  2. Doesn't someone on this board have some pull with the dept? Can't we get a decent announcer? Give someone else a chance...Guy has worn out his welcome, imo. Suggestions: 1. John Ulett (Cards PA guy. Hoops and sports fan. Great voice) 2. Brian Stull (Steamers PA guy. Sports radio host. Big Voice) 3. Tony Busekreus (KSHE Promotions guy.) Any thoughts?
  3. Solid preview article from paper on SLU/Cards game. http://www.courier-journal.com/cjsports/ne...d0303-7451.html wasnt "Beat me in St Louis" the name of the S&M convention here in town a couple of years back?

  5. Asst Coach Beane Scheduled to be on 1380 in 1pm hour
  6. A friend of mine modified the Memphis newspaper lede paragraph (the original) Conference USA's athletic directors have voted to award the league's 2005 Men's Basketball Tournament to Memphis, meaning the Bluff City will host the league's final showcase before most of its premier members leave for the Big East. (his version) Conference USA's athletic directors have voted to award the league's 2005 Men's Basketball Tournament to Memphis, meaning the Bluff City will host the league's final showcase before most of its premier members leave for the Big East and the A10. we get no respect. I am THRILLED with this announcement!!!
  7. The problem is that the officials knew almost immediately that they had fudged up. It wasnt that the mistaked was noticed five minutes later, they caught it right after the made 3. I say you can go back and fix it at any point. In the NHL, I've seen a Blues game where they didn't notice a late first period goal until the middle of intermission. The teams finished the standard intermission, came out and started the first period at the point of the goal (about 5 minutes left). They finished the first...took a 2 minute timeout and then started the second. True, its hockey, but that looks like a fair way to correct the mistake. O'Neill needs a reprimand for this crap
  8. It was a really big room, moderately decorated. Not enough televisions, but a really big projection screen tv. Oddly, the only audio seemed to come from the various scattered televisions, didnt seem to have a speaker in the ceiling near the big screen...so sitting in the front i didnt get any game audio. I got the short end of the service, I guess that happens everywhere from time to time. It was rectified, but slowly. I'll try it again.
  9. http://www.gocyclones.com/site/news.cfm?ne...id=238626&rfi=6 February 21, 2004 That counts?!? Iowa State ends up on the short end of an officiating mistake in a 90-89 overtime at No. 21 Kansas. A 3-pointer by KU's J.R. Giddens is allowed to stand after officials failed to stop play when only one attempt of a two-shot free-throw situation was completed. Homan missed the first, the Jayhawks grabbed the rebound and Giddens hit a three. Officials stopped play after the basket and awarded Homan another free throw but had to count the points. The sequence is under review by the Big 12.
  10. Roy, Thats the information I understood as well. To have SMS and SIUC on the road at the same time is probably not the correct way to schedule.
  11. I remember them at the Dome several years back...UK has some AWESOME fans.
  12. Strange, but the press-release doesn't include a mention of SLU. Guess you don't want those stories in the press. Oh, and these cheerleaders better watch out (looks like Sandra and Dayna are twins!!) http://www.adirondackwildcats.com/dance_team/index.htm
  13. http://www.detnews.com/2004/msu/0402/18/e03-67999.htm Think Gene Keady will get a reprimand for this comment? (I like it though, I'd like to see a little more lee-way wih coaches comments about refs in all sports.) Michigan State’s 62-55 victory over Purdue on Tuesday night turned into a foul-fest. The teams were called for 48 fouls, including 25 against Purdue. “We can’t seem to adjust to the referees,†Coach Gene Keady said of Purdue’s penchant for getting into foul trouble in Big Ten games. “Evidently it’s us. It’s awfully funny. It’s the same referees. Make that singular — referee.â€
  14. Yeah, Roy, the balls are one of the biggest reasons the old folks get their butts out of their seats. Without them, we'd never get them up until they started to leave the game early. Balls are silly, but it gets the crowd going.
  15. Fine. You weren't specific about what in DeSmet's post you were referencing. Just backing up part of his post.
  16. Well, I can vouch for the door damage. Its the door to the private suite on ground level that the players can meet their parents in. Marquette players have to run right by there to get to their locker room. Steel door...dent. It was not dented before. Several Kiel ushers pointed it out to me. Dunno about the Crean not answering questions portion of the discussion.
  17. http://www.courierpress.com/ecp/religion/a...2635647,00.html Article about a college class at a Kentucky school that compares hoops to a religion
  18. If you are going to this pre-game thing, do me a favor and pick me up a t-shirt. 1 XL. I'll pay you when we get to the game. Thanks!!
  19. I think part of the theory for the Charter deal is to focus on and grow the local fanbase; make the games availaible. On a national scale, its more about who we play when we get on any kind of national television (meaning, we are not ever the draw, rather the other team). Also, I assume there are very few out of town fans to justify lessening the local commitment that Charter brings.
  20. The game was originally scheduled for thursday and The Deuce. Game was moved to wed nite (dont know why) and tv already had other things scheduled. This information was not properly communicated to others involved in SLU marketing until very recently.
  21. Roy, thats the key. Allowing your best people to do their best. The turnover in the Woolard administration has really hurt. I bet you can't list the people that have come and gone througout the Woolard years. I can list the people who have been here for quite a while, but its like two people...Lori Flanigan and Mike Beczkala. A whole department has turned over (several times in some cases) in that time frame from when Debbie Yow left til now. I don't know about you, but I hate to be micro-managed and then blamed and hung out to dry when something goes wrong. Worst thing to ever happen to SLU was when Yow left (and my family was one of the ones screwed over in the transfer of season tix from Kiel to the Arena!!)
  22. Getting younger fans to the games has been one of the failures over the past 5+ years. It seems that now with the new blood in the athletic department (Koshay) getting the younger crowd to the games will be a goal.
  23. Cardinals were up by 11 when Francisco Garcia picked up his 4th foul. Charlotte went on an 11-0 run. 3rd win over a top 10 team for 9ers this season.
  24. ..the phone call from a caller this morning on KFNS concerning an ice arena at SLU. The caller claimed that an ice rink would be built near the med school campus and be open by 2005. I havent heard a thing about this before, but he claimed that the slu club hockey teams would play there. Anyone know anything about this??
  25. Roy, I have to agree with you. Those east side kids I'm sure make up a large portion of the SIU-C student population. Does SIU-C have a radio outlet for their games here in St Louis? I know SMS pays to have their football and men's basketball on 1380. I think that SIU-C (if it wants some regular pub in the metro area) should do similar.
