  1. Let's put it in perspective. Monroe Douglass Jr. and Vaughn West have also "heard" from the Billikens in the last 6 months. But if a school hasn't invited you to campus to discuss your possible future with the program, an offer is not forthcoming.
  2. That certainly explains why he hasn't gotten any offers at all. He's more up and down than the Dow Jones average but I was wondering why he hadn't gotten an offer from the likes of SMS or Bradley. I've read that the Burns kid SLU has offered is transferring from Milwaukee Custer to Laurinburg Institute in North Carolina. With Creighton, Depaul and Iowa State also offering, this is going to be a very competitve recruitment.
  3. I really don't see Aaron Jackson getting a scholarship offer, Nate. Aaron's inconsistency would drive Coach Soderberg crazy.
  4. Let's say that Matt becomes a Billiken and plays 25 min a game at some point in his career. If we needed a big wing in some games for matchup purposes, I think Matt could hold his own if he had to play 9-10 min out there.
  5. Matt doesn't have the experience defending the 3 that Sloan did in high school but he has a good mid-range jump shot and can put the ball on the floor and draw contact. These thoughts came to mind when I read the KFNS interview thread and learned that Brad is looking for guys who can play on the perimeter. Matt's best position is power forward but he won't hurt you at the three if he plays limited minutes there.
  6. We don't know where Ricky and Jessica ate out or how much the meals cost. But Boone County is a small place. About two weeks of investigation ought to turn up that information.
  7. This kid has been listed as one of the top 5 players in Wisconsin's 2004 class for 2 years now, Wisconsin's deepest class in many years. I've read on Badgerboard and elsewhere that there may be grade issues.
  8. Wise man once say -- if you can't outjump 'em, beat the hell out of 'em.
  9. UAB's non-conference schedule doesn't look too hot either. Home South Alabama Georgia Southern Louisiana Tech Richmond Middle Tennessee Western Michigan *(if its Mobile, its prolly 12/15) Birmingham SOuthern Road VCU (12/18) LSU (12/27) Mississippi State Cinci and UAB better do well in conference play because their RPIs before that are going to be kinda shaky.
  10. I understand your sentiment but there are an awful lot of 6'4/6'5 who haven't verballed. It's not really necessary to rush into anything. A really good player will slip to us in the next month or so if we just stand pat, IMO. The problem with Romar is he kept recruiting kids we had no chance of getting right up until the fall signing period.
  11. The Meyers are in love with Stanford. I think Luke getting an athletic scholarship is a long shot but he certainly has the grades to get accepted. I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to walk on. Just in case anybody's wondering, the next time Tommie Liddell can take the ACT is Sept 27.
  12. Have you ever heard of a high school booster club that meets in the summertime?
  13. Wild guess at minutes breakdown: Fisher 30 Bryant 32 Ohanon 26 Sloan 26 Frericks 28 Morris 16 Drejaj 16 JJ 12 Vouyoukas 14 I know it seems like I'm picking on Drejaj but here's my reasoning. I'm assuming that Fish is ready to step up this year and will be the starter at the point and spot Ohanon at the 3. Also, Brad specifically signed Morris to play point. Therefore Drejaj will get the his minutes at the 2. But Reggie Bryant is the heir apparent to Marque at the 2 so Drejaj will get backup minutes. Drejaj should pick up a few more minutes at the 2 when Bryant slides over to the 3 in three-guard sets. But that still doesn't amount to more than 15-16 min total, IMO.
  14. Varner doesn't even play pick up games anymore. I'd be shocked if he gets more than mop up duty this year. McClain hasn't shown that he can get through a week of practice without breaking down. I commend the young man for sticking to his studies but I believe his college basketball career is over. So that leaves a nine man rotation of: Fisher Bryant Ohanon Sloan Frericks Morris Drejaj JJ Vouyoukas I'll go out on a limb and say Clarke will beat out Drejaj by the end of the year.
  15. That's how I read it too, kshoe. Bunge never fingered Lane Odom as the money-giver in her deposition or in the Post Dispatch interview. However, if anybody on the coaching staff knew where the money came from it would be Odom, since he was Clemons' principal mentor. That's the line of questioning Crane should have followed, instead of accusing Odom directly.
  16. He's still the same scrappy, athletic 6-6 1/2 power forward that he was 6 months ago. Not that I'm complaining.
  17. Great idea, Steve. I'd be perfectly content with stat pages for current team members only.
  18. You need a dominant player to make hay in the Big Dance. But I'd be ecstatic if the Bills just had a season that made them worthy of an invite. Teams such as Dayton, Utah and LSU won a lot of ball games last year without a dominant player so we know it can be done.
  19. I agree that Fish has the ability to average double digits. Unfortunately, he had that ability two years ago as well. He just doesn't seem to have a scoring mentality -- Fish only looks to score when nobody on the team can/will do it. Contrast with Bryant, Izik and Drejaj who almost always look for their shot first.
  20. Chris Sloan = Billiken version of Bobby Jones
  21. I would always be worried about Dennard staying eligible. Got to go with the honor roll student from Centralia.
  22. Have to disagree Roy. Matt was throwing down alley-oop dunks in games as a sophomore. He's plenty athletic.
  23. I think the added mass is really going to help JJ because he is an active inside player and will be bumping against some big bodies. The added mass will also help Bryant because he has the ability to get to the basket and will need to absorb the contact. If Luke Meyer comes here, I suspect he will be a shredded a 220 lb before his 4 years is done. He's a muscular 6'5 200 lb already and his dad told me Luke has never lifted a weight a weight in his life.
  24. I wouldn't call Shaw a Sloan clone. I'd call him a Luke Whitehead clone. Both players are about the same size and have very similar games. Shaw's a much better free throw shooter, though.
  25. There's still a remote chance Shaw could will himself to grow another inch by November. It could happen - the kid has done everything else you can do to get a scholarship offer.
