guest
Now that our beloved Bills and Tigers are done playing, who is everyone rooting for? Of cours I will be cheering on my Dukies. I also have to get behind the other Mo team, MO ST. I have a sister at GW, so I will root for them. For some reason I also like G-town. Who will be the first to call me tigerdevilcolbearhoyawuss? I love me some hoops

The mid-major team that can hand pick it's players from the Saint Louis area and consistently go the NCAA tournament.

bauman
Yeah, they can hand pick 'em alright! Wonder how they missed on the 2 biggest recruits out of this area in the past several years, TL & KL, when they can just hand pick 'em?

kshoe
I'm hoping St. joes is our representative as I think they are best qualified to make a small run in the dance. Personally I think GW wil get knocked out on the first weekend but I hope not. I don't hate the Valley but I see them as a threat to SLU's recruiting around the area so I'll be calling for all of them to lose in the first round. I'll be in Vegas the first weekend so really I'll be calling for all the teams I bet on. Gotta bet against Gonzaga. They are vastly overated. lefty
Their RPI on KenPom is now 33 and their SOS is 199. Given their recent bad press, I'm not sure they're in although the east coast bias probably works in their favor.

kshoe
Yes their RPI sucks but a team with a perfect regular season conference record and a win over a bubble Maryland team will have no problem getting in. Their seed could be in question but the guys on ESPN still think of them as a 5 seed. 5 seeds aren't in any danger of not making the tourney. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology
kshoe
It will depend on where you are staying but Ceasars Palace has one of the best set-ups with 4 huge screens going and decent management making sure all the games are shown all the time. A few tips I've noticed in the past. 1) If you are making sports bets on individual games all the casinos are virtually the same. You may get a half a point better somewhere but otherwise the odds won't change. 2) If you are making "futures" bets (bets on who will win the tourney, how many wins a particular conference will have, etc.) the place to go is the Imperial Palace. Located accross the street from Caesars it offers considerably better odds and has many more bets available. I wouldn't watch the games there, just make the bets and leave. 3) Expect 70-80% guys. The ratio in Vegas this weekend is terrible. 4) It is tempting to bet on every game but probably wiser just to bet more $ on the games you have a strong feeling on. 5) don't waste much time sleeping. You can do that back in STL. 6) Never ever call a phone # you receive on one of those cards on streets. Bachelor party buddy of mine did it and it was the biggest rippoff ever.
