  1. "I'm sorry, but losing Jameer Nelson for St. Joe's is like the Bulls losing Michael Jordan." I'm sorry, but no it isn't. Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time. Losing Jameer is more along the lines of Gonzaga losing Dan Dickau. Gonzaga appears to be doing okay.
  2. Those undeserving mid-major representatives are a handful aren't they :7

  4. If Tommie's test score remains the same, he would need a 2.7 to be a partial qualifier.
  5. If the staff doesn't work out something with Tommie by the end of April, getting an impact juco will be impossible. At best, they might be able to pull another Anthony Drejaj out of the hat in June. And even that's a longshot. We got really lucky with Drejaj.
  6. "Besides, he is already a partial qualifier" No he isn't. To be a partial qualifier, you need a 2.7 GPA. Tommie has a 2.5.
  7. By the end of April, there's going to be the temptation for the staff to just sign a qualified player and re-recruit Tommie at a later date. Missing out a player due to academics for the third year in a row is just unacceptable.
  8. "first off, if he wants out, then why relocate to san fran." Why not? It's a beautiful city with a lot of leisure activities. If I was a Hall of Fame who wanted to spend the final years of his career enjoying himself instead of being scrutinzed under a microscope, it's where I would go.
  9. Wow, five guards. Those five guys deserved it but I thought the PD would cave and choose Grimes so the team could have a post player. Methinks Polk won the POY when he dropped 38 points in the championship game. Meyer was the regular season POY, hands down.
  10. Nope, not until Tommie takes the test next week and gets his scores back at the end of April.
  11. According to rumors circulating around the Net, Price hasn't qualified yet. I haven't been able to confirm the rumors, myself. Nate?
  12. If we can get five easy buckets a game in transition, we wouldn't have to play games in the low sixties. Right now we get about two. If the big guys run with Polk in transition when he they are going to get more easy buckets.
  13. I'll never understand why people with so little regard for the regulars on this board continue to post here. Do you trade barbs with the regulars at your local tavern as well?
  14. Rest assured that the Central coaching staff will coach Tyus down to Top 75 status by his senior year. They are good at that. I also don't understand why their basketball players are having so much trouble academically. Hazelwood Central is a pretty decent school in that regard.
  15. Tyus is the most talented of that group but grades are an issue. Leonard is the best defender and will only get better as he gets stronger. Maguire is the best offensive player but his perimeter defense needs work. What team is 6'7 Adam Knollmeyer from Helias going to play for?
  16. Nate, is Sargent going to play football in college or he is focusing soley on basketball now? He, Dane Brumagin and Lisch are probably the best three shooters in St. Louis's 2005 class.
  17. The only thing missing from this story is a little boy standing by the gym door yelling "Shane, come back!" Rusty's boy is truly the fastest gun in the west :7
  18. http://www.collegesports.com/sports/m-bask.../021004aat.html Excerpts: "College basketball coaches will know the fate of the unpopular 5/8 rule in April. The NCAA is reviewing the rule, put into effect in 2001, that only allows college basketball coaches to give a total of eight scholarships in two years and no more than five per year." "NCAA President Myles Brand said the rule would be inspected and adjustments will possibly be made after a vote this April. Although the rule seemed like a good idea, it has hampered several programs and is continuing to cause problems for some schools. The rule makes scholarships a precious commodity. If a coach recruits a player and that player transfers, leaves early for the NBA or suffers a career-ending injury, the coach does not get to fill the vacancy." "During the summer, Brand said the rule would be inspected because of the constant complaints about it. He did not promise change right away, but said changes to the rule could be made. Recently, Brand announced that the NCAA would continue to inspect the rule and would vote on any changes in April, after the current basketball season ends."
  19. This ignorance of Southern Illinois talent is a good thing for SLU recruiting. If a kid isn't a prominent member of a national AAU program like the St. Louis Eagles or the Illinois Warriors, he misses out on a lot of exposure and less exposure means less recruiting compettiton. If Lisch's dad wasn't a prominent Notre Dame alumnus, he would be even more under the radar than he already is.
  20. As long as he is here, Coach Brad will always be the leader of his team and since the point guard is the extension of the coach, the point guard will be the leader on the floor. As it should be.
  21. I follow a lot of Illinois high school basketball both locally and through the Chicago/Peoria/Springfield newspapers and I've never heard of Luke Slater. Kind of hard to believe that a player I've never heard of made third team All-State. This kid isn't even listed on High School Elite or Chicago Hoops player rankings and the latter ranks sixy players!
  22. All the incoming freshmen can create their own shot. So can Clarke. It's just a question of how quickly they develop.
  23. I'm assuming Dayton plays at Savvis next year until I hear otherwise. I don't think it would be too hard to get UMKC, Kent St. and Nebraska to play us at home.
  24. Tabb is a combo guard just like Lisch is a combo guard. Lisch is obviously the first priority but it's good that the staff is evaluating Tabb, just in case.
  25. SLU officials were told we would host the Notre Dame too. But money talks.
