Larry Albus and the birth of the Metro Conference

What great work, Torch, and thank you. I was not aware of the Dayton angle re the Metro.

Dayton was one of the first teams to sign up for the league.  They weren't as low as the Billikens were at the time but their prime was past by this time.  They were in line to host the conference tourney as well.  Their President backing out cited new Title IX laws that could complicate the new conference.  Even that concern would be proven foolhardy.  They did almost torpedo the conference before it started.  Louisville came in and saved the day, the conference was better off for it.
