  1. And I don’t think anyone expected the shooting regression from Gibson to date and the drop of play until recently from Okoro. There are things to hold Ford accountable for but Gibson shooting much worse from 3 isn’t one of them. Nor is Okoro’s inability to consistently make a 3 foot shot. Both these are things the players had been good at. Individuals at this level have to be accountable for their own performance
  2. He knows all of this. His post ranks right up there with some of the most absurd posts in a long, long time.
  3. I guess my point is we can’t diagnose it for him, as anything we have figured out, he already has. So the “if” had as much chance of happening as an Alien spaceship dropping a rhinoceros on your roof tonight.
  4. What you said was if we fans have to diagnose his problems. Maybe I misunderstood your meaning but that too me says fans are diagnosing problems Ford wasn’t aware of. Hell, the problems aren’t really hard to diagnose, it’s how to fix it with our current roster. We need Jim, Perk, and now Parker to shoot the ball to their capabilities. We have to out score our defensive liabilities. I think Coach thought we would. Hell, he bet on it. I doubt he thought Jim would not just drop off shooting wise but literally fall off. I think he thought he could live with our inside game believing the 2nd half Okoro would be the one we’d have all year. I think he thought Oerkins would be back to the Perk of old sooner. So far all those 3 were misjudged. Honestly, I thought all the same things
  5. “If we fans have to solve his problems” Is this a joke? 99.99% of fans including me couldn’t even begin to coach a D1 game. Do you actually believe you can point out a problem he doesn’t already know he exists? RM stated numerous times was he wanted players that had won and would do anything to win. He recruited players that were maybe a little under the radar and lacked elite athleticism, but made up for it by out working and out learning everyone else. At this level a coach shouldn’t have to “motivate” players. If a player at SLU needs the coach to motivate him, we have the wrong player. Imo this is where Coach Ford has gone wrong. There are times when you can see us standing around or just letting a player out hustle them to a loose ball. We have too many players that don’t have that I’d rather die than lose mentality and NO coach can give it to a player. It comes from within. MBM’s keep talking about offenses and tactics believing that just because whatever is being done isn’t working, whatever you thought should have been done would have worked. You have no clue whether your idea would have worked but hey you keep spouting it on a message board. The majority of our losses this year have come from players not playing up to the level they have played in the past. Jim shooting considerably worse than the rest of his career, Okoro not making shots from 3 feet over and over are examples of 2 starters. That’s not on the coach, that’s on Jim and Okoro. You can look at the shooting percentages in most losses, it’s pretty clear why we lost. It’s also pretty clear that holding a player accountable doesn’t fit the agenda of many posters so except for stupid comments in game day threads it rarely happens. What is on the coach is assembling a team with no inside depth leaving us overly reliant on outside shooters who until lately haven’t done the job and too many guards that can’t contain their man on D. We have what we thought would be our 2 best scorers who can’t contain their man defensively. This makes us overly susceptible to drives which requires we help more and then we get too deep to close out on 3 point shooters. We don’t have enough of an inside presence to stop those drives without cheating. The only guard including Yuri who had done a good job of containing their man was Fred and he’s out. Perkins, Pickett, and Jim don’t have good lateral quickness and they close out too slow. This is imo just bad roster construction. Yuri and TJ should be better than they have been. Getting in the lane vs the Bills has just been far too easy and we haven’t shot well enough to overcome it until lately.
  6. And if they ever decide to have a “Put a di.khead in charge day” Coach Ford should get worried as you seem like an obvious choice. However, until then, no one cares
  7. I don’t understand how the investigation of something that happened 30+ years ago with an 18 year old plays into the decision. Make the decision based upon your belief of the current Reyna situation and your belief in his ability as a coach.
  8. I saw that yesterday. I’m wondering if it was his choice? Doesn’t sound like it though
  9. I tried to find video of him in college but couldnt
  10. Thanks for continuing to provide these updates on both the men’s and the women’s teams.
  11. You are probably right and my love of college basketball will be slip sliding away. Makes me sad
  12. And for a little perspective for those who think Yuri is a turnover machine Season 1 10.7 apg. / 4.3 tog / 2.66 ratio Season 2 13.3 apg / 5.7 tog / 2.3 ratio Yuri 10.6 apg / 3.3 tog / 3.18 ratio Avery wasn’t a big scorer either avg 7.1 and 11.4 ppg in his 2 seasons
  13. I highly doubt road rash was your last case of a rash
  14. How do you shoot 24 shots and only hit 4? Seriously is this possible? Even if you take away the 1-8 from 3 she was 3-16 from 2. Add to that 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 3 turnovers and just 2-2 from the line. Is it harder to go 4-24 or play 33 minutes and not have 1 rebound fall into your hands?
  15. He is alive. He works at the 7-Eleven at 55 and Virginia I believe. He’s looking pretty old, but it’s definitely him
  16. Why should it be outlawed. It’s really no different than any other screen.
  17. I agree he went down easy, however, I don’t agree that he didn’t have time or space. He only needs time to stop or avoid the screen. Whether he sees it or recognizes it early enough is irrelevant. Imo he had time to avoid the contact, but I don’t think he knocked the guy down so no call. Someone mentioned that the guy wasn’t trying to catch a pass or anything. That’s also irrelevant. The screen is set to make space for a player either with or without the ball. The screen was legal. The only question for me was did the guy get knocked down or did he just go down. Hard to be 100% certain but I agree with the no call.
  18. Is he supposed to be immune to criticism when he’s playing poorly? Anyone else off limits?
  19. Spot on. Without at least Okoro and GJim playing to the levels they’ve played in the past we have no chance to win the A10 tourney. Without Perkins playing well we may have a slight chance, get hot, go on a run. With Perkins, I think we have a good chance. We have to play all 3 and find a way to help them find their game. If anyone on here was told before the season Perkins would still be struggling, GJim would be averaging 13 ppg on 40/35 shooting percentages and Okoro would be at 6.3 ppg. No one would say we could still win the A10. Probably not even top 4 or 5.
  20. For that run to happen we need GJim, Okoro, and Perkins or someone stepping up to at least get close to what we thought Perkins would be giving us. We will not make a run with a 6.3 ppg Okoro and 13 ppg GJim with 35% from 3 and 40% from the field
