  1. IT says Wisniewski scored not Patterson
  2. Big win with 2 key guys hurt.
  3. I bet they really like it when your site gives them 2 stars instead of 5 too.
  4. V keep posting these articles. While this is a SLU basketball forum, I think in posting local HS hoops comes a close second. Any D-1 prospect in the area is a worthy topic. Lord knows we've posted on Brandenberg ad nauseum and he never really considered us at all. SLU's best teams have always been filled with STL area players. The success of our program is really dependent on the success and development of high level players in and around STL. Local kids who are D-1 prospects will always be a pertinent topic here.
  5. slubillikens.com Kyle Patterson took advantage of an Indiana miscue to give the Saint Louis a 2-1 victory over the Hoosiers to close out the Saint Louis/Nike Soccer Classic Saturday evening at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. The victory handed the Billikens a share of the tournament title with Creighton. Josh Aranda was named co-MVP of the tournament, while Patterson, Calum Angus and Ross Kaufman were SLU's selections onto the All-Tournament squad. "To get a win over a top 10 team like Indiana is a great result," Billiken head coach Dan Donigan. "We made one mistake, and (IU's) Brad Ring scored a beautiful goal. But I like how we bounced back and tied the game before halftime on Brian Grazier`s goal. Kyle Patterson was overpowering tonight. Indiana had possession, but he took the ball away and scored. I'm very happy and pleased with how we played." In the 26th minute, the Hoosiers struck first when Brad Ring took advantage of a SLU defensive miscue. He collected the ball from 20-yards out and launched a low drive into the left side of the Billiken net to put IU up 1-0 early. Kyle Hayes had a chance to equalize when Brandon Barklage flighted a long ball into the IU box. Hayes ran onto the ball and pushed it forward, but IU keeper Chay Cain covered up the ball to keep the Hoosiers in the lead. With three minutes left in the half, Brian Grazier scored his career goal when he tapped in a ball after a cross from Hamzagic for the equalizer. In the 60th minute, it was the Billikens turn to take advantage of a defensive miscue. Indiana turned the ball over deep in their own defensive end, then Kyle Patterson sprinted into the box and pounded home the shot to boost the Billikens to a 2-1 lead. The Hoosiers nearly tied the game midway through the second half when Kevin Noschang's long shot from the left side rang off the right SLU goal post and trickled away. IU continued to push forward in an attempt to tie the game, but the Billiken defense kept the Hoosiers off the scoreboard. Kaufman made five saves to pick up his second win of the season. Dado Hamzagic had the first good scoring chance 17 minutes into the game when he took a ball down the right side and hit the post. Patterson then collected a pass from Hamzagic and launched a shot wide right of the Indiana goal. Hamzagic had another strong scoring opportunity, but Cain stretched to his right to make the save. The Billikens improve to 2-1-2 on the season, while the Hoosiers suffer their second straight loss and drop to 3-2-1. The Billikens return to action on Sat., Sept. 22, when they travel to Peoria, Ill., to take on Bradley. ============ This is an absolutely huge victory over a real rival program who has built their program partially out of talent from the STL area.
  6. I've been on wait with the county library for months. They called me yesterday saying it was in. I should be done with it by the end of the weekend.
  7. Nobody hates mizzou more than I do but you have to admit Anderson is a very good coach. He got his UAB team to the sweet sixteen. Given a little more time recruiting players to a high major and playing in his system he has a chance for real success.
  8. It would be ridiculous for Tommie to leave early to go in the second round. Unless he has an enormous season like averaging 20 ppg and leading the team deep into the tourney along with gaining about 20 lbs he has no chance of being drafted.
  9. From what I've read KM seems to be a Marque Perry type guy. PG skills but more at home filling it up. I wouldn't mind another PG or another wing in the class. You can never have enough good guards in D-1 hoops.
  10. Apparently. Liddell would have to have a year like Larry had to be able to come out after this year. He is a 4 year player.
  11. I'm most concerned about the 11 day break between non conference and conference schedule. That is much too long of a period to wait in between games.
  12. Can we have Nate abide by this rule as well? Do we really need anymore updates on Drew Hanlen visiting Dartmouth and Northern Illinois?
  13. Nate was scooped Uh Oh It was probably in one of his pay articles.
  14. In the end Brad should have played the game, but I'll give him credit for trying to do it his way. He got a couple good players out of it. You remember when the AAU coach called darren clarke "that f***er from Minnesota." That really is the just the tip of the iceberg. That guy was peeved because Soderberg bypassed a player he had mentored, Ahearn, but some of these others, their dislike of SLU runs even deeper and the reasons for it more petty. We have 3 former SLU players on the eagles coaching staff. One is lukewarm about the program and the other two will badmouth it at the drop of a hat. You would think there would be some loyalty to the school but there is absolutely none. They are only out for themselves. I'm not saying they have to try to send every star player they have to SLU but dissuading kids from even considering SLU is really uncalled for and unprofessional.
  15. I for one am posting more often since the implementation of the new board. This is really a great program and it allows you to do many more things than the old board.

  18. Lisch was an outsider (similar to Kramer) who didn't play AAU all the time. For various reasons he could relate to Soderberg and Brad was able to develop a special relationship with him. AAU coaches were turned off by Brad. They felt they were ignored. Brad appeared to have a tendency to bypass AAU and also HS coaches (in some situations like Maplewood, CBC, etc they are both) and develop relationships directly with the families involved. Thing is most families aren't like Kevin Lisch's, Scott Suggs' or even Tommie Liddell's (whose mother was won over by Brad and that circumvented any and all interference from other family members and outsiders). Recruiting is put in the hands of the coaches and BBall mentors rather than the parents who have either no interest, no experience, are just not around, or have already placed their trust in the hands of the AAU coaches who have known their kids for several years. I've been told personally by 2 AAU coaches who were products of SLU that Brad circumvented them and this led them to have a poor opinion of his staff and obviously the school. They would never say they steered kids away but that is the most logical conclusion. BTW Rick showing up here has not changed their mind about SLU, they expect to be wooed by Majerus, maybe more so than usual because of their "poor treatment" from Brad. Brad probably did the right and ethical thing in his recruiting but it will only work on a small # of recruits. You have to at least have better relationships with these guys, and then results on the floor will get you more face time with them and their players.
  19. I'm sure Majerus has been in contact with him. So have a lot of other schools in the area. Some of the coaches w/maplewood had a less than cordial relationship with the previous SLU regime. Most of the area is still in honeymoon mode with Majerus. We should know more after this fall how much of inroads Majerus is making with the local HS coaches and the AAU coaches (since the guys at maplewood are involved with both).
  20. Gee Nate are you jealous? No one denied you pimping out your site here. Now you badmouth Vtime's? Good luck with your site STLhi. It looks good so far.
  21. Stlhi you should get your site to work on firefox. I like your rating system instead of a number or stars to rate players you use $ signs. More sites should be that brutally honest.
  22. I'd take a tie on the road against #8 in the country.
  23. Randy was on KMOX for a very long time and SLU was on that station for a period. I would listen to SOL on the mox often and Randy rarely if ever talked SLU Bball. Besides his gig on Charter and a billiken club meeting he showed up at he never seemed at all interested in anything SLU related in the many years he has been broadcasting in St Louis. Lets face it. I think Randy has a POV that most local sports fans have. That SLU is insignifigant when compared to Mizzou and Illinois and only deserves disdain. While I do believe our basketball program has been severely underrated locally over the years, I put the blame squarely on Biondi and the feeble administrations we have had for the lack of exposure and respect our program receives. Obviously the hiring of Majerus is the first step in correcting these popular notions but there needs to be much more improvement from our play on the court to public relations and marketing of the team to improve our standing among the local media and most sports fans.
  24. I think talk of a dukes resurgence has been greatly exaggerated. If they finish over .500 I will be surprised.
