burr's "day" goes back to the late 70's and early 80's as a top official. he needs to hang it up. that decision to overrule o'neil's travel was a great example of a makeup call imo. when they went over and watched the replay, how much you want to bet they saw they missed varner's foul and the shot clock thing was a compromise. that is total b.s. to godlike make a decision like that. imo, that call was worse than josh's 5 second call in milwaukee.

great point. the previous two seasons with marqueball, when marque was out or stopped, we had some games where we would go 7-10 minutes without scoring.

our season will be made with the games with louisville, uab and cincy. if we can go 2-3 in those games we will be in the ncaa. any less than that start praying.

i agree david. i have totally downgraded where they stand in the league. i originally expected them to battle for the top 3-4 spots. now i think they will be luck to be 4th. they are no better than us, charlotte, and southern miss. their little under the table deal with southern miss will be huge in this race. think about it. if they finish 4th instead of 8th. and we have seen that one win in this league can easily mean that much.

western michigan has an rpi of 23 and a record of 10-1. i dont know why that loss by uab would be considered questionable.

i am not on the same page with this steamrolling belief that the team is becoming too dependent on reggie. i just dont see it. it is no where near as one dimensional of a team as we have been seeing almost every season since larry the legend. of course larry's team was a one man show. two years later, i think love was it. the next year jeffers dominated the show. the last two years has been the worst examples with the marque show. at least josh, frericks, drejaj and sloan have taken turns supporting reggie. imo, reggie appears to have the strong back to carry more if asked. i say ride that horse......

great point about the 500 record thing kshoe. they have crossed it couple of times, but you are correct that they wont do it for more than maybe one team in the conference. still the acc race will be a fun one to watch shake out. i stand corrected on the #'s.

just from the fact that she acted as though the band's sign deal was something new tells me she isnt a fan that has been to many if any billiken games since the band has been doing this for about 10 years now.

bauman said, "Maybe the worst officiated game I have been to in 30+ years" i was not at the game last nite as it was my daughter's first game of the year, and as much of a billiken fanatic that i am, i am a bigger fan of my two kids and their sports. but i did see the last 12 minutes on charter. as soon as i saw both o'neill and burr, that spells trouble officiating wise. you have two refs that think they are the show and love to make godlike makeup calls and the big call at the end of the games, it will always be ugly. the traveling/shot clock call at the end of the game was horrible. the right call was actually a foul on varner or no call. the second best call was o'neill's traveling call as the so miss player did travel after varner bumped him. the worst and totally wrong call was the shot clock. the so miss player had control of the ball already and the shot clock still showed 1 second. so if that is the case, the shot clock should have reset for so miss. no way that was a shot clock call.

i think the big 12 at this time will get 4 and conference usa will also get 4. the benefit of the rpi this year will be the acc who might get a record 8 - 9 teams. in years past the acc has gotten 3.

steve you need to ban the sameas name and poster. anyone that does that crap isnt here to discuss basketball. they are intent on causing confusion and infringing on your character. if you want to give the guy a short period of time to change it, fine, but if he doesnt come forward to do that, i would ban him, his ip addy and head off a potential problem. thicks, i cant believe you defend guy. he has almost zero basketball knowledge and imo is and always has been at best a distraction at the games. i know of no regular fans that actually enjoy him. some tolerate him but few look forward to him and his "humor". that said, it is my understanding he is kim tucci's bud. kim is a wonderful billiken booster and if kim wants him, i aint getting in that battle. that said, they could ask him to at least lay off the kids and contestants.

i dont think marquette will hang with cincy. cincy, louisville and uab are a step ahead of everyone else. marquette is on the next wave with us, charlotte and so miss imo.

well dont forget they sold their home game with marquette so marquette could play two "home games". that deal is going to end up being huge in this conference race.

let's wait and see what this renee does. my guess is that he is all about professional sports and what little coverage we were getting with billiken friendly bush and cuse is gonna get cut even more. that is my biggest b!tch. for me, other than a little cardinal news, i couldnt careless about any of the pro teams.

i agree i dont like rich from maryland heights or on tv charlie tuna, but other than that, i have little problems with frank. especially if you compare him to the rest of the st louis electronic media.

as i said, in an earlier post, terry has typically been a very good ref. one in the vein of hightower in his prime that just blended into the game and seldom would make a call like that. i would prefer to give him another chance before putting him on the welmer list. and i am not a very ref friendly guy!

he did make a politically correct statement about how if he needs to he will work with renee and make channel 5 the best it can be or something like that. my guess is that frank is being courted to be the number 2 guy. probably end up the weekend anchor. malcom and blondie will be out. (i have never forgiven kelly johnson for making the statement last year on franks show that brad soderberg will never ever win more than 20 games while the coach at saint louis) good riddance kelly. have fun in mobile alabama or wherever the hell you end up. frank is just too good for the station to let get away. while he isnt going to get the job he should and deserves to have, i will be shocked if they dont try to make it better. he works too hard and too good to be ignored. it will be interesting to see what happens.

i was studying the rpi this morning. missouri is in big time trouble. they can no longer skate by just by beating the lower teams. they will have to get hot and beat most of the top big 12 teams as well. it appears to me by looking at conference rpi picture, that right now, the conference is a mess. not only is missouri down the rpi list, as is oklahoma and ok state. the ncaa will not be able to justify taking 3 "traditional powers" and leap frogging 2-3 other conference teams. couple that with the fact that the conference is the 8th ranked conference, my guess is that the ncaa guys are sweating bullets on this one. the acc is loaded. they have 8 out of 9 teams with sub 50 rpi's and last place clemson is 55! i would not want to be the tourney picker committee this year and explain any shenanigan picks they will be faced with. http://teamrankings.com/ncb/8confratings.php3
