Could the A-10 get 5 bids?

No doubt any at large mid-major teams will be forced to play each other in the first round. They are so scared of another George Mason.

If any team other than the top 3 A-10 teams wins the conference tournament they will probably burst the bubble of the # 3 or 4 team.

Agreed. However, selection Sunday could be one example of how playing in the A-10, with representatives in virtually all major markets on the East Coast, could help us in ways the Valley could never hope to. In other words, if the A-10 has a banner year like the Valley did a few years ago, I bet there will be much more positive press for the conference than they Valley received during their run.

Too early in the season to speculate and discuss. What happens if the A-10 goes into conference play and starts beating the crap out of each other? Dayton was ranked. Temple is ranked. And Xavier is Xavier. So the elusive fourth bid is a battle right now between Richmond, Charlotte, and La Salle? Umass ebat Memphis. Didn't Rhode Island beat a local name like Providence or BC? While all fine and dandy now, the season doesn't end now. A10 teams, for the most part, are kind of like us === win at home and lose on the road. If one or two teams can break that trend, over and above the top three teams, then a fourth bid might happen.

But it all can go to hell given what happens in the SEC, Big East, Big Twelve and so on.

Let's talk come February.

Richmond put themselves in a great at-large position with its neutral court wins against Mizzou and Mississippi State and a win over Florida in the state of Florida. That's huge. But they have to make those wins stand up by finishing in the top three in the league, which will be hard. No lower than fourth. and make some noise in the conference tourney.

Say, if they lose to us at Chaifetz, the committee will see it as a bad loss despite the fact that we are tough to beat at home. A team like Richmond will get penalized for that, which is unfortunate.

Temple is in the same boat with its road win at Seton Hall, plus wins of Villanova, Penn State and Siena. However, Dunphy seems to have them peaked at the Conference tourney.

Xavier has played its usual nonconference slate, but they have struggled in losing to Marquette, Kansas State (very good team) as well as the robbery in Indy last weekend. Losing Brown early has really hurt them. They really have to do well in the league this year and I have no doubt that they will. X's track record is definitely in their favor.

I'd be surprised if Dayton doesn't finish either first or second in the league.

URI is also doing quite well despite losing Baron and Seawright.

LaSalle is talented, but no point guard. Everything else is in place, but their lack of a floor leader makes them real vunerable. But, boy do they have talent and size.

It will be interesting to watch from here on out.
