  1. slufanskip said, "IV will be at least a 2nd team all A-10 center before he is done." hmmmmm. you see more than i have so far. iv imo is one of the slowest d-1 centers i have seen. he obviously isnt too motivated, considering he never got in shape all of last year. and he isnt the brightest considering some of his stupid fouls. now when he decides to get in shape, he might be a little faster, if he hits the weight room more, he might raise the level of his girth from his hips to his shoulders, and when he dedicates himself in practice and learns to play brad's way he might play smarter in games. then, i might discuss all-star futures. as it is right now, i would hope that tom frericks replacement is playing on some juco college floor right now.
  2. It is hard for me to believe that you are a gonzaga follower. i have always been under the assumption that gonzaga fans and followers were good people. right now, your appearance on our board sounds more like a mi$$ouri tiger fan. pardon me if i dont welcome you and your arrogant obnoxious attitude to billikens.com. p.s. i guess few couldnt make up any stories on lorenzo this year to slow down the huskies recruiting. it is my guess that few will be on his way in a year or two now that someone is beating him to the punch on the washington recruiting cream. i will enjoy watching washington overtake your butts now that you have come here and acted like such an a$$ and lowered the billiken fandom's veiw of gonzaga. congratulations for inciting a fellow jesuit fan base idiot.
  3. david, dont underestimate the power of the masons/shriners.
  4. i dont think it was chinch that polk would have started from day one. brad puts so much emphasis on his way on offense and defense and there is no doubt he loves the way that drejaj plays. it was my belief that drejaj would have started the season as our point guard and polk would have been gradually worked more and more into the lead guard spot and drejaj switched to the 6th man spot. while drejaj will probably be healed by the beginning of november, a groin injury is at least a two week recovery if not more. however, this injury to drejaj will without a doubt accelerate polk's indocturnation to billiken basketball and braditude. he will now have the opportunity to step up sooner and just the fact he is athletically superior, if he grasps the concepts of coach soderberg, he will have a better chance to win that starting spot now imo.
  5. only point i have right now is that the injury to drejaj is going to put young mr polk in the the thick of things much sooner than before. things happen for a reason, but polk will have to step up in practice immediately now.
  6. my son makes his first billikens.com appearance. he should be studying his chemistry. :-)
  7. i believe it is something to do with the ncaa as well. they want the arena to appear as "neutral" as possible.
  8. it is my guess the "hawaii game" is being used as a recruiting tool since next year that will be an away game. remember, memphis, cincy, and marquette are all supposed to be top 25 teams, louisville is supposed to be a top 5 team. uab and charlotte probably are top 25 teams, depaul is getting press, i.e. we have a damn tough schedule just within our own conference.
  9. if the billikens did have anything to do with the weather, most of us wouldnt know it because our sports information department would only hand out stats about it at halftime of the storm to the people in the first row of the spectator section.
  10. (read with tongue firmly in cheek) of the fine job our sports information department does to get the word out on our team. here's hoping that soon the effects of cheryl levick start showing up somewhere. so far i havent seen much in the way of waves.
  11. insiders.com confirms it tonite...... "O'Fallon (Ill.) High School head coach Kevin Kellermann has confirmed that his son, Chris Kellermann, made a verbal commitment Saturday to play his college basketball for Central Michigan University. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound power forward had been considering a number of Division I schools, but Coach Kellermann said Chris liked what he saw at CMU when visiting the weekend of Sept. 11. "He hit it off real well with the players," coach Kellermann said. "Chris liked the facilities and he liked (CMU head) coach (Jay) Smith. "This is a great opportunity for Chris and I know I feel real good about his decision." Last season, Kellermann averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists per game for O'Fallon. He shot 65 percent from the field (44 percent from 3-point range) and 89 percent from the charity stripe. Kellerman also had offers and interest from Bradley, Samford, Southeast Missouri State, Austin Peay, Wichita State, Bowling Green, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Southern Illinois."
  12. wow, that is interesting. and it would look good in my basement sports bar. are you serious? assuming good condition i might be interested.
  13. i've explained my braves loyalty before. blame bing devine. i was in 4th grade and devine had the audacity to trade my favorite player, orlando cepeda, to the braves for tubby joe torre. i cried myself to sleep that night and vowed 1. to become a braves fan and 2. not a torre/cardinal fan. i have since backed down quite a bit on the cardinal thing as i root for the cardinals when they arent playing the braves. no worries on the $nyder thing. i still hate the cheating lying scum.
  14. at least he tried. he was in there fighting and clawing for whatever he could get. kellerman sits out on the wing and waits for a pass. like i said, if the rest of his game was matt shaw like, i would lead the charge, but he doesnt want to utilize his big body for anything but shooting threes over 5'10" high school guards.
  15. i say a taller version of troy robertson would be more like it. like i said, kellerman is a shooter a 2 guard, in a pf body. now if he comes out this winter and plays the rest of the game like matt shaw, i will lead the charge on sign this kid. but no way i early sign him.
  16. jeff was not only the shooter (and more) that kellerman is, but jeff did all the other things as well. sorry, i dont even see kellerman as close to jeff luck.
  17. i would not compare kellerman to ryan luechtifeld. imo, luck was a lot tougher and willing to do the intangibles more. kellerman is a sg in a pf body imo. i am not a kellerman fan. i was not a ryan luck fan either (i was a big jeff luck fan though). but if i had to pick i would have taken ryan luck over kellerman.
  18. taj said, "or do we see the best team in the American League versus the best team in the National League? Wouldn't that be a change of pace?" why would another braves/yankmes rematch be a change of pace? ;-)
  19. skip i thought you were donating a car so i didnt cash in any of the bonds.
  20. kellerman is now being listed at insiders.com as a billiken potential recruit.
  21. ealstun said, "Tagging onto the "need a bang up year" comment, how effective will the recruiting class be this year?" since most of us believe that newborne and polk will both have to contribute a lot, here's hoping the new recruiting class is extremely effective! half of the class, (newborne and brown) are relatively unknowns. so it is hard to comment at this point. but practice starts late next friday nite (i assume a midnight practice is forthcoming? any one know anything?) and we will then have a lot better feel for how they will mesh with reggie, frericks, izik and drejaj. ealstun said, "It seems to me we are gearing up for a serious 2005-6 or 2006-7 season. This has probably been talked about much on this board (I am new to the board), but which of the new local recruits do you see getting a starting position and having the big contribution this year?" imo, only newborne will start at the beginning of the year. our inside game is dangerously unknown outside of frericks. but one would be a fool to think that polk is not going to be there asap. just too much natural talent. ealstun said, "I am excited about our recruits for the most part (kudos to coach) but not sure on the 2004 impact. How many of our egges are in the Reggie basket this year?" reggie will have a lot to shoulder, but again, i think the strength of the team will lie in how good newborne is and how much izik finally decides to play consistently at the high level he is capable of. reggie and frericks are the best players, but they cant do it all.
  22. i would pretty much agree with that. it is the american way.
  23. i'll believe it when i hear it. especially if on the weekend when there are a million other sporting events for kfns that traditionally wants to use the syndicated stuff for weekends.
  24. i wouldnt bet that kmox will carry the paradise jam games. few times in the past have the exhibition games and preseason tourney games been broadcast. besides, it might interfere with the kmox auto report or the swap shop.
