  1. Don't confuse anyone by writing about #10 hitting 3-pt shots and other than that KL did a good job on him. On both 3- pt shots he was being guarded (and I use that term loosely) by D. Polk.
  2. We'll soon find out. Don't they play St. Joe this week? Bills over C St. by 26.
  3. How in the name of g@* could it be an accident coming from 30 rows back to 15 feet onto the court. It was clearly thrown not "accidently dropped". By the way why didn't we call a timeout at the stoppage of play with .8 sec left in the half, so that we could insure no mistakes at that point. What a difference it would have been to go to the lockerroom up by 4 after forcing a tie up in play rather than up by 1 after clearly blowing the last .8 sec defense. It was a complete shift in momentum. Finally, why do we start just about every game/second half in a non-scoring funk? Are they too tight coming out, looking for the perfect shot and afraid to make a mistake. We have to stop conceding the first 3-5 minutes of each half and score at a better than a point a minute pace.
  4. Need to add Billiphan to that list.
  5. Broy, how did you happen upon her e-mail address since she is the only person listed in the SLU Official Website Athletics Directory who does NOT list an e-mail address?
  6. Billies, congratulations. Eight post into your membership on Billikens.com you are already a member of the small, but ever growing, group who think "lose" is spelled "loose". Way to go!
  7. At least the last 2 games, but it seems like quite a few times, we are coming out from halftime not ready to play. Whatever Brad is saying in the locker room, he needs to take a different approach. Tough night at Oakland at the line with 2 of our better FT shooters, TL and DB, not having a good night. We have to do better at the line if we want to do well in close games.
  8. Taj, as someone posted a day or two ago---this is not a Vashon Message Board and frankly I could give a rat's a$$ about questions regarding the "V" factory. I'm more concerned about the fact you mentioned regarding DP not being a reliable free throw shooter, something you MUST have in your PG. At the end of a close game I'd go with DB, TL, KL and LM with IV or JJ as the "big". Too early to tell for sure but my first impression is that DP is better than last year at the FT line, but still not who I want there in the final few minutes.
  9. I have not said they should hold a press conf. AND ANNOUNCE A SPECIFIC DATE.. I am just simply saying that they have in fact made the decision to build the Arena-if they hadn't made that decision they would not be running promos saying Groundbreaking in 2006. Since that decision has in fact been made why don't they announce it the normal way instead of playing around with us like we have to raise more $$$ or the Arena wouldn't be built. Just be upfront and honest with us. If we need $XXX to fully fund it and that will likely mean some form of "PSLs" fine just say so. But don't treat us like we are too stupid to know that the decision has been made, and if it hasn't then put the word "projected" in front of "Groundbreaking". Sorry to be a jerk over this , but I do not like to feel that someone is playing games with me.
  10. I can't seem to make my point understandable. The average fan should already know that this is a done deal, otherwise we wouldn't be watching "Groundbreaking 2006" promos. If just knowing that it is going to happen for a certainty is going to dry up average fan contributions, then that well should now be dry. I don't happen to agree that that's the case. I believe that many "average fans" (season ticket holders) are holding back on their donations until it is known what impact those donations will have on seat location. I know this to be a fact since I am one of a group waiting for just that information before making my (our) contribution(s). It is amazing that that information is not yet available, but in the game of chicken and the egg (information or donation first) we prefer to hold our cards until they show theirs. It should be simple, and it only seems fair that we know how to make our donation so as to maximize our seating priority. So far all we have are generalities.
  11. And if they don't come through what happens? Do we fold our tent and go home? No, my point is, SLU has already decided that the Arena is going to be built and that we will break ground next year. Otherwise we wouldn't be seeing "Groundbreaking 2006" promos featuring the SLU President. Therefore, MAKE THE FRIGGIN ANNOUNCEMENT or change the promo to say, "If we get enough$$$ we'll break ground in 2006".
  12. You are correct. It just says groundbreaking 2006. As many times as I have seen it I never interpreted it as asking for contributions, but having just watched it again I guess that's what it is intended for--very, very subtle. But after watching it again I repeat my main point---I don't see how we can NOT break ground next year w/o Fr. B having to eat a whole lot of humble pie and I know enough about Jesuits to know they don't do that. CL and Fr. B, go ahead and schedule the news conference
  13. A bad season by JJ and we still surpass the 9 Ws of last year! However, I am expecting a good year for him.
  14. Why is it that we run a promo at each home game which ends with a statement that Groundbreaking for the new arena will be Fall 2006 (I think that's the correct date)? I even saw the ad run on ESPN2 during the UNC game-it begins with Fr. B on the steps of College Church clapping his hands. Yet with all this high profile public disclosure we have not had an "official announcement". What are we waiting for? If we want a big donor to think we need his/her $$$ b$ breaking ground then why have we already told the world when that ground breaking will be. Hard to turn back when you have the SLU President in the "unofficial announcement" promo!
  15. Broy, actually you did NOT spell it right.
  16. As I said, some calls have been questionable, but many are very clearly Billikens out of control near the basket. I know we're young, but these guys have played a lot of basketball and even younger players know what a charging foul is and that you'll get very few called against you if you are playing under control. Hey this isn't the biggest deal in the world just a "Random thought".
  17. I was certainly too negative on Ian last year, but he still needs to concentrate on holding the ball tighter. Given his overall improvement that shouldn't be too much for him work on. You gotta give him credit for working hard to get in much better shape. (Broy, I think you inspired him) When did BS, or one of his assistants, tell D. Brown that he was our goto guy? When are we going to eliminate the blatant charging fouls? Some calls have been questionable, but too often we have been out of control. We are not good enough to turn the ball over that way 3-4 times a game. (DB, KL and AD) Who would you rather be a fan of, a team whose coach can't coach and who lost at Davidson by 9 or a team whose coach always has his team well-prepared and who lost at UNC by a misleading 12 pts? We aren't the only ones who would pick the latter. If you listen to the call-in shows and read certain Message Boards fans of State U. would pick the same team as Billikens.Com members. Why is it that we have trouble spelling our recruits last names? Last year it was TL's last name, this year it's Dustin's. It's Liddell and Maguire. We owe them the common courtesy of spelling their names correctly. I know it's a message board, but let's assume they read it, and the least we can do is know how to spell their names. Whatever AD did to improve his 3 pt shot let's hope he continues to do it and while he's at it can he help DP regain his outside shot? It seems that Brad's chat with JJ was very effective. Should DB be next on the couch? It was nice to see JJ concentrating on eliminating the careless passes. With as well as AD is shooting, defending and leading this young team, I feel bad asking for one more thing, BUT Anthony can you please eliminate the couple of times each game you play out of control-usually while under the basket. Since Roy W. scheduled this series so TH could play in his home area what happens if Tyler decides to go pro next year?
  18. That's quite a description of our only recruit for next year. Let,s hope a better than expected year will allow BS to get some real impact players to join TL and KL next year.
  19. Bryce will be alright. As a redshirt Soph he is able to give us up to 10 minutes a game against most teams-not bad for a still developing 7 footer. Also he has the better part of 3 yrs to continue to improve. I think he is just what Brad thought he'd be-a servicable 3 yr. backup to Ian who should be able to start, if needed, his Sr year. If Brad is able to recruit a better "5" by 2 years from now then BH will, at a minimum, be an above average backup center his last year. For the tough to recruit big men, that's not a bad scenario. We've done much worse with easier to recruit guards.
  20. I amend my earlier post. I didn't know at the time that Horner was likely to miss our game. If so, then I would rate Iowa as a tossup and I'm still scared of Oakland, there. I think we can win, but I think we really need to play a very good game-not like we played the last 30 minutes of Jackson St. or against SIU.
  21. Looking ahead to next year is probably a little silly at this point, but I find myself doing it also. It might have something to do with having a better than projected team this year with some very young players. My one concern for us to be a NCAA tourny team next year is outside shooting. As I posted elsewhere this morning, I am concerned by DM's performance at the Shootout-not just his lack of scoring but more importantly his lack of effort on Defense. If that's his game then he is NOT the answer as our deep threat next year. Hell, he won't even be in the game if he won't or can't defend. What concerns me is that we appear to have invested all our chips in him as the outside shooter in next year's recruiting class, and plan on using our remaining scholarships for big men. Since AD is currently our most effective threat from 3-land and he is gone next year, I think we need to bring in a real shooter who can contribute immediately-even if that means JUCO. ( By the way, I think we will also miss AD's fire and leadership next year) Just think how good we would be this year with a Clagett/Highmark/Waldman type 3-point shooter and the same goes for next year. I do look for KL to be a better shooter as he gets more comfortable and hope DP regains his "V" touch, but another really, really good marksman could do big things for the Bills and if DM isn't that man then go get one Brad.
  22. Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. I drink the Kool-Aid as much as anybody, but if you are looking for Ws against the Zags and Iowa I expect you to be in for a disappointment. I just want us to be competitve against those two and hopefully steal a win against Oakland. That one really scares me-a better than good, no-name team, on the road, possibly having a letdown after a great effort on the home court of one of the Big Boys of NCAA basketball. I'd be VERY happy with a win at Oakland.
  23. If we do get our refs next year then I hope the idiots who worked the Jackson State game are not "our refs". They were a joke and Brad needs to do whatever necessary to make sure we never pay them to work another home non-conf game. I sure hope they were not A-10 officials!
