  1. We've got three scholarships to give to the 2005 class if our staff lands a juco power forward in the spring. If we also offer a post player in the 2005 class, that would give us five post players, which is a lot. Thus my assumption that the other two schollies will go to wing players.
  2. We've got four scholarships to give in that class. I don't think there's any question that two of those scholarships will go to wings.
  3. How would Lisch know Hansbrough? Lisch doesn't play AAU and Althoff doesn't play any games in southeast Missouri.
  4. Sorry to contradict you Nate, but Kalicak is an average shooter. He can hit a three if there's nobody within 5 feet of him but if you get a hand in his face, it's brick city.
  5. "DC has been tentative on offense, making mistakes on passes and drives frequently." It's called lack of experience. He'll be just as tentative next year if he doesn't get any.
  6. "a senior point, which is what Brandon would have been NEXT year, could lend and teach an incoming freshman (DPolk) about running a collegiate offense" I'm sure that very thinking is what led Brad to latch onto Brandon so early in the juco recruiting process. Now that we know we're not going to have him, Polk is gonna have to get a lot of reps with the first team in practice.
  7. The V beat Cahokia last night by 44. Dwayne Polk and Johnny Hill led the victors in scoring with 15 apiece.
  8. "If you don't think finishing around .500 in CUSA as middle of the road, I can't help you." Thanks, Doc, but I don't need your help ;-)
  9. SLU finished 4th last year in conference and 5th the year before that. That's hardly middle of the road.
  10. I can't tell if this KSU team is mediocre or not because they've played such a weak schedule. They lost by 41 to UMKC but they also beat a good Wichita St. team by 4. Which one is the real KSU?
  11. I kinda like the idea that we can play poorly and still beat a talented team, even it is by the skin of our teeth.
  12. They're better than Butler and I think most of us would have been satisfied with a win of any kind against them. KState just quit against UMKC, it's pretty much that simple.
  13. Polk's defense is legit. It will be an intense competition between Polk and Drejaj for the starting PG spot.
  14. "was hoping DC would have forced his way into some playing time by now." So was I. But Brad's defensive expectations are pretty high, significantly higher than they are at Charlotte, for instance.
  15. "DC - Maybe my expectations were too high ... I thought he would be playing 10-15 minutes a game with great D and the ability to score a little." This is a coach's decision. Brad would rather have 25 min of Drejaj's defense instead of 15 min of Drejaj's defense and 10 min of Clarke's defense.
  16. Luke Meyer scored 33 points on 12-20 shooting and 7-9 from the line to lead Borgia (10-1) to a 2 point victory over St. Charles West (8-4). Meyer hit the game winning jumper with 10 seconds remaining. Admittedly Borgia has played a bunch of cupcakes this year but against the best two teams on their schedule thus far, Chaminade and St. Charles West, Meyer is averaging 33.5 points and 9 rebounds.
  17. I like him. He rebounds, plays tough D and can score on putbacks. Landry is a much more skilled offensive player, though, so that would be my 1st preference.
  18. I had no idea before the season started that Sargent could shoot from deep like he has. He's the best three point shooter on the team, rebounds well for his size (about 6'4) and is a very good defender. I'd make it a priority to sign Lisch, Sargent and the Marcus Landry kid out of Milwaukee to play power forward and call it a day. Landry lists Purdue, Wisconsin, Valpo and St. Louis but the first two don't appear to be recruiting him that hard. I saw him play this summer at Fontbonne -- he plays a lot like Matt Shaw and is roughly the same size.
  19. Per Illinois High School Sports message board.. Conllinsville Championship recap
  20. Bell was the starting point guard, right? How does he get so much playing time -- does he have dirty pictures of the coach or something?
  21. I heard the comment. Marasek was discussing with Bob whether he thought Mizzou would still make the NCAA tournament and Bob pointed out what a strong conference the Big 12 and how Mizzou has continued to make the Dance even with a mediocre conference record. For some reason Marasek asked him to compare their season outlook to SLU and Bob said it didn't really make any sense to compare the two programs because they were on different planets. I thought it was obvious that Bob was talking about talent level but I still didn't appreciate that remark.
  22. Coach has said on several occasions on the radio that Ian Vouyoukas is very serious about becoming a better basketball player. That comment is consistent with a kid who practices hard. If I don't see him in the rotation when he becomes eligible, I will be kinda confused.
  23. Obviously Coach can play anybody he wants but I think he's making a mistake here. Ross Varner has virtually no chance of matching up with Dayton's frontline.
