There were amazing amount of weird bounces off the rim causing some missed RBs too.

That was my take as well.  It seemed like quite a few times the ball flew off the rim out 10 or so feet which eliminated anyone near the basket getting the rebound.

Santa Clara 2 Arkansas 0. Entertaining game, well played by Santa Clara. Arkansas opened well, high pressure On Santa Clara’s backs and it created turnovers and opportunites. But they couldn’t get a score. Once Santa Clara settled down, they withstood the pressure and created lots of open space in the middle of the field. And Santa Clara was the better team after that. Good defending, good possession, and build up. Got one before half time and one late to be the difference against a good, high scoring, Arkansas team. Arkansas pushed for an equalizer late.

Julie Doyle hadba great gamenfor Santa Clara, and, she created both goals:

College football plays DOZENs of meaningless Bowl Games that they hype up a ridiculous amount and that fans travel all over the country to watch in person.  They make these Bowl Games themselves events & the winner doesn't really matter.  Why shouldn't basketball have something similar with multiple postseason tournaments?  The old NIT before NCAA took over, IMO, was way better because they understood it was a showcase and not really a tournament to determine the winner of anything.  They didn't necessarily care about quality of teams / seeding and intentionally set up regional rivalries in the early rounds.  IMO the NIT should get back to that.

I really hate to say this, but realistically SLU is never going to win a national championship or at the very least the odds are miniscule.  Gonzaga has a chance this year, but the last non Power conference team to win it was UNLV over 30 years ago and they were cheating their asses off.  I don't root for SLU or watch games because I think they'll win a national title.  I understand that there is more hype & I definitely get more excited about NCAA games, but most importantly I just like to watch SLU basketball games.  Being in the NIT provides at least one opportunity to do that and put off the dreaded offseason content on this board for a little while.  Therefore, I'm all in on the NIT at this point.

At the start of the season, we were the best team in A-10...during most of the season we were the best team in the A-10....we are the best team in the A-10 now...that isn't me talking...that is what the numbers are showing.   Finishing 4th in a conference where no team played the same amount of games or even played one another, is good enough..... Meaning,  winning the conference this year is less important....which also means the seeding on the tourney is screwed up too. To finish in the top 2 , especially if the other team is the "home" team, will also be good enough.  My model is very close to the net tool ....however, one thing mine is missing,  is the category of subjective...which can be as high as 15%.  The Net tool is much more transparent than models from previous years...BUT... there is this subjective cloud that is used for "corrective" purposes.  "Corrective" usually spells doom for mid majors, however I think this year at least part of the cloud will be used to fix Covid injustices. The NCAA is looking for "deserving " teams.   I think if we win 3 games,  part of that cloud may float our way.   Also, this is a team of momentum...3 wins would not be that difficult to turn into 4 wins  just on the energy alone.

    You gotta Bill-ieve.

If we win 3 games, we will be back to Xmas eve ...our previous peak.....and that might mean another month of Bills basketball.

If we win three games we will be an automatic qualifier.

  6. I posted this in the A-10 thread.  Here is my attempt at the math involved.

Taking the current number of games of each team and adding 4 games to each, except where the total would be more than 18, the total games that may be played by league teams is 198.  Some teams have less than 4 remaining games, so the median could actually be lower.  Using this number of games, the median of the possible games played is 15.  60% of 15 is 9.

  7. You might check my math, but here goes.

Yes he is very important but he played in the Ole Miss game were the CoMo team got blown out.

After they beat Alabama I finally conceded team CoMo was 3 or 4 seed in the NCAA tournament but at 6-6 in the SEC and 3 consecutive losses are on their way out of the top 25.

Mark Smith, Pinson, and Brown are too inconsistent.  They are love them hate them players.

Team CoMo still has some nice Q1 wins and will probably make it to the NCAA for their traditional game 1 loss.

It will be interesting when they play LSU, or, blue font, will they dodge them again.

Missouri does not play LSU in the rest of the regular schedule.  Their original game was canceled.  They could meet them in the SEC tournament.
