... we are going to need him Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  13. Northern Michigan is located in Marquette in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I was stationed at K.I. Sawyer AFB about 30 mins away from 82 - 85. I officiated many of their's and Michigan Tech's soccer games. Great backcountry hicking spot up there along Lake Superior called Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Good Hockey program ... won the NCAA Championships in the early 90's. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  14. I'm probably one of the biggest soccer supporters on this board, it is the sport I grew up playing and love ... which sport is "better" that is a matter of opinion. Clearly though in terms of fan interest and revenue created in the USA basketball is far superior ... I hope that there is no one trying to argue that. I love them both ... I would just like to be able to discuss soccer with the rest of the soccer fans without having to skim through, overlook, or read a bunch of negative remarks. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  15. C'mon guys a little good natured arguing or even poking fun at someone is one thing ... but it seems the outright name calling back and forth is getting a little out of hand I know this is not my board so it may not be my place to say ... my intentions aren't to offend or make anyone mad ... I'm just hoping that someone is the better person and lets it go ...it distracts from the board. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  16. Last night he was driving almost all the way ... the worse thing you can do at 6'9" is drive to the basket and then try to flip up some little shot ... when you get there you have to go at the rim. He doesn't. I agree that he needs to have a short 6-8 ft jumper in his arsenal as that will bring the big man out ... and should open up lanes for cutters ... but if you are going to go all the way then go strong. Make the opponents big men defend you not just swat at the shot, you will also get to the line and create foul problems inside for most opponents. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  17. From where I sit ... I don't believe his ankles were the problem ... I'm sure his ankles are sore ... but imo it was his style around the basket that is his flaw. No use continuing this though ... you obviously have your opinion and I have mine. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  18. I'm not 100% sure ... but I would assume you are right. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  19. His problems on the court last night were his hands, and the fact he appears lost on defense. If he was having problems getting to the basket ... ok then ... but he got to the basket he just doesn't finish. He needs to play stronger around the basket ... just my opinion though. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  20. Tx ... I don't hardly ever get to see them play anymore ... just what I can follow on line ... My bro and dad are going tonight and probably the rest of the playoffs. Lamar's current rankings are DMN ... 2nd area behind Southlake Carroll AP ... 3rd in state with The Woodlands ahead of them and Carroll USA Today ... 14th in the country. Losing their starting QB could be huge ... I don't know how good the #2 is. Also Coppell has the revenge thing on their mind after taking a 50 pt loss last year. If you hear a score tonight will you post it. Thanks Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  21. I would have guessed the attendance at 7-7.5k. I thought it was a larger crowd than an opening night of late ... but there was one moment when I dropped a safety pin ... I didn't see where it landed ...but the lady 2 rows up helped me find it, she heard it drop. The Billiken crowds are the quitest I have ever seen at any college sporting event. Maybe they need to announce when the prayer is over, so people will know they don't have to be quiet any longer. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  22. I would have a hard time believing IO's problem was his ankles ... I said in a previous post his problem is he is to cute around the basket ... he is quick enough inside to get wherever he wants ... he just needs to take the ball all the way to the rim, when he has the opportunity. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  23. If I am ever in a basketball game in a dark alley ... I want CS on my side Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  24. Everyone Has made good observations ... so I don't have much to add. Izik does not get all the way to the basket instead of finishing on the rim or glass he tries to be fancy when he's close and keeps releasing his shot from 2-4 feet away. He shoots by flicking his wrist which does not allow for a lot of control ... he needs to get to the rim and his drives will finish ... until then he will remain inconsistent. He is too worried about what Coach thinks ... every play good or bad he looks to the bench for acknowledgement. He is lacking in confidence. Tom was not as agressive on the glass as he was in the last exhibition. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
  25. BillikenTx ... where do you live? ... I graduated HS there at Arlington Lamar ... speaking of football the number 14 school in the USA todays last ranking. They lost their QB for the season in the 1st playoff game last week though. They didn't pass much 8-10 times a game so we will see how much that hurts. They play Coppell at Texas Stadium Sat night. They beat Coppell by about 50 in the playoffs last year so Coppell will be out for revenge. Official Billikens.com sponsor of H. Waldman
