  1. Ford content to sit in zone and lose by less.
  2. If all this is indeed true, then May made a calculated decision that has backfired terribly in reality. Folks get canned all the time for such decisions. Coaches get canned all the time for failing to win. Those facts are documented umpteen times over in real life. I guess institutions of higher learning are exempts from lessons learned in reality, The dean at Harvard got canned but kept her $900k teaching job (Harvard/MIT/Penn wherever).
  3. I watched Loyola go into Richmond and give VCU a game. I was impressed because I don't think much of Loyola, Watson and Valentine. I figured VCU's athleticism would overpower them just as it did us. VCU was favored by 5.5 and the win by 7 allowed me to make some money. But Loyola hung really tough. Adelekun led Loyola with 14. Loyola, just like us, had no answer for Bamisile and his 25. We don't do well on the road and we've already lost to these guys. Not good.
  4. @Soderball: okay. Thanks for the answer. However, we already tend to run the shot clock down and then because we have no one sans Parker who can create his own shot, we are chucking whatever shot we have left. I haven't seen us press on defense short of one guy putting minimal pressure on the advancing point guard. Our press against VCU led to back-to-back layups indicating to me that we don't know how to press. Also, our point guards are so weak, they get pushed out to near half court to start our gawd-awful weave so this in and of itself should play pretty well into you "run the shot clock more" philosophy.
  5. @Soderball: curious as to your suggestion on just how to slow the game down. We already run the weave, get the ball back to the top of the key, then scramble to launch a shot near the end of the shot clock. That's our offense, I guess then you mean doing something with this gawd-awful defense we throw out there?
  6. Dayton is one player away from mediocrity as well.
  7. Dayton just dropped 15 on Richmond first half. Of course, Richmond only scored 20.
  8. Traditionally, we don't win on the road. If we concede that with this team, then our only hope are home wins. Who we got left? Umass. Fordham. VCU. George Washington. Richmond. Dayton. Those teams are a combined 77 and 36 overall; 25 and 12 in the A10. Also combined they are 13 and 12 on the road. Fordham is 3 and 3 on the road. Geedubya is 1 and 3 and Umass is 0 and 4. I think those three games might be it although Richmond is only 3 and 3 and we played Dayton close in Dayton. Athletically, once again, we don't see to match up well with VCU. Dayton is up to #16.
  9. Dayton as a 3-seed. A10 Juan Bid. First Four Out = Gonzaga!
  10. In case you missed it: Grant Huffman and Angelo Brizzi against Cian Medley and Mike Meadows Wednesday night: Huffman/Brizzi Medley/Meadows Points: 38 4 Assists: 10 5 Rebounds: 8 3 3pts: 5 - 7 0 - 2 Turnovers: 1 3 Combined, Meadows, Medley, Hughes and Jimerson were 3 of 16. Let's watch Saturday and see how far out Umass pushes our points as they cross the half court line. Quote
  11. Umass is better than Davidson to whom we just lost to at home by 20+ points.
  12. I've referred to one poster as Chip Diller from Animal House. "All is well!!!"
  13. Grant Huffman is leading the A10 in assists at 4.6 per game. Think about that when you mention Yuri.
  14. @Lord Elrond: semantics. But I think we are on the same page.
  15. Gentlemen: Medley provides no offense. Meadows zero. Hughes zero. Zhang zero. Jimerson can't get open. No plays are ever run for Hargrove. Parker is a one-on-one+ player. Thames is a junkyard dog at best. Only Ezewiro has a game suited for a 4/5 player. There is no discernable offense. No one can play man-to-man and they are all lost on any zone. The bottom lines are twofold: who recruited this mess and who is teaching them the schemes? I don't see another win all year. Tonight was it and we lost at home by 20 plus.
  16. Het he played for Tulsa and now us. I'd get the hell away from basketball too.
  17. Tuesday night ..... Dayton handled a pesky La Salle squad at Gola. The Explorers cut it to three late int he second half but Dayton pulled away to a 12 point win. The Joeys came back from multiple deficits to beat Umass in Amherst 78 to 77 on a Lynn Greer last second layup with 1.3 to go. VCU handled a valiant effort by Loyola at Siegel to win 74 to 67 behind Bamisile's 25 points. Nice follow up to torching us for 29, Joe. And in the ugliest game of th enight, Duquesne got off the league schneid by beating the Bonnies 54 to 50 at Palumbo. The Bonnies scored 15 points in the first half and didn't break 20 until the 15:27 mark of the second. Duquesne countered with a whopping 22. DaeDae Grant is still out in concussion protocol. No Duquesne player broke double digits in scoring. Tomorrow, besides us and Davidson, Fordham goes to Rhodey and Geedubya travels to UNDEFEATED Richmond. A10 talk has us as the 15th rated team in the A10. ESPN Bets has us as 1.5 point favorites.
  18. Davidson is the same team they were last year .... minus the big two of Loyer and Mennenga. And Desmond Watson transferred to Loyola. They still have Skogman who is a typical Euro big in that he shoots the three. Plus Huffman who thinks he's better than he is. Redd Bailey is a soft 6'10" post player. And Connor Kochera shoots threes ala the Roche kid at Richmond. Two new adds are Angelo Brizzi who was a top ranked PG recruit when he signed with Villanova and Bobby Durkin, a true freshman at 6'7". All except Brizzi are averaging nearly 10 ppg. They are slow and unathletic, but still run the McKillop system. They are 1 and 4 in league play having their lone win at Fordham. They have lost at home to Dayton and lost to both Geedubya and Richmond both in overtime. IO see this as maybe our last chance to get a win in conference (with Umass also a toss up only because they are at home too).
  19. Dalger struck me as a guy on the brink of senioritis. He seemed quite a black hole on offense ---- once the pass went to Tim, it was never (rarely) coming back. He was that way against VCU but so too was Sincere. Sincere at least could score. He's our sole creator on offense but it is a creation for mostly himself. Hopefully, this gives more developmental time to Thames, Zhang and van Bussel. Maybe go big at times with Ezewiro and Zhang and then use van Bussel for relief. If nothing else, it will show us if van Bussel can stay or should depart.
  20. Go Weave! Every A10 team stands at the foul circle for the first theee passes of our offense. Everyone knows what CTF teams do on offense. Athletes like VCU have no issue defending it. And there is no plan B until Parker and Dalger and Hargrove decide to go one-on-one.
  21. If ever there was a game to press, tonight would be it. Let’s see how CTF approaches it. With Medley, Meadows, Hughes, Thames, Jimerson, Parker and even Hargrove, we have the number of horses needed to do it. Shulga and Bairstow are not ballhandlers.
  22. Could've sworn my broadcast said concussion. But okay.
