what's even more amazing on the conley front is all the cheating they went thru to get him and now they dont even use him?

michigan did it last year and it was obviously a good tactical move as now the michigan team looks like a bubble team whereas last year they were not. the ncaa went along with their sanctions.

to exclude uab and include memphis, charlotte and marquette instead kills that guys credibility at this time.

exactly why they might as well take a knee. before, the hope was that they would get a high seed, and with the pod system, they would have played all their games in kc and st louis, thus the belief they would get to the final four. now they will probably at best if they get in at all, an 8 or a 9 seed, i.e. any tourney visit is probably short lived. why not try to make sure that your penalties are as little as possible rather than put it in the ncaa's hands?

i think humphreys doesnt have charter because they choose not to pay for it. having satellite instead. i dont think it is a matter they cant get it.

a coach search might be difficult with the impending ncaa action. one thing i bet the missouri people have to be thinking about now is taking a sword for the benefit of the ncaa. i mean now it is obvious they wont get a good seed, might not even make the tourney. if i was alden, i would self penalize myself now and hope the ncaa says, ok, good enough. take the post season ban, fire a coach(s), take away a scholarship and move on.

IF our athletic dept was sharp, they would see the success we had with an impromptu get together at a crazy bar that couldnt care less if we were there. i would think, "hmmm wonder if we organized something really nice at the new busch center, with a few tvs strategically set up and a buffet and cash bar, what an opportunity to look for prospective billiken club members!"

the problem is that while coach soderberg's style of play almost certainly keeps us in all games, i feel it also keeps the other team in the game as well. thus i dont see any blowouts for charity minutes on the horizon. i think judging by what i saw this weekend vs memphis, we are in for a game tomorrow nite.

that is a good point. never thought of it that way. talent does have a way of covering mistakes and sloppy play.

i think it is comical to suggest 2-3 games in a row the last two years in march makes his style ok. hardly.

uab has only 4 losses. 3 of them have been to top 25 teams and only lsu has beaten them by more than 7 points. i think they are the obvious #3 team in the conference.

brehms, i thought i remember you saying he played with carmelo anthony in aau ball in h.s. is that correct? if so, who else was on that team? didnt they win the aau national title?

i agree. coach soderberg will make sure of it. but bad habits are hard to break. as long as he is scoring 25 a game, i can have some patience. :-)

any time the likes of calipari is coaching the opposition, we have a chance. maybe only pretty q $nyder is a worse floor coach of major college basketball.

reggie was guarding mason. he did not block him out for rebounds down the stretch at all and then either he or someone else would foul mason and put him on the line. reggie is spectacular with the ball, but he needs to be more attentive all the time defensively. we have seen instances where reggie just did a great job defensively this year, but he needs to become more consistent.

jjray, dont you get the feeling that the "next year" is truly different this time? our recruits are ones that we have all truly seen as opposed to just reading press clippings or going by coach's account. i am probably more excited about "next year" than i have been since the eve of the legend's class.

i believe it was organized and publicized within the billiken club. if you are not a member, there would have been no way you would have known.

the sms game was a poor choice to organize a trip imo. first off too close to xmas, second, not the greatest of rides to take or destinations. plus it was not an overniter. if i recall, drive down, watch and drive back. that sounded like work not relaxation to me. memphis would be a lot more fun same with chicago.

beale street on weekends, especially after a game, is nuts. dont think you can just say, "meet you at the rum boogie cafe a half an hour after the game and expect to get much of a group in let alone together." that said, i probably enjoy beale street more than any other entertainment center that i have visited in america.

travel well? you mean billiken law, the 12 or so of us that annually go to the conference tourney isnt considered well? my point is, if our fans wont travel to the final games in the all important tourney, what would make you think that would change for an individual game to milwaukee?

as i said, i only heard the first about 10 minutes of the show, so if grim made a comeback i am thankful.

the ref that made the call is terry moore. imo, terry is normally a very good ref that typically doesnt try to make the big call or showboat for the coaches and fans (see welmer or o'neill). his call of the 5 second call was not what i would have expected from him. strange indeed.

no, his show was late starting, but i heard about the first 10 minutes before i had to go to a meeting. during those ten minutes he spent the time educating mike grim about the game last nite as it was pretty obvious grim hadnt seen a second of the game. that's always good, have a host that was more concerned over the rams post game than doing his homework for the next day's show by watching the billikens play. if that is the host we will be stuck with on the show, the show will only be as good as the callers calling in as grim doesnt have or care to have a clue.
