  1. Every school has its own requirements regarding juco courses. Just because all of a kid's credits transfer to Wisc-Green Bay, doesn't mean they will all transfer to a SLU or a Creighton or a Butler. A student may have to take an additional course or two to obtain enough transferrable credit.
  2. I'm happy that the young man will not have his college basketball hopes dashed because of one juco class. The more I think about it, I wonder if Morris just had second thoughts and took the easy way out. If I learned I could go play basketball at another school that didn't require me to burn 8 weeks of my summer doing course work, I might stop going to class. Not saying that's definitely what happened but it's plausible.
  3. I read somewhere that Sean Dockery got into Duke with a 2.5 GPA and a 17 on his ACT. This is the same school that routinely rejects non-athletes with a 3.6 GPA and a 28 on the ACT. A disparity that large is simply unacceptable.
  4. Terry hasn't been able to play for more than 2 weeks at a time since having his knee scoped almost 8 months ago. Something isn't right.
  5. I'm going from memory here, but the average student at SLU is in the top 10% of his class in high school and got a 25 on the ACT. Is it really asking too much for our basketball recruits to graduate in the top 1/3 of their class and get an 18 on the ACT?
  6. "I simply wanted to say, Thank you." No Steve, thank YOU. This is best board on the Internet, bar none.
  7. Wow. Rotation for the first 3 games: PG Fish/Drejaj/Clarke SG Drejaj/Clarke SF Ohanon/Clarke PF Sloan/JJ C Frericks/JJ/Varner
  8. I'm surprised it took this long for Floyd to withdraw from the program. I was kinda expecting him to move on back in May so could latch on with a NAIA team and finish out his career. I really feel bad for Brandon Morris. One stinking course. If only he would gone to Southern Idado.
  9. I doubt Coach has made a decision on whether Husak will be redshirted before seeing him practice. I don't think Husak should be redshirted because he is a "stiff", I think he should be redshirted because he's competing with Frericks, Vouyoukas, Sloan and JJ for playing time. Wny waste a year of his eligibility when he's most likely the fifth option in the frontcourt?
  10. From what I've seen, Reggie Bryant is quicker with the ball than anyone else on the roster.
  11. Dan Coleman has announced his attention to transfer to Minnesota. I really hope pdiddy's report isn't true. If it is, this is an opportunity for Polk to see significant minutes next year and for the staff to pick up a Reggie Bryant-like transfer in the spring.
  12. The MVC should be stronger top to bottom than they were last year. Bottom feeder teams like UNI and Illinois St. have really brought in some surprising talent.
  13. That would be a very good road win if we can get it. The Blazers should be one of the top five teams in the league this year. We'll match up better now that Izik gets to play his true position.
  14. They did a very job, especially Fisher, of protecting the ball. They were not adept at driving and dishing.
  15. According to the Journal Sentinel Online archives, Brandon Morris averaged over 7 assists a game in both his junior and senior years of high school and was one of the better defensive guards in the Milwaukee area. I'm looking forward to his playmaking contributions.
  16. Ricky Clemons acquired 24 credits in 8 weeks. Producing a receipt or a material witness ought to be child's play
  17. Quin is the head of the basketball program and is therefore responsible for what goes on. Quin claims that he and particularly Lane Odom were Ricky's mentors. If even half of what Ricky is being accused of is true, they can't just use the "I wasn't conscious" defense. It's their business to know.
  18. http://www.tigerboard.com/boards/display.php?message=926266 "Mizzou. Dave Armstrong just reported this. According to an FBI source, Clemons is apparently trying to extort money from MU over all the Bunge allegations. More details to come on 1340 AM" As usual, Mizzou supporters are theorizing that this scenario, if true, will exonerate the Tigers and Mizzou critics are theorizing that it will implicate the Tigers.
  19. http://www.covers.com/includes/articles.asp?theArt=5285 After jumping out to a 10-1 SU and 6-2 ATS starts to the season, the Missouri Tigers cooled off, going a mediocre 11-9 ATS on the backstretch.
  20. http://espn.go.com/ncb/news/2003/0819/1599187.html Excerpt: Boone County authorities have given the FBI more than two dozen hours of recorded jailhouse phone conversations of former Missouri basketball player Ricky Clemons, Sheriff Ted Boehm said Tuesday. The FBI declined to comment about why it gathered the phone recordings and incoming mail for Clemons, who is serving a 60-day sentence after pleading guilty to false imprisonment of his former girlfriend. The NCAA is separately investigating allegations made by the former girlfriend, Jessica Bunge, that Clemons received cash and clothing and cheated on exams while playing for Missouri. "I can confirm that we provided the FBI with the phone recordings and the mail of Ricky Clemons,'' Boehm told The Associated Press. Boehm's comments were the first law enforcement acknowledgment of the FBI's interest in Clemons, who was kicked off the basketball team and had his athletic scholarship revoked in July after a judge ordered him to jail. Clemons, who has been incarcerated since mid-July, is scheduled to be released Sunday. He will remain on probation. Clemons' attorney, Wally Bley, said he was unaware the FBI had any interest in his client. "How many more twists can this sordid tale take?'' Bley said. Clemons is declining all interview requests, Bley said.
  21. > Undecided > At West Virginia ... on the road early They don't defend well at all. And Drew Schifino accounts for over 30% of their offense. They're definitely vulnerable. > At Georgia Tech ... I don't know anything about them They lost their leading scoring, rebounder and shotblocker, Chris Bosh, to the draft. They've got a number of run-and-jump athletes returning, however, and those kinds of teams always gives us trouble. > Butler ... what do they have returning ? Three of their top four scorers graduated and each of those guys played at least 30 minutes a game. This should be a rebuilding year. Hopefully Josh, Izik and Sloan will take this game personally after the way we got spanked last season. > At Dayton ... On the road ... are they losing a lot ? Leading scorer Brooks Hall and sixth man enforcer Nate Green are gone but everyone else of consequence is back. Their frontcourt is very good with All-Conference selection Keith Waleskowski and 6-11 center Sean Finn. Should be another hard-fought game.
  22. http://www.thesouthern.com/rednews/2003/08...rts/SPO003.html Shaw said Monday that he had narrowed his choices to SIU, Creighton, Stanford, Saint Louis and Illinois State, thus reducing the throng of mail and phone calls at the Shaw household. A verbal commitment and a national letter-of-intent signing on his part will likely happen before the prep season starts. "They're pretty even right now," said Shaw, who has plans to visit each school and will come to Carbondale last. Shaw was happy to see Matt Painter handed the Saluki reins and has, well, just seen a lot of Painter lately. "He's probably recruited me hardest out of anybody so far," said Shaw, who averaged 18 points, nine rebounds and two assists per game as a junior.
  23. Nothing personal, but could you post WITHOUT mentioning Crean or his recruits? You know how much that irritates Roy :-)
  24. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/prep/dec02/102174.asp There was no stopping Milwaukee Custer boys basketball player Draelon Burns on Saturday. The junior scored 39 points - 25 in the second half - to lead the Cougars to a 78-73 non-conference victory at Greenfield. http://www.dukeupdate.com/Rob_C/20030526_TOC.htm The Milwaukee team had a scoring machine guard named Draelon Burns; if the local coaches don't have him on their speed dial, they need to catch up http://www.jsonline.com/sports/prep/jul03/159099.asp Milwaukee Custer senior Draelon Burns made the all-tournament team at the adidas Big Time basketball tournament held last weekend in Las Vegas. Burns, a first-team all-area selection by the Journal Sentinel in 2003, averaged 21.2 points per game for the Runnin' Rebels http://www.jsonline.com/sports/Prep/mar03/122481.asp The most drastic enhancement in Burns' play has been the ability to consistently score from 12 to 15 feet from the basket. "His midrange jump shot has (become) a lot better," Mitchell said. "He's pulling up in the lane, and he can hit the midrange shot, which a lot of kids can't do. That's a hard shot to make."
