I mean he was terrible last night outside of the first 10 minutes. He'll be perfectly fine but he was bad yesterday

Watched Kim English's presser. He wasn't very complimentary or concerned about GJ and wasn't shy about saying it. Thought that was interesting. Basically close out and get a hand up and an athlete can guard him and he isn't effective. Good bulletin board material if we see them again this season.

If Javonte comes back next year, we are top 25 at least. Imo if we have Javonte this year we are top 25, but not having him this year has allowed GJim to really take a step forward and I think Nesbit will to before the year is up.

Even with JP we aren't very big. That was going to be an issue with him i the lineup this year also. He is a great player but I think Dayton exposed our vulnerability to athletic size.  I still would like to see us hit the transfer portal and find an A10 level serviceable power forward.

I am glad Coach Ford is being realistic unlike some fans.

That's about what it takes to win the league with the 18 game schedule, 15-16 wins. If we were to do that it would mean winning some tough road games and putting us squarely in the at large conversation. However, it is unlikley we get an 18 game schedule.

  4. I think TF is a good fit for SLU. Can we do better? Maybe. But we can do a lot worse. I still think if you look at his last 12 months his luck has been terrible. Last year's Covid shutdown, followed by the death of FS, and the JP injury. That is a lot to overcome emotionally. The A-10 is a league that can be won with talent and average coaching and a little luck. we have 2 of the 3  and the last has been a big negative. Just average luck and i think we will be just fine.

  5. Over the last 12 months we have had one of the longest COVID pauses of any team in the country, had the devestating loss of an assistant coach who was also a family member and former player, and the late injury of what was expected to be our best player and conference POY. His players NEVER quit on him, play extremely hard, and his teams get better as the year wears on.

I would argue he has had about as bad as luck as a coach could have and he is here working his a$$ off.

    This topic is ludicrous.

Just got an email from SLU to "help break the Hermann Stadium Attendance Record"  Out of curiosity, is that something you can "pay at the door."  Thanks

At the games I have been too this year (4), yes. Last Sunday, I jumped on Ticketmaster as I was walking in to avoid any line.

Lorentsson can fill that slot.  Next year after two years in the program, with with maturity and weight training, I can see him being a huge factor as a big with 3pt range.  The roster SLU published has him at 6'8" and 240 lbs.

SLU could also go (like many of the great Villanova teams) with a big and several very athletic 6'-4" to 6'6" slashers/shooters.  Love that style of play.

That's Linssen. The Swede is listed at 215 lbs.

the nfl is gonna settle.   no way the likes of jerry jones or kroenke will let the public know their financials.   the telling factor is the judge demanded goedell give up his personal financials as well.   he's included.   i.e. the collusion must be very obvious.

it would be nice if St Louis got enough money to pay off the dome and the soccer stadium and then was awarded an NFL franchise with no upfront fee for an owner of st louis choice.   that would do more good for the metro area than anything.   watch the st louis politicians get their fingers in it though and steal this money for "the good of the people".

if there is a way for st louis to f something up they will do it.  let's see how fast st louis can burn through $1 billion.

How any settlement proceeds will be spent will be the most interesting thing out of all of this. I thought the city of Saint Louis was already getting getting one of the largest amounts as part of the latest fiscal stimulus package? Something like $450 million? Add another half a billion+ on top of that and there could be a lot of money sloshing around the city.

yup... Chicago/Midwest guy going down to Norman doesn't make too much sense to me... There's no Nebraska, Northwestern, Wake Forest, or BC in that league. Yes Iowa State and KState were garbage this year, but both of those programs are traditionally pretty darn good. The only team with no winning history is TCU with a coach that has coached in 24 NCAA tournament games at exactly .500. So when playing TCU and Jaime Dixon is your off night - good luck.

I could see Moser at Notre Dame. Not sure how much longer Brey wants to coach though.

  10. Thanks Wiz. Very appreciative of the work you put into this. Is the 4 points the neutral court factor or did the margin of victory yesterday for UMass give them a bump? Or both? Just curious. UMass has such a limited body of work I assume their numbers are more volatile.

I have been to the last two games. My regular season tickets are in 115. It seems they are somewhat "randomly" assigning people to seats on a game by game basis to spread people out. Saturday I was up in the 200's and last night I was in 110 behind the basket. I wonder if their plans are to continue inviting the same season ticket holders or rotate the list at all. This afternoon I got an email about tickets to next Tuesday's La Salle game. After La Salle there are only two more home games. Of course there could be additional postponements or reschedules.

I have been to the last two also and have had different seats for each. I have yet another location for tonight's game. My usual tix are also in 115 and I have been consistently in the middle rows in the 200's. It also appears that they are keeping a pretty good "DMZ" around the court with nobody sitting too close to it. Last game I was in 215 and had a video board (I assume for the TV broadcast) right in front of me.

  12. Thanks Wiz. Great stuff. Realizing the sample sizes are still small and the number of games played are all over the place, Haslam has us as the #2 offense/defense (efficiency) and team ITN and a #2 seed in their bracketology. They also have us beating every team in the country on a neutral floor except Gonzaga. Heady stuff for sure.

Just saw this in other thread. My bad.

  13. Thanks Wiz. Really appreciate the time you put into this and the info you provide. Is our soft schedule going to hurt us at some point from a pure quant perspective?  I know enough games haven’t been played to slot everybody yet but our numbers are all over the place between Massey, Kenpom, Warren Nolan, etc. I saw we dropped 21 spots last night on WN’s real time RPI.
I feel like if we take care of business we will pass the eye test but I worry how soft the schedule is.
